When we first started going here, the service was impeccable. And the food was pretty darn tasty. And if you like spicy salsa, theirs definitely has a kick to it. The atmosphere is fun, and I will say it can be noisy. I will say, it feels like there was a change in staff or management recently. Didn't feel the food was as amazing as before, but it wasn't horrible. And, the service has definitely been lacking a bit lately. Of all the Mexican restaurant in town, this one rates in the middle for us. There's a couple others we would much rather go to. Don't let this review keep you from dropping in for a meal. So we only come up here once a year but this is the restaurant we come to!! Food is A+ for sure! Classic fajitas comes with grilled onion, tomato's and green peppers...with rice n beans. It's a generous portion! You could easily get 3 full tacos! My nachos was the small order and they were amazing. Perfect size for one person. I asked for sour cream on the side. First off. My server was amazing!!!! She was spot on. It's the food that's the issue. Last time I was here, it was really good and so this made me sad! Got cheese enchiladas off the lunch menu. The corn tortillas were an odd texture because they hadn't been warmed up properly and the cheese on the inside wasn't even melted. The plate was hot. But not the food. Ordered fajita street tacos, came out cold let our server know she took it back for it to be no different than when they first came out sent back again just for the same result. A weekend adventure in Lockhart,TX! We of course have BBQ lined up but wanted margaritas so hit the only Mexican food place we could confirm sold them. I got chicken fajitas and Shana got bean and chesse chulphas. Also queso and chips. The queso was sort of bland. Seemed canned or processed. Not awful but not great. The chicken was good, the tortillas were cooked to crispy which is not my favorite but that is a personal preference. Shana thought the chulphas were ok. For the price I was not impressed. The service was sadly the biggest issue. Our waitress seemed like we were bothering her. There was one other couple and one guy who came in later. They were fast but just not pleasant. Yelp gave me a 15% off coupon. No one there knew how to use it so no luck there. The drinks were good. I had a frozen mango margarita. Shana had a don Julio on the rocks. Fun place on the decor side. A must! We recently moved to Lockhart and we found this Mexican restaurant and we just fell in love with it. Since we been coming multiple times and everything every time has been amazing. We brought friends and family and they all love it as well. The staff is very nice and helpful their home made tortillas are delicious!!! I love the micheladas and my husband loves the margaritas. Paid a visit to this restaurant for the first time. I like to start off with describing the location. There is plenty of parking. As you make your way in to the establishment right away you could feel comfortable walking in. Place was divided up into three spacious sections with table and booths available. A cute little bar area was located towards the back of the restaurant with a small electronic jukebox with a few flat screen televisions. The waiter who tended to us was professional and friendly. The bar area seemed a fun place to enjoy a drink but we didn't drink anything there. We had some chips and salsa. The salsa was decent and the chips were a bit dull. We ordered some chalupas, a fajita taco, and a tortilla soup. The fajitas were tender chopped up a bit and had a good flavor. The flour tortilla was warm and ordinary. I ate some of the tortilla soup that had some pieces of chicken, carrots, squash, cheese, avocado, onion, served with a side of rice. The rice was bland nothing to fancy about it. The chalupas were crunchy and tasted like your usual chalupas. I'd say the atmosphere felt comfortable and filled with some Mexican decor with pictures and color. Checked myself in and was offered a 15% off from my purchase on this app for checking into this establishment but after management viewed it prior to paying we were told they could not honor it because it was only good for the Bastrop area (did not specify that in app). I went ahead and did the review either way regardless but do believe it should have been accepted there. I gave this food establishment a three being an average restaurant overall. Again, friendly staff, clean place, plenty of seating, and if you are a drinker, come check out the little bar area. It seemed like it would be a cool place to enjoy a beer. We were in Lockhart filling our bellies up with barbecue but we needed a break so we hit this place up. The queso was amazing, I don't like the queso that is just a sauce, i like the queso that is an actual piece of melted cheese and you can stretch it out! also this one had chorizo (also came with some flour tortillas). It was delicious but def super oily, so if youre watching your fat intake..maybe reconsider. the flautas were really good, lots and lots of chicken in there, well flavored and super crispy. I was a few beers in so i took a tortilla from the queso, put a flauta in it and then piled the queso on top: WOW!!!! the enchiladas had salsa verde, pretty standard, not too limey. the carnitas on the inside were not as crunchy as we expected since the menu said "deep fried" but it was very good pork. Guadalajara is one of the few places that was open during covid and with outdoor seating. The chicken used to taste frozen and had a weird flavor but after a few months it got better. We always love to get the mango margarita with chamoy and tajin, the chicken fajita nachos, and jalapeño margaritas. The fish tacos are also great! I would say the food has definitely improved over the past 8 months that we've been frequenting this place so I'll give it more stars for that alone. read more

