What an absolute stellar experience doing business with PJ!…read more Me and my friend flew in from Hawai'i to enjoy the Tail of the Dragon and decided to go through PJ because they offered sports bikes while other rental places did not. He corresponded with us promptly months in advance, making sure all our questions were answered and texted us a few days prior to our pick-up date to confirm everything. We had a minor hick-up finding the place, but rest-assured, we arrived after calling PJ and picked up our bikes: a Triumph Street Triple R and Suzuki GSX-R600. After talking and getting to know us as drivers, as well as show us around the shop, we signed the necessary waivers and off we drove down to the Tail. I must be honest, and this is by no means a deterrent to using this company as a rental option, but the trip did have a few hiccups. After our first day riding the Tail and staying at our lodging, the following day saw my GSX go down (electronically, not physically) and would not throttle. I contacted PJ, who was extremely apologetic and very quick to address the situation and drove the hour or so drive to personally drop off a Triumph Daytona 675 and pick up the GSX. Talk about taking care of your clients! I enjoyed the majority of my remaining day on the Daytona (riding to Franklin and back). Unfortunately (but somewhat luckily), about 10 minutes away from the lodging, the Daytona's electronics shut off all of a sudden. After finding my way back to the lodging, we contacted PJ who was, once again, in huge disbelief and very apologetic. I must note that the time the Daytona went down was around nightfall and PJ asked me again to choose another bike and he drove back down again to drop of my newly-chosen FZ09, and pick up his Triumph. Needless to say, I was not upset in the slightest as PJ was genuinely remorseful and went out of his way to remedy the situation. The following day was spent enjoying the FZ09 on the Skyway without a single hiccup. After our 3-day rental, it was time to return the bikes. My friend's Triumph had zero issues and the FZ09 had none either. Upon returning the bikes, PJ apologized once more for what had happened and explained what had happened to the other bikes. No harm, no foul as PJ was extremely polite and professional throughout our entire time dealing with him and I could not be any happier with the service. PJ is an avid rider himself and knows the roads around the area and is more than knowledgeable to give you suggestions to enhance your time renting the bikes! Routes, restaurants, you name it - ask away! Oh and a side bonus, he has a nice family of Great Danes who have loud voices but LOVE to play and be petted! Fear not using this company to rent your bikes. I was blown away by the exceptional service and really, it felt like I was just borrowing a bike from my own uncle. I cannot rave enough on how happy I was with everything and I WILL be back to rent from him again on a return trip!

The business model of delivering a motorcycle for rent was hard to find but Rick nails it and the whole thing was a homerun. My bike came in perfect condition was well-maintained and had no problems throughout the three day rental. 5 star service!

Then I find this place in Robbinsville, NC. So I rent an electric bike. It was a very interesting experience for a week. The bike was quick, fun to ride and handled fantastically. I was given an app to find the charging stations, and learned quickly to plan ahead to find them and know where they are. Here's a tip,... Before you leave for your destination, screenshot the locations of the charging stations, because sometimes you will not have cell service and can't find them when you get there. Austin was extremely helpful and he even came to our cabin in Bryson city to pick up the motorcycle so I didn't have to bring it back to his shop. Now that's customer service 100%.

What do you know that a new shop opened up super close to the Tail of The Dragon in Robbinsville NC? I was super excited to see their literal fleet of electric bikes. I spent some time on the phone talking to them before making my rental choice. I settled on the Zero SR/S and made my reservation for an entire day vs the 2 hour minimum. If you book for three hours you get charged the daily rate anyway so why not keep it overnight? I picked the bike up as I wanted to look at the other electric bikes to see if I made the right choice but they do offer delivery for a small charge. Austin who is an owner/operator met me when I arrived, showed me all the bikes and answered my unending list of questions. This guy is super passionate about electric motorcycles and was a pleasure to deal with. Under Austin's advisement I left on the fully charged SR/S in rain mode until I got the hang of it. This thing is like a rocket on two wheels, it will really scoot fast and I've been on a lot of street bikes and this one has unmatched acceleration...it's just constant. It takes quite a while to get used to NOT needing to clutch and shifting gears, but once you get used to it you start to wonder why gas bikes haven't advanced with more automatic models available? It actually gave me a new appreciation for riding, especially when in nature--you don't have to think about gears or shifting, just a twist of the throttle. I felt like I had more brainpower to appreciate the beautiful area that I was riding through. My first destination was the Cherohala Skyway. After a few miles I switched to sport mode and put her through the paces. You better hold on to these bikes because they will throw you off with the pure adrenaline acceleration. But the craziest thing...at 40-50mph I could hear freaking birds chirping! This is a completely different type of riding...I've never heard nature before when riding because my exhausts have been so loud you hear nothing but your own bike. It's kind of strange but amazing at the same time, I really, really enjoyed it. In fact, these bikes are perfect for riding through the NC mountains. Austin gave me plenty of advice on charger locations as well as an app to find them, good roads to ride, places to stop and eat and charge. I was able to ride 3-4 hours between 1 hour charges so not bad at all. I put almost 300 miles on the bike in my day and honestly I had a hard time returning it. The best part was I was able to return it with low charge, I didn't have to fully charge it before returning it and all of the charging stops I went to were free!! I also did the Tail of the Dragon on this bike...if you are in the area and you don't want to keep it for the entire day I definitely recommend renting it for 2 hours and doing the Dragon out and back. You'll be zipping around those 318 curves like never before. I will definitely be renting again, I loved the Zero but I want to try the Energica Eva Ribelle next time as it is supposed to offer a completely different riding experience.

There was only one staff member getting the bikes ready and checking people in. We lost about an hour of riding time. I'm not convinced the bikes are checked well between rentals outside of gas and damage. We paid the extra fee to get the bikes we requested, which was fortunate because I was asked to consider a different bike and my husband got upgraded because they did not have the bike we requested. But there was a lot of negotiation going on with other people because the bike they requested was not available. Be sure to ask when the bike needs to be returned because we thought we had to be back at 5:00 pm, but were told we had to return them within 24 hours. Nonetheless, we returned them that evening. It's a tuff gig when people do not return a bike when they agreed to. My ask is that you do the right thing so the next renter has what they expected and paid for. While it wasn't the grandest experience, we would try renting again. Happy riding!
