I've worked with both Dr. Kalokhe and Dr. Wong at the Downers Grove location in 2024-2026 and many years ago in their former Chicago location for diagnostics, root canal, and apicoectomy. This review is based on many years of experience. They did a good job giving me different options for treatment -- both what my general dentist recommended and alternatives. For example, while my general dentist thought a tooth could not be saved, the apicoectomy performed by Dr. Wong was able to avoid extraction. Both did a good job explaining my situation in a direct manner. Dr. Wong has a big personality but he backs it up with professional work. They provide insurance and out of pocket estimates so you know what you'll pay for different options. read more

This review is based on my two experiences. My first experience with Dr Jukas was great. Unfortunately my 2nd experience w Dr Wong was not. Due timing and pain I took the first avail appointment with Dr Wong. I waited one hr for my appointment to start. I could hear Dr Wong w his other patient talking. Sounded like he Spend more time talking about his Telsa, cars, etc versus patient treatment. Which is fine if that patient was ok with. But I am sitting in the next room still waiting for my consult which is already one hour late. Dr. Wong didn't acknowledge or apologize for the long wait. Without looking at my mouth, a 2 sec look at the X-ray rambled a lot of confusing information. He spent more time on making notice of how my hair was done, looking at my shoes, ear rings etc, which became uncomfortable. Dr. Wong was very arrogant, and what he claims is his ice breaker was to ask about my nationality.... He questioned my last name and asked if I was sure my last name was from the ethinicity. Than he questioned if i was married. My nationality is and was irrelevant to the purpose of my visit. He clearly has not had any DEI training. Dr Wong didnt believe his ice breaker is/was culturally insensitive and told me that I was sensitive and he would make note of it. Dr Wong than went to use a common foods in my culture as an analogy to describe my issue. Dr Wong was all over the place explaining the treatment place, bc in the middle of his explaination he kept making comments about my look... which he justified as being "observant". He should be more observant in the care he provides not a persons looks including the items they are wearing. His front desk couldn't explain the itemize bill or what they call care plan Dr Wong was ready to take my tooth out that minute bc they said he was quick and had an opening. They could clearly see I was confused by what was going on. I declined to take action bc I needed to consult my dentist bc I was surprised by Dr Wong saying I had a bacteria eating away at my bone. After thinking over and waiting for the email plan, I called back for an appointment w Dr Jurkas as a 2nd opinion since I had a good and educational experience for my first root canal. I clearly remember Dr J saying why try to save the tooth first. To my surprise Dr Wong called me bc they shared w him that I was not happy w my experience w him and wanted a 2nd opinion. I brought to Dr Wong's attention the above concerns I did not like. Dr Wong was condescending by responding some ppl are slow to understand. I stopped him there and again brought to his attention his rude and unprofessional response. During our call when I brought to his attention the insensitivity of my culture he thought it was ok bc he had a lot of friend in the "x" culture. I than brought to his attention that is not my culture... He clearly was looking at my file picture and again made and assumption. He didn't catch it on his own that he was associating me w another culture when i was telling him what my culture was. Dr Wong was very arrogant and rude to say Dr Jurkas was not going to be able to do the work I needed and that he works under him. Dr Wong response was a narcissist response. I decided to end the call by saying I need To take my services somewhere else. I asked for the email w the recap if his consult I still hadn't received it. 10 min later Dr Wong called me back I sent him to voicemail bc I was working. To my surprise I get a unprofessional text message saying... "I know you are screening calls."To close the loop I acknowledge the email being received: I thought we were done...No he calls me again... now this was starting to be harassment. I picked up the call and just listen to Dr Wong ramble... "I can give you recommendations for a new consultative exam. " Than he started to explain to me what should've happen day one. The worse, worse experience by one Dr Wong. Which is unfortunate bc my experience w Dr J was pleasant. The staff here is fabulous, and Dr. Cristina Olarov is a talented, gentle and compassionate doctor! My dentist referred me to this place when I developed a condition that we thought at first was TMJ, and turned out to be something different and more complicated. Dr. Olarov explained to me exactly what was going on and explained what options were available. She provided a detailed report to my dentist immediately, with copies of scans taken, so I can discuss with him and make a decision about how to proceed. First time visit to Renovo. Dr. Wang performed the root canal. The entire office experience went very, very well. The treatment rooms have a large screen TV and a smaller screen TV to watch while you are reclining during the treatment. The large screen TV is also used for the doctor to show you your x-rays to explain the problem. Dr. Wang has a wonderful demeanor and is always making sure that you are comfortable during the procedure. Even with waiting 20 minutes for the novocaine to numb my gums completely, I was in and out of the office within an hour. read more