Visited Guadalajara today 9/7/22 after doing a search on Mexican dining in Yelp. Had good reviews, so we checked it out when visiting Lockhart. I had the especial of the day which was Pollo Tequila. Lovely sized portion of chicken prepared with tequila, and covered in cheese and other delectable morsels. Add beans and rice with a small amount of salad, and came with a Tea, it was delicious! Wife had a lunch special called Falfurias. Basically tacos dressed up with fresh lettuce tomato and cheese. It was good. The sauce for the traditional chips was super, a little hot, but great. Service by Antonio, backed up by his fellow waitress, was very good. Meal cost came to only $19.47 plus nice tip. Suggest you all go for lunch when visiting Lockhart. See pictures read more

This is about shady business practices. Got my $35.xx tab, they ran my card and brought back a receipt that was higher than my tab. When I asked why they told me there is a 3% charge on credit card transactions. They told me it was posted on the front of the menu. I checked the menu on my out. There at the top of the menu on a tiny sticker in 8pt font, there is some vague information about a cost savings if you pay in cash. No mention if there is a charge or what it would be if I used a card. My server didn't say anything to me. No mention of an upcharge. I talked with the manager (possibly owner) about my grievance and he gave the line about the cost of doing business and how that's what the bank charges him, that everyone how eats there knows about this charge, etc etc. Apparently, not everyone. And, duh. I think we are all aware that it costs money to do business and that banks charge transaction fees. I've never had a restaurant charge a fee in this manner. It's deceptive and crappy the way they went about it. This was my first and last time there. I cannot with idiot business owners that try to nickel and dime you over a card transaction fee. The food was average Tex-Mex and service from the wait staff was standard. I've been living in Lockhart for a few months now and really enjoy Taqueria el Cantarito so I recommend them over Guadalajara. And her salsa is better too. Review will be cross posted. read more

Ran by and got some takeout just a bit ago...they are Open for dining...no sanitizing going on here... At all!!! Hands in the register, same hands giving menus, same hands getting takeout and handing it to me and other customers. For the person who inexplicably gave a 1 star review, all I can say is "give it another try". Don't give up the experience of the best Mexican food around just because of one bad service experience... every restaurant deserves a "bad-hair-day" mulligan on occasion! My wife and I live way out in Dripping Springs, but when proprietor Domingo Moreno of Drippin's popular "Domingo's Mexican Grill" relocated to Guadalajara in Lockhart early this year, we just had to follow him. What a surprise to find Domingo's always smiling face running the show in Lockhart, dishing out more of the best REAL Mexican food to be found anywhere in the Central Texas area. Many of our favorite items were on the menu, including my always fav. (and to-die-for) Carnitas, as well as their multiple preparations of Tilapia. Chips and Salsa are always home-made, and the margaritas (ask for the Domingo special) are unbeatable anywhere within and outside the Austin area. Best of all, prices are ridiculously reasonable. Just wish they were a little bit closer to us.. then we'd be weekly visitors! read more
