I've been a patient at Grove Dental in Wheaton for over 30 years, and today was the first time I felt genuinely dismissed. I had to cancel my cleaning because of a severe tendinitis flare in my shoulder and knee -- I physically couldn't drive or sit through the appointment. When I called to explain, the response was flat and unsympathetic. I was told the next available cleaning wasn't until October, with no offer of a cancellation list and no attempt to help. What makes this especially frustrating is that they call me about once a week asking if I want to come in for last‑minute openings when they have cancellations. But when I had a legitimate medical issue, suddenly there was no flexibility and no interest in accommodating a long‑time patient. After three decades with this practice, I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable -- just basic courtesy. The way this was handled made it clear that loyalty doesn't count for much here anymore. At this point, I'm planning to find a different dentist for myself, my kids, and anyone else I care about. I still believe they could have handled this with more understanding, but they chose not to, and that's what ultimately pushed me to move on. read more

My husband and I have gone to Grove Dental for over twenty years. We have been very impressed with the quality of care that we have received. Dr. Moss, Dr. Crowe and their dental staff are very kind, professional and highly efficient. However, since the North American Dental Group has been involved, the scheduling and check in procedures have become bureaucratic and unnecessarily onerous. I find it particularly objectionable that all the calls are routed through the call center. When I call the dentist's office about my individual care, I expect to talk to someone who can actually answer my questions. This has led to a situation where I have been unable to schedule a 6 month routine dental exam. Instead, I could only schedule an appointment for 8 months out and be on a waiting list for an earlier appointment should someone else cancel. This is unacceptable! read more

I think they were bought out by private equity or some similar unfortunate buyout. Dr Kostko is no longer there. I may review again, but the new dentist was asking the dental tech for help on things that he should have been aware of and knew how to do. He was nice enough, but it is not the same place it was even a few years ago. (The dental tech saved the day and probably should be paid more than the dentist. Also had a situation where a cap Grove Dental put on, popped off, (also within the last few months). Paid $350 for the dentist (different guy, different office) to tell ME yes ME to pop it back on, he did not do a thing. The prices are astronomical, and the quality is ???? Sad after trusting this Dental Practice for many years and sending family and friends there -- will not refer anyone or recommend right now. Sad to say, because I loved this place. read more

I have been going to Grove for 15-20 years. My teeth are in good shape. No issues. RECENTLY HOWEVER, This office keeps upping their prices for worst service. I didn't have insurance until this past February, but they make sure their prices for a cleaning far exceeded the amount covered. When I left my appointment I was told I had nothing due. I received a bill once they found out I had made an appointment with another dentist for a consultation. The dentist doesn't do anything now, but check your teeth after cleaning. Everything else is pushed to the oral surgeon. The consult with this doctor usually 300-500 dollars. That doesn't include any work to be done. My dentist used to be wonderful, but he changed. He doesn't take the care that he used to. I DO NOT RECOMMEND GROVE DENTAL. read more

I've been going to Grove Dental for approximately four years now and I absolutely LOVE this place! I know that sounds strange being that it's a dental office, but the staff here are very friendly, personable and attentive. I always have a wonderful experience! The rooms are comfortable as well. At the Wheaton location I see Dr. Crowe and his assistants Patty and Kristi. Just recently I had a visit with Patty for professional teeth whitening and was astounded with the results. Because this was my family dentist growing up I didn't realize leaving your appointment with your mouth throbbing in pain and bleeding after every visit wasn't normal till I found a real dentist practice that knows what they are doing - grove dental Wheaton is a nightmare in "Dupage county clothing" in every department of their practice their negligence has caused me years of pain and suffering! from oral surgery (wisdom teeth pulled - left out some crucial after care instructions causing me a big scary infection with months of antibiotics! to orthodontics that let Invisalign dry and reseed my gums even though I told them I was in pain permanent damage done! To their longest working dentist that didn't catch the fact the filling he installed had a crack earlier on causeing the tooth to rot out and needed a root canal (DONE ELSE WHERE!) EVEN THOUGH I TOLD HIM I WAS IN EXCRUCIATING PAIN year after year!) They use out dated technology x-rays are on negatives for crying out loud! Costing $200 each I never knew how bad this place really was till I found my current dentist thank god they have corrected all the wrongs done to my teeth due to this unfortunate dentist! Lastly during covid grove dental sued me in court for the last visit - here's why a few years back (before I found my new dentist) I went in thinking they would be replacing his filling he had recently installed just fell out - they told me free of charge - then tacked on a bunch of costs I said I didn't want and couldn't pay for but then ignored me and went along doing them I told them upon leaving I asked them not to perform those services and they didn't except my insurance now I have to pay for their lawyers fees on top of their measly $400 bucks! They also harassed me with 1-2 letters a week demanding full payment with no payment plan available! They were never willing to hear I'd become homeless due to divorce and was on welfare grove dental has no heart only $ signs and incompetence must be why they are suing so many people ! If you are thinking of giving this place a try run! My current dentist is miles above this place my mouth has never in my life felt so good I'm in heaven and they take Medicare insurance GROVE DOES NOT they are snobs on top of incompetence And inappropriate talk between employees in front of patients during the work nearing sexual innuendo I'm not even kidding YUCK! Today I recieved a letter from Grove Dental in Wheaton stating from Dr Andrew Matta that my children were no longer welcome at Grove. Mind you we have Ben patients there for 12 years. Their reasoning per Sherry the office manager at the Wheaton location is because no payment has been made on my daughters braces since 2022, in which I have a contract with them and they are suppose to charge my card monthly but THEY have not. once I brought up "why is that my fault", then I was told that because we did not have a procedure done by an oral surgeon that is another reason we were let go. it was a suggested procedure, I was not aware that we were being forced to have something done that we did not see that it was imperative to have done. So, they let both my kids go from the practice who already had their braces done with them, they've already been paid from insurance, they have been taking monthly payments on a cc for one child, but not the other. We also were NEVER told or NEVER asked for any type of payment for the last year and we are there every 6 weeks. So never being asked for any payment for over a year or sent any type of letter and they just decide to say find a new orthodontist . Unbelievable! read more