I had a root canal done by a different endodontic back in 2018 and started having quite a bit of pain after Thanksgiving this year. Turned out there was some bacteria that had set in and caused issues, so Dr. Barseghyan did an xray and looked at and said that one of the roots needed to be cleaned out and filled with meds and after a month cleaned out. He was very knowledgeable and explained everything thoroughly. Dr. Barseghyan was very friendly and professional, with a good beside manner. He put me at ease and fixed the problem. I'm now pain free and doing much better. The office was able to get me in right away, which I appreciated. I was at the Downers Grove office and then the Schaumburg office the second time and both offices had friendly staff who were easy to work with. I did have some problems getting the DG office to return calls through the first number I called, but found a direct DG phone number (or so it seemed) and was able to get through right away and get in with an emergency appt. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for dental work done. read more

This goes back to less than 2 years ago, when I got referral from my dentist to do my root canal there. I had to take a few hours off work to make my appointment. Once I got there, the receptionist started giving me attitude despite showing her the referral and told me she needs to confirm it with my dentist. I had to wait there calling my dentist so she could talk to someone.. after about AN HOUR!! she started giving me attitude about the costs, when I asked about how much a CT scan would cost and she was lying to me telling me it costs $250 PER TOOTH!!! and I needed a CT scan for my entire jaw.. so I told her I have had CT scans before and she argued back and forth that she could reduce it to $200 but its only for one tooth... so I decided not to proceed with the CT Scan. I needed an evaluation and once I lied down one of the endodontists literally started poking at my gum and tooth, but I assumed she was helping me. I tried not to make any sounds but then an Indian endodontist interrupted us and told me to get out and he is not providing service to me, not sure why, but apparently cause I was debating over CT scan prices with his secretary. I literally wanted to puke from the public shaming he made me go through, I am traumatized. Anyway, I almost got fired because I was late to work, and they charged my insurance later and I got a hefty bill for NO SERVICES!! I wish I had written a review back then but I was terrified of the Indian guy who almost got physical with me.. they got my name, number and home address. It seems they either got rid of that guy or he was just visiting that office that day.. I hope I never cross paths with anyone from that clinque.. that receptionist had ZERO concern over the fact I had an appointment and referral and made me wait for nothing.. and almost convinced me to pay her thousands for a partial CT scan. I have had several CT scans, and without insurance it cost me $150 for the entire jaw and at times they waiver it. The endodontists who work there might be good at what they do, but the system is corrupt to allow such low and rude people into their workplace that argue with patients and try to rob them when they are in pain and need help.. very disturbing. Very disappointed. I went here to check on pain that still lingered after a root canal and apicoectomy. Doctor palpated the surrounding teeth and said nothing was wrong and just told me to avoid spicy food. Did not take any x rays or scans despite me feeling something was wrong(saying that I was "too young.") Years later with the pain, went somewhere else where they immediately took a 3D scan and detected failure to resolve the infection. read more

I have had more dental work than I care to admit. I have had pain free and painful work done. I have root canals that need to be redone or things that break after a week. Here's the long and short of it. I'm done looking for new endodontic dentists. This place rocked. Pain free quality work. The entire experience from start to finish was good. Dr. Wang and her assistant, Eses, helped alleviate all the fear I had with having my tooth extracted (and being in the dentists' chair, overall). I had my first molar removed. With great patience and diligence, Dr. Wang spent significant care into the operation. Eses accomodated to my every concern and was honest when she could not answer my concerns 100%. This high quality professional service was definitely required when searching for a great team of oral surgeons! Dr. Wang made sure I was doing well the next day with a courtesy call follow-up.] To add, the desk rep was very informative during my first visit. She answered my concerns with insurance and coverage. It has been two weeks post-op and I was amazed at how little to no discomfort the week of. Broke a crown and a part of my tooth so I scheduled an appointment to see if something could be done other than going through an implant procedure. I have had work done through Renovo but in their Schaumburg office. Same Doctors they move back and forth between facilities. Doctor Wong worked his magic and was able to add some posts and build up the tooth so a crown can be fitted. That will be done by my regular dentist in a couple days. Fingers crossed. I can easily recommend Dr. Wong if you need a root canal or other endodontic work. He makes everything done virtually painless. read more

