Such an odd named place, but if you happen to be an vintage car collector or automotive memorabilia fanatic, you will certainly appreciate the unique business that Grump (the owner) has built. This place adds flavor to the charming historic district located on Main Street, Old Town Lake Elsinore. Grump is a passionate, loud talking eccentric, who cannot be mistaken for anything other than a biker type, sporting a wild growth of hair on his face and a pierced earring, Get him talking about vintage cars, auto races, or his love of country western and authentic Southern bluegrass music, memorabilia, and original hillbilly musical instruments, and you better not be in a hurry to go anywhere else. He will talk your arm off with a lifetime of knowledge and let his genuinely raucous laugh sneak in...even though he prefers to only be known as "Grump". Besides being a worldwide seller of vintage (circa 1950's and earlier), American car parts, this store is also his beloved museum! You do not need to pay to gaze in admiration. One novice Yelp reviewer unfairly rated him a one star review after she disrespected his lifetime collections by handling his fragile, original condition things, and he reacted predictably, as anyone would. Her pettiness is unfair, these are things that he has treasured, many of which are irreplaceable, and many have special stories attached. And there *are* signs posted to warn you. There is a huge, well organized and labeled inventory of vintage car parts, large and small, for sale here, but they are on the lower shelves. Don't touch those rare and eye-catching nostalgic items on the upper shelf and those mounted on the walls. You will know...if it is something you must see or have...just ask him first. My friend Joe and I walked into Grumps-Garage on Friday, Sept 25th. It was a pleasure meeting Grump for the first time. He was pleasant and welcoming. We talked as if we had been friends forever; and Joe and I stopped by, just to chit-chat. We've talked about everything from records to hot rods. Grump is very knowledgeable about antiques and music. Called him today looking for a part that he doesn't necessarily carry, he stayed a little longer for me to get there and see if his part would work for me, it didn't But he did recommended a nearby shop that might have it and they did. Had a great conversation with both of them and they are very good honest shop, almost wish I had an old Ford instead of my VW, but will stop in again just to see what they have when time permits. He was very hospitable to my wife and I, even let us walk his aisle looking at all his vintage stuff. The owner was VERY rude when my friends and I came in. First off, he couldn't be bothered to look away from the football game on his lap top, to greet us. We walked around for a bit, then my friend had a question. His remark was rude and pompous. Ok, I'll let that one slide. I started looking for records, then I had some questions. Again, his tone was as if I was stupid, uncool, and he wanted us to leave. So we did. I live right up the street from is shop. I have a 55 Ford pickup. I AM HIS CLIENT BASE. I love this store, never had a problem with rudeness, I loved walking through it and seeing all the vintage stuff, unfortunately people can't read all the signs that say do not touch and he had to put a counter in the front so you can no longer walk through the store and enjoy it, the funny part is the people that do touch things and get called out for it want to play the victim and call somebody rude when in fact you're the rude one for touching in the first place!!! I have been dealing with the owner of this company since his start. He is an unbelievably honest guy and has a wealth of information when it comes to vintage Fords and music. His shop is amazing and I think it's really cool that he often has concerts in house. If I lived closer I would always hang out there or ask for a job. I look forward to seeing his business grow. The store is beautiful, very clean and extremely organized. The collection (some for sale and some not for sale) is immense and amazing. The store has a wonderful collection of antiques mainly in the "garage" genre. Those who are fixing up an old Ford are sure to find items of interest here. There is also collections of albums, metal signs and ancient magazines for collectors. The owner is very knowledgeable. read more

I really enjoy coming to Grumps and see all of the vintage items that available. I mainly come for the pomade, which there is a wide selection of. Mark knows his stuff when it comes to his products. I was mainly a Suavecito user but Mark introduced me to Chops and by far the best decision I've made. Went to Grumps Garage today and it is probably the coolest shop i have been to in a loooonnngg time. The owner is way cool and down to earth. They have a music selection of cd's you would not believe. Its a true american shop with a great vibe sticks to the 40's and 50's era and is just amazing. They do live shows and have great decals for cars and your wall at home....love it! read more