I have been going to Jen (dental hygienist) and Dr. Kostko for years now. They are extremely professional and make going to the dentist actually enjoyable. I look forward to catching up with Jen and she does an amazing job at cleaning my teeth. I started with Dr. Stone as a pediatric patient and I also went to Dr. Krandell when I decided to do Invisalign. I've moved a couple times but I refuse to go anywhere else even though there are closer offices to home. Needless to say, I won't be going anywhere but Grove. read more

I have taken my children from age one to this facility and at first thought they were great. Soon I realized after the often turnover of Dentists that something was wrong with the Wheaton facility. Example: My son had all his teeth sealed and then about 3 months later my husband took him in for his cleaning. My husband called saying that the dentist is recommending his molars be sealed as they claimed the sealant wasn't showing in his chart. I was livid, how could a dentist not see sealants? I brought him in for a follow up appointment and after convincing them that his teeth WERE SEALED AT THIS VERY LOCATION A FEW MONTHS PRIOR they "magically" found the records indicating so. Unbelievable!! They are the worst!! They are ran like a large sales corporation wanting to sell any service and very disconnected to the patients. I know better now that we have moved to a private dentistry and you feel the word of difference. I only kept my children there because my daughter was finishing up her ortho requirements and I have completed payment via the contract. Maybe not all Grove Dental chains are like this, but I would steer far away from this office in Wheaton. read more

Absolutely the worst most expensive dentist office in the area. Overcharge for services, rude when asking to have bill explained. Forgot to mention they were not part of my insurance network when I asked, so my bill was much higher than I an anticipated. Wait time is long, needless procedures which cost more money per visit. Had a root canal, didn't go so well, when I called the endodontist they sent me to in DG, it took four hours for him to get back to me after I called and called due to the pain I was in after the procedure. Had to have his root canal redone this past year , and the endodontist that did this root canal called me later that same day and the next day to check to see how I was doing. Not an assistant, but the actual dentist. Glad I found a new dentistry group. I would never recommend them , ever. read more

The customer should always feel good from after a visit and that didn't happen by a landslide. The Wheaton Grove response that I read is kinda similar to the business like attitude of the Wheaton office. Horrible business management. As soon as this retainer (which is still cutting up my entire mouth over 48 hours later) is removed, I will m never return to Grove Dental. The office just called me 2 days before my appointment to cancel, and the only options that I was offered was tomorrow, or January when they had already delayed me from a 6 month appointment to a 7 month appointment, I work in healthcare and the patients always come first even if we need to work late to make it work, this is very poor customer service on their part and really shows a lack of caring about their patients. read more

I went to Grove Dental for about 2 or 3 years because they are located near my home and they have later hours. However, the patient care is mediocre and the billing department is awful. After going there for a while, I went to find out I needed a root canal. They sent me to their Downers Grove office (same exact name and all). You'd think that Grove Dentals would all be connected in terms of accounting. They're not and it has now put a dent in my credit report. All of this time I thought I was paying monthly for my root canal as well as my general dentist appointments. Well, I called to make an appointment today and was told I can no longer be treated because they sent my bill to collections. This is a total shock to me. While this office is convenient for people around Wheaton, I suggest just seeking care elsewhere. Their care is not that great, the doctor I was seeing didn't have the best bedside manner and they are not organized in terms of financial departments. read more

Grove Dental has always been very quick and efficient with appointments, scheduling and procedures. All of the staff here are fantastic at their jobs, and they make it a comfortable experience for you to come get your teeth cleaned or checked out. I've been going here since I was a kid and they have always done everything right. I have had braces, surgery in between, and retainers and none of that process was uncomfortable for me. Grove Dental is a good group, I have been going here for years. I just recently had a new crown done, which I've been happy with. I have had a couple different dentist from this group over the years, as my old dentist left recently. I now see Dr. Crowe, who is very professional and his assistant is also very nice. My only negative comment would be that it can be tough to get an emergency appointment sometimes, as their schedule fills quickly. I recommend you schedule early, as it can be tough sometimes to get an appointment with short notice. read more