Unfortunately I can't recommend this facility and here's why. Under 2 years ago I was referred to these people by my primary dentist since they don't do root canal work in house. So I went for what was portrayed to me as an 'evaluation' of my condition. My primary gave me a tiny little x-ray frame to take with me. The doctor looked at the x-ray then tested my teeth for sensitivity to cold and vibration to verify which tooth was the problem. Her test was painful and so she proceeded to do a root canal. I was mystified how an evaluation visit suddenly turned into a procedure. Either I'm dense or this was all standard operating procedure. I asked how much this was going to run me and was shocked at the fee, which seemed high, about double what I paid for a similar procedure in Los Angeles several years before. I agreed to proceed because I felt I had no alternative plan of action and I was in discomfort. The doctor and assistant prepped me and dove in with no further x-ray or other deep probing to determine what was going on inside. The procedure took approx 90 min to do and it was all completed on this one visit, which seemed strange because the last root canal I had in LA took two visits. One visit to clean it out and pack with disinfectant. The second visit to finish cleaning out the canals and permanently fill in. The doctor and assistant's 'chair-side' manner was cold and unsympathetic. They made me keep my mouth open for 90 painful minutes with no help from a 'bite-block'. They repeatedly asked me to open wider. After about 45 minutes I was ready to punch someone due to my jaw muscles being fatigued. It was finally finished and I was released from the chair, paid via Visa card and left. Went back to my primary dentist shortly thereafter to have a crown put on. Together it was a very expensive set of procedures when all was said and done. But now here is the kicker....Recently, pain came back in the region of my mouth that the people in my story above worked on so I acquired a new dentist because I was not satisfied with the other crew of two different offices/visits. The new dentist, with in-house endodontist, did a similar evaluation of x-rays, cold tolerance and vibration sensitivity. The new doctor told me it looked like the previous work had new problems and proceeded to do a 3D X-ray of that area of my mouth. (3D is an amazing technology which shows everything from all angles). They determined that this root canal and another from 10 years ago had to be re-treated. They showed me on the x-ray the area of bone that was infected and explained how this was the cause of my current pain. And explained that if not treated the bone will eventually disintegrate requiring the teeth to be removed permanently and replaced with other stuff. (Not a good solution in my book). They explained the procedures they would perform (2 visits per tooth), the cost involved and many other detailed answers to my questions. By the way, their fees were considerably less than that of Renovo. Their thoroughness was outstanding. Their chair-side manner is friendly and warm and they use a 'bite-block' to help keep my mouth open for the 90 minutes of the first visit and 60 minutes of the second visit. My new dentist is truly amazing and I would recommend them to anyone looking for great service at prices that are fair. But I won't do that here. Bottom Line: There are other alternatives out there for Endodontic work, I recommend you look into it before visiting these folks. Get a second opinion because these procedures are time consuming and expensive. read more

Not only do they find pain and problems but all they do to fix them is cause you more pain and problems. It takes a really evil person to want to be a dentist. So imagine the type of person who wants to open an endodontic studio and VOLUNTARILY does root canals! Forget the dental visit just pull out the tooth right?! Well hold on to your molars for a second and let me tell you about this little shop in Downers Grove that juuuust might change your mind. Renovo is not your typical, dinky dental office with neon flashing lights. It really is a studio that offers a modern and fresh look that makes you think you've entered the museum of modern art. And then, enter Dr. Wong. If you took away all the glitz and glamour and all the fancy tools and shiny windows and walls, you would still have one of the finest offices that offers some of the best patient care I've seen from any dentist. Dr. Wong's professionalism is second to none and as his patient, you don't receive just a treatment, you receive an experience and an education. His work is efficient and of high quality but what separates him from the rest is his insistence that you as his patient understand what he is doing and why. If you have a question, you can feel free to ask it. Too long has the patient-provider relationship been one of a hierarchy. Dr. Wong brings back the patient-centered care and makes his patients feel comfortable and well taken care of. Going to the dentist is a scary experience, there is no doubt about that. The mouth is a very sacred and personal area of our lives and the last thing most of us want is someone looking in to see all our deep and smelly secrets. But with Dr. Wong, you know that he will treat not only your mouth but you as a patient with respect and care. Should the need for dental care come up whether it be a root canal or an implant, I would take my family, friends, relatives, pets, action figures, and even all 150 pokemon I've caught on my gameboy to see Dr. Wong. read more

