I've brought a lot of my mom's vintage boots here for heel tap repairs, multiple pairs of fryes for sole repair, multiple pairs of booties to get sole and front tip repair, and I always get my heel taps replaced here. They also repair purses as well and other leather goods. I've been coming to G's for over a decade and actually look forward to the experience of getting my shoes back in much better shape than I leave them. I walked into this business with a pair of worn out sneakers; and worn out they were! They had a couple of rips in them, but one on the top was extra noticeable. I probably should have just thrown them away, but I'm particularly attached to these shoes because they have a wedge that helps when riding my motorcycle; they're my motorcycle shoes! I started the conversation with the owner by saying, these shoes are probably at the end of their life, but I thought I'd at least ask to see if there is something a professional could do to save them. He said, no problem! I'll fix this hole and I'll fix that hole. I was like, really??? great!!! A few days later, I came back to pick up the shoes, and they looked awful! I knew they wouldn't look perfect, but they did not match at all whatsoever. A slab of leather was sewn on top of one of the holes, cut noticeably uneven and sloppy. Another slab of leather was sewn over another hole on the side, which came down into the white soul of the shoe. No part of my sneakers were leather. When I told the owner how I felt, he proceeded to say he had told me they were going to look that way. umm, no. If you had told me they were going to look that way, the answer to my, are they salvageable question, would have have been a hard no! He said, well, what do you want? I said, I dunno. I'm just going to toss them at this point. The owner then said, fine! grabbed my shoes, and dropped them into the garbage. He did end up giving me a refund, but it was absolutely an awkward, unenjoyable experience...to say the least. Guess I'm in the market for new motorcycle shoes. read more

I wanted to update this with some detail, now that I've been elsewhere. I came in here with a pair of boots that had a ripped liner, and two older pairs of heels (4-6 years old) that needed some TLC. The owner started off by telling me there was nothing he could do about any of them, then called me irresponsible and started berating me for causing the damage myself (yes, obviously, I was the wearer of the shoes. They are shoes. That were several years old. With normal wear and tear!) There was nothing crazy about the repairs requested, and even so, who acts like that? I was honestly speechless for a few minutes because the nastiness and attitude was so unexpected and unprovoked. At that point I packed my shoes up and started to leave and of course THEN he started making offers of what he "thought" he could do for exorbitant prices. I said I didn't appreciate how I had been spoken to and he had the gall to counter that with saying he didn't need to tolerate my attitude... after he had just spent the last several minutes hurling insults my way. I ended up taking my shoes to the Village Cobbler, and all were repaired well with great quality and efficiency. A special bonus was that no one there made me feel like Sh** about myself for no reason... It's not funny, and it's not a schtick. The owner is a mean old man who is rude to customers for no reason and shouldn't be encouraged or supported. read more

WOW! Service is amazing here. I found this repair shop here on Yelp and even though it was a bit out of my neighborhood it was absolutely worth it! I brought my favorite leather boots in on a Saturday and I had a seam that was torn around the ankle from lazily taking them on and off and they needed a good clean/ shine after two winters of use. I was quoted Monday and they were ready right on time. I picked them up and they are just as good as new again. I am so thankful I do not need to buy a new pair this winter. When you find a boot you love it is hard to let go of them. Excellent quality and extremely fair prices. For under $30 I have new boots again! Thank you so much! read more

They resurrected my favorite pair of dress shoes. I had worn through the rubber heel which was only an 1/8" thick, into the wood above it. They were able to replace the wood and build up the new rubber sole much thicker at my own request without modifying the look of the shoe. Not only that, but I dropped them off on Friday and picked them up on Saturday! I will be coming back! read more

Thanks to YELP, I found G's Sole Express. For a week I had been looking for a great local cobbler. I stopped in many other shops and was turned away with my moto boots still in need of repair. My wife and I ride our motorcycles about 15K to 25K miles per year. I would rather have my BMW boots resoled than buy a new pair for 3x the price (more money for fuel).