Overcharged and rude when you ask for more detail. We went to see the pediatric dentist, she was good. But the price they charge is skyrocket high! Very exaggerated! Four or six cavity they charge me 3550 and another 6000 for general anesthesia and want me to pay 500 upfront. Which means a few cavity for like 10000 dollars. My son had root canal and crown at Wheaton office, we had to pay over $1000 out of pocket. Nobody told us the doctor is not in our network. Because we have had regular cleaning in the office for years, they switched us from Dr. to Dr. We never had any billing issue until crown service. Called their office, was told it is patient's responsibility to check if the doctor is in the network !! Very rude !! We are leaving for a different dentist ! Be aware their overcharge ! read more

Dr. Kostko was my dentist some years ago and I still am dealing with the consequences. I never write reviews, but feel patients need a heads up. I was born without two adult molars, so I've had gaps for years. Against my better judgement, I let him talk me into a supposedly new type of bridge that basically was on supported by one molar next to it. I expressed my concerns that it would torque that good tooth too much, but he assured me over and over that it would be fine. Sure enough shortly after, my good tooth cracked at the root and eventually had to be extracted. When this happened, all I got from him was attitude. And of course he and the oral surgeon got plenty of money. My new dentist couldn't understand why he bridged the tooth that way. Now my best option is for implants which will cost thousands. I mostly am mad at myself for not listening to my gut and trusting him. read more

I wanted to compliment Dr. Bennett and Sandra. I thought I was going to need a crown but as Dr. Bennett was preparing my tooth he said if he could make do with just a filling he would do that. That was the case which I thought was wonderful and a huge savings on my final bill. As with most people I am not a fan of the dentist but Dr. Bennett is so relaxed and good I didn't feel a thing when he was working on my tooth. He and his assistant Sandra work like a well oiled machine and often would stop to ask if I was doing OK. Dr. Bennett is my 3rd dentist at Grove (the other 2 moved) and I truly think he is the best. I live in the northern suburbs but will continue to come to Grove because of the great staff and wonderful care they give to their patients. Thank you!! read more

I was a patent here a few years back. I am absolutely terrified of the dentist. I needed an extraction on my 2nd molar on the right side. I scheduled a consultation and then an appointment. I was gearing myself up all week for this and at the last minute they tried to change my appointment. I was so upset. I would think that knowing how terrified someone is of doing this they could be a little more sympathetic. I argued telling them that I needed to get this done and that my anxiety was really high and they would just have to move someone else's appointment. They complied and I got my extraction done. No charge, my insurance covered it.... Or so I thought. About a year later I get a call from a collection agency telling me I owed them $250.00 plus interest. I tried to go on a payment plan to do this and then lost my job. I tried to work with the collection agency and they were very rude. They told me that I needed to commit to my plan or they were going to sue me. Which they did. They garnished my wages for $250.00!!! They whole thing ended up costing me $600. I will never set foot in a Grove Dental or any affiliated company ever again. I find it very disheartening that they couldn't work with me or not send me to collections. I would have been perfectly happy to pay the company instead of the collections but there was no communication. Instead I am stuck with a judgment on my credit report and a hefty court bill. I have been going to Grove Dental in Wheaton for thirteen years for my children and I. I never experienced a problem until I switched dentist for myself because Grove was out of my network. But I continued to take my kids there for services. Somehow I missed a payment for 84.00 dollars and grove took the bill to collections. When I called to make new appointments for the kids they said I have a bill in collections? I said okay how much do I owe you since I was unaware. They stated they couldn't take the payment over the phone and I was unable to make another appointment ever. I was shocked for 84.00 dollars. I had spent thousands of dollars at their facility for the past 13 years. Why wouldn't i have been informed. Well they had my mom's number they were leaving messages. As for my mother she is 72 and doesn't answer phone or even check messages. Therefore she never told me. so this is why I am writing this review. For all of you who struggle like me to manage life. A simple oversight of 84.00 turned into not being able to ever see a doctor who i was seeing for 13 years for my children. Since once your account is in collections you cant see the doctor ever again. I think they could of made better effort to contact me through email a letter home. They had my cell phone but only called the home number listed which was my mothers. How quick to collections for few dollars. Advice to those who are seeking. Compassion is not there. If you're looking for a caring, gentle dentist you need to give Grove Dental a try! I went to Grove for almost ten years, and I'm sad that I had to leave them due to moving out of state. Dr. Crowe and Jennifer were a blessing for me to find. I am terrified of going to the dentist's office and they made it much less stressful for me. They use a gentle touch, but are always thorough in their work. They go out of their way to make sure you're comfortable, and they're efficient at their work. The office is always very clean, the staff is kind and professional, and there's a tv and windows in each room. I always opted for the laughing gas which was something I was thankful to be able to use during any fillings. I'm thankful for my positive experiences there.