Dr. Wang is wonderful and she did a nice job with my 2 root canals. I would give her a full 5 stars but this is for the office as a whole. The 2 stars is because the receptionist, Felicia, was extremely unprofessional and isn't good at her job. I had 2 root canals in November 2017 by Dr. Wang. In January I started having severe pain in the same area and my dentist advised me to return to see Dr. Wang. I called Renovo and explained my situation and Felicia told me the soonest appointment was 3 weeks out. My dentist called their office because there was no way I could wait 3 weeks with the pain I was having. Dr. Wang called me herself and said she could see me the next day! She literally said she has openings the entire week and wasn't sure why the receptionist (Felicia) didn't offer me a sooner appt. Dr. Wang said she would talk to Felicia and make sure she didn't do this again. Fast forward to my actual appt- I had to have one of my root canals slightly redone and during the procedures some of the bleach solution that is used was injected too far and went into my sinus cavity. I immediately felt a burning/pressure sensation in my cheek and ear from this. Dr. Wang said if the pain persisted to call the office. I called the front desk about 25 minutes after I left because the pain was getting worse and I was practically in tears. Felicia answered the phone- I explained to her what happened during the procedure and how severe the pain was and that I wanted to speak with Dr. Wang. She literally told me that it wasn't from the procedure and it was probably just the cold air outside that aggravated my teeth causing pain. Are you kidding me? That explanation doesn't even make sense. She never put me through to Dr. Wang and basically said you're SOL. She is not a medical assistant/nurse/healthcare provider so she is in NO position to be giving medical advice or answering my questions directed to Dr. Wang. I had to call the next day because my nose was draining the bleach solution and the pain was horrible. A different receptionist answered this time and said Dr. Wang would call me in a few minutes. I had to call again an hour later and no one answered. I left a voice mail and didn't get a call back so my dentist called and left a message. Dr. Wang called me (she's very sweet) and I explained what was happening and asked her if Felicia mentioned this to her when i called right after my appt. She said she was never made aware of my pain and that she would have a conversation with her about how to appropriately speak with patients. Dr. Wang was able to help me by prescribing antibiotics and some pain medicine. She also called me the next day to check on me. I really like Dr. Wang and the work she does but the front staff is a joke. read more

I cannot explain enough just how at ease I was made for what could have been a very unpleasant experience. At no time did I deal like anything mattered more than my potential root canal or in my instance two root canals. They didn't push what would have made them the most money, but instead pushed what was best for me and making sure that only what needed to be done was done. My dentist in South Elgin referred me to Renovo & I had an appointment with Dr. Wang. The office is quite modern, clean and inviting. No paperwork; everything is electronic and all I had to do was sign on an iPad screen when I got there. Dr Wang has a very calming, patient "bedside" manner and she assured me all would go smoothly and the worst part of getting my molar root canal done would be the novocaine pricks, but I honestly didn't even feel those! I had no pain before, during or after this root canal of one of my major teeth which actually had 3 canals/roots that needed to be treated. I highly recommend Dr. Wang to anyone needing a root canal. I really can't say "Oh I'd rather get a root canal than do THAT!" because honestly getting a root canal from Dr Wang was such a pleasant experience! read more

This studio provided my ideal dental experience. I first made an appointment over the phone. The office emailed me details such as date/time of my appointment, which doctor, which location, directions, and instructions on how to complete my new patient paperwork. This saved a lot of time for when I visited the office. Two days prior to my appointment date, I received a phone call to remind me and confirm my appointment for the date/time/location. This was helpful because after all, there are 3 locations and 4 doctors. The day of the appointment was simple and smooth. I was acknowledged with a warm welcome by the office staff, checked in, then was brought back to a room, Dr. Wong started treatment, couple jokes here and there, finished treatment, then went home. I wish more offices and businesses in other industries operate like Renovo Endodontic Studio -- professionally and efficiently. read more

This is my 2nd time seeing Dr. Wong at Renovo. Both times were for molar extractions. This visit was here at his Downers Grove office. All the staff at the Renovo offices are super friendly and very attentive to your needs and concerns. This office is very spacious with tv's in the rooms to watch to help take your mind of the work being done. Today I was in to have 2 upper molars extracted. The process was pain free. Dr. Wong is a master at his work ensuring you are well numbed up and comfortable during the entire process. From start to finish of the extraction, Dr. Wong had my 2 molars extracted in under 5 minutes, pain free. As expected, when my dentist told me I needed a root canal - the second on the same tooth, I cringed. He referred me to Renovo Endodontics in Downers Grove and I couldn't be happier. I saw 2 doctors - Dr. Weinfei Wang (Harvard dental grad) for a consult. She left for maternity leave the next day, so I booked the procedure with Dr. Neerma Moussa - equally amazing. Smart, empathic, super quick - did everything to keep me calm and comfortable. She managed to save the existing crown which will save me a ton of money and anxiety as well. Highly recommend the practice and both doctors. The practice itself is extremely modern - nicely decorated, sunny and bright. The ambience instills a sense of confidence and calm - you instantly feel that it's going to be the best experience possible. read more

