I'm from out of town and was visiting my parents. I stumbled upon this place and I was very disappointed. I have a Traxxas Slash with a broken my axle boot. I tried explaining to the gentleman what I needed and I even said I have the car with me so I can show him. He said no need, I know what you need. Since I'm a little older he probably thought that he can get me for a complete set of MIP CVDs and even recommended I get new bearings. Come on guy I'm just trying to get my car running again. Well needless so say I went home and immediately went to Tony's Hobbies in La Puente and spent $6 to get my car running. The service at Tony's Hobbies was so impressive I ended up buying. TRX4 Defender without any pressure at all. I don't recommend this place because my experience was that they were trying to upsell me from a $6 part to $71 upgrade. Chad and Mike are awesome! Very helpful and knowledgeable. Been racing 1/10th scale RC cars for the last few years down in San Diego. Recently got a 1/8th scale buggy and been making the trip out to The Dirt at Perris for racing. Needed to get some extra parts for my car as my local San Diego rc shop only has 1/10th scale parts. After going into Mike's Hobbies several times it's always been such a great experience. So much so in the last month or so I have expanded my 1/8th scale fleet and have since purchased 3 more kits from them along with all the goodies. I've recently just discovered mikes hobby shop Chad and the owner mike are always in there and were extremely helpful in getting my son and I into our newest hobby of electric RC Car racing . As most rookies we soon had to return for repairs for our new hobby. After checking with 2 other hobby stores in OC (wasted time driving to both), neither carried the replacement parts we needed . I I called chad and before I even said what I needed for repairs he said we have it and to bring the car in. While I was waiting for the repair which he did in 5 mins (since all repairs only take 5. Mins according to customers ), i was very pleased to know I could pick up the car within a couple hours . the only "negative" is they have too much cool stuff to buy so I bought another one ‍ So I'm sure I'll be back for repairs soon owning 2 cars . Been coming here for the last 6 years since moving to the area. I never had read the reviews before going in (there's always 2 sides to a story/review). save your your money. don't come here. the owner of this "store" begged me to erase my previous negative review because he implied during our conversation that he wanted to resolve this situation. i did out out of good faith.. he then reniged on the spirit of the conversation. the situation:. i brought in my custom drone for repairs they but and for some reason, according to the owner they threw it in the garage and refused to compensate me for the error on their part. the owner says that he had me on video "asking" him to dispose of it from "from three camera angle with audio". when asked for a copy of this video he was unable to provide it. he was unable to provide this video because he is lying and the conversation never happened. i personally find mike (the owner) to be dishonorable and unprofessional by any reasonable standard of business. save your money and do not take a chance of getting ripped off!!!!! i am not happy with the outcome of this service as i trusted this quaint little community shop as much as anyone would who wanted to support a mom and pop store. however, i was wholly disappointed and i feel as an mba that it is my duty to save others for taking this lost. he still has my money and my drone so i am out both. i left him in care of my drone for repairs and he and a professional duty to keep it for a reasonable amount of time and make and effort to reach me before disposal it. he did neither. i trusted him and i feel disturbed at his callousness and conduct. be warned!!!!! Went to Mike's Hobby to have them fix a problem with my RC car wheel. Paid $100 dollars and got car back. Took it over to the beach and ran it for about 15 minutes and the same problem with wheel happened again. I called the shop and was basically told by Chad to try and fix it myself. I explained that I had paid money to have them fix problem and I know absolutely nothing about fixing RC cars. He told me that I can bring it back. So my wife and daughter went back to the shop. The store associate insinuated that its not the same problem as before and tried to charge another $35-$40 to fix the same problem. It was the EXACT SAME problem which was not fixed properly the first time. I think they are FULL OF IT and would not recommend this place due to a lack of professionalism, customer service, or expertise. read more

As a worker of a local business I like to keep my business local as I like when customers shop local in my business Before I tell you my story let me tell you the back story I have a Traxxas 2wd and the motor went out so I went to mikes hobby shop to replace it while I was there Chad tried to up sell me brushless motor I didn't find the need for it and just replaced it with the regular one at $35 dollar on my way out Chad told me that in the future if I wanted to replace the motor with a brushless motor I could bring in the old motor to receive a $ 30 credit toward the purchase of a brushless motor I left and about a week later that motor went out so At this point I'm ready to upgrade to a brushless motor so I called mikes hobby to make sure that promotion was still going on and the guy I talked to told me yes it was , all excited I went home and got the motor out of the rc car the next day I headed to mikes hobby shop and this is where everything goes sideways. I walked in and Chad was behind the counter with another guy , the other guy helped as Chad was busy at the current moment I walked up to the register and explained to the guy what I was looking to accomplish and put the motor on the counter the guy then asked me for another part off my rc , I explained to the guy that all that was told to me was that I needed the motor , he then proceeded to tell me it is what it is at this moment Chad jumped in and told me I could pay full retail and return my old motor and stuff for a store credit I asked Chad why I would do that it makes no sense he then proceeded to tell me I could talk to the owner where I asked if he was there and available , chad said yes and that the owner Mike was walking up right now. I waited a few minutes as mike was busy when he got done Chad told mike this guy has a concern for you, Mike then asked how he could help I proceeded to tell mike the situation where mike then proceeded to lower his mask and step towards me yelling at me that they made a mistake , due to mikes aggression the original guy that helped me told mike to calm down mike then offered me pay full retail for the brushless motor and at a later time I could bring in my old motor and get the $30 refund for whatever reason so made I swiped my card for $182 and left so upset , realizing how much I spent and how upset I was I called mike and asked for a full refund where he agreed I went back in got my money back and later wrote mikes hobby on Facebook where he proceeded to call me cocky and disrespectful and proceeded to threaten me and my company see pictures below Urgent update the owner mike of mikes hobby actually came by my place of business being rude and disrespectful , demanding to speak to the manager over me in regards to the bad experience I had at his shop , this man has anger issues and will stalk you based off a shirt you wear into his shop read more

This is the worst store ever! I have previously ordered all my cars and parts through here till recently... i have had nothing but great experiences with the employees till i spoke with the manager/owner mike. I made the phone call on my lunch break in San Clemente over and hour away from the store. I live here so i rely on mikes hobby's shipping even though i have driven there before. I called to see if they had a part in stock, manager mike was the one i spoke with... they did have the part. He then proceeded to explain that he will not put it on hold for me to come get after work, he would not add it to the website for my to order bc it was only a 10$ part! I then offered to buy lots of other things in the website in order for him to make enough money to add the part on the website. He said NO every person and part of the store is to busy, if you can't come get it now it will probably be gone by the end of the day. So every do yourself a favor and order your cars and parts from someone else who appreciates their customers that help keep their store going especially in these times.... this store sucks Also the store doesn't wear masks been there twice and not a single one on the employees... read more