My dentist recommended this office and another office. I called another dentist I know and he recommended this one as well. So I made an appointment for the next week (earliest opening). Next morning my tooth was killing me so I called to see if they had a wait list to see if I could get in earlier. They had just had a cancellation that morning so I drove on over. They looked at the tooth and confirmed they could do the work (there was an issue of whether the situation was so bad that I might need an extraction). I asked how soon and they were able to do it right away. He drilled in, cemented things up (I had a nasty crack on the inside and outside of the tooth), and ground it down so a cap could be put on. I think about 1.5 hours total? So then I go back to the dentist for the crown fitting. She was absolutely gushing about the quality of the work done by Dr. Wong! Had other people from the office come in and look at it as well. Based upon her reaction, I am 100% confident that Dr. Wong did an incredible job with my tooth. I am a fan and as I talk with other dentists when I help them buy and sell their businesses, plan to mention this office so they can get more business. Atmosphere is nice, very professional, and very much with the times - send nice follow up email, etc. So that all is fine as well, but the quality of the work is most important and definitely ranks as 5 stars. read more

Where do I even begin!! This place is amazing and its just a dental office. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly as soon as you walk in. They make you feel right at home. So lets start from the beginning, having been working in the dental field for the last 10 years its really hard to let just anyone work on your teeth, after having a subpar experience at another local endodontist office with billing issues i decided I would look for another office that was actually a PPO provider and in network with my insurance, enter Dr. Wong and his office. I ran across his new office that had just opened in Downers Grove, so I decided to check out any review and as usual do my long investigative research into the office and Dr. Nothing but good reviews and aside from that it was just about 8 mins away from the dental office I work at. So I decided to call. Call went to voicemail after several rings and I opted against leaving a message as I thought I would just call another time. Well no kidding about 5 mins later I got a call from Dr. Wong himself, might I say Impressive, what doctor takes the time to call back a number that didnt even leave a message WOW! brownie point number 2 for him. After a quick chat about previous experience and what was going on he asked me to send over the xray and that he would make an exception and see me the next day at 5 mind you his hours were 11-5 that day meaning he was willing to see me after hours brownie point number 3. Well lets get to the point I walked into the office was seated promptly Dr. Wong was very through in explaining what was going on with my tooth and what needed to be done. It helped a lot that he has a sense of humor and made the time go by faster all in all I was there just under an hour and the actual procedure I kid you not was maybe about 30 mins total. I am beyond please with my experience and would definitely go back if I ever needed another RCT (i hope I dont). Dr. Wong and his team are awesome as I trust the other Dr's and up to par with Dr. Wong. If I could give them more stars I would. read more

Never have I had such a painless dental procedure. Dr. Wong was amazing and everything was explained thoroughly. I went from being in excruciating pain to almost back to normal in a matter of hours. He fixed what was an original root canal that was not thoroughly done the first time seven years ago. Needed a root canal done. I made my appointment with Renovo by phone (within a week). I was able to e-mail them a copy of my X-ray forwarded from my general dentist and so I avoided paying for additional X-rays. I filled my forms online before my appointment. When I arrived I was impressed by how nice and modern the clinic looked. The check-in process took less than a minute. My wait also was less than a minute. Dr. Moussa saw me within 5 minutes and explained what I needed. Before she started they reviewed my insurance coverage and my out-of-pocket expenses. The procedure started shortly and there was minimal pain throughout. While I was having he procedure done I was watching TV which is a nice plus. The procedure was completed and I was out of the office in less than a hour. I am a doctor myself and would be hard pressed to provide such high level of efficiency and experience to my patients. I hope I don't have to go back there but would certainly return if I needed more endodontic work done read more

I have had a few root canals and always dread them. Typically you are in much discomfort and your mouth is very sore. Not to mention you sit in the chair just waiting for most of the time. Not the case with Dr. Wong. He explained everything and why he does it while it is taking place and gets you in and out asap. I was out of there quicker then a normal filling or simple tooth cleaning. I could not have asked for a better root canal. read more
