My bride and I went there for breakfast with my family (Robert, Mike Evans and Tony Carrion) before heading back to Las Vegas. We had a variety of breakfast taco's which were all excellent. The coffee was fresh and the environment was welcoming and friendly. We will definitely go back on our next trip to Luling TX. Stopped by here for breakfast /brunch on our way to the Mineral Springs. The food was super authentic and very tasty. The staff is super friendly and attentive. The place is tiny on the inside with only a few tables and it appears a little run down, but don't let looks fool you...stop in! They also have a drive through. read more

I'm shocked that they put so much fat in their birria - it's like they don't know how to make it? The salsa was mostly water, the beef steak was tough - must have been a bad cut of meat. The chicken (fajita?) tasted like air. The al pastor was really dry - no piña. The carne guisada was ok, but not much flavor in the gravy. Nothing is seasoned - so be forewarned. They also forgot our sides of guacamole and pico de gallo. We spent a lot of money for not much return. We only ate half of the tacos we got, just to taste, but have to doctor everything into new dishes to make it edible. Hope they get better at making food one day! There's not much in Luling, but I would suggest Lugo's if you are hungry until things change. read more

From the outside, I wondered if I should go in... it's a converted gasoline station. When I stepped through the door, though, I became at ease immediately, recognizing it to be a place where the locals eat. A single waitress, working her rear end off, provided good service. I tipped her appropriately. I had enchiladas and puffy tacos, and really enjoyed them. Beans, rice, and tortillas were very good, too. As others have stated, the food and service were both excellent! Well worth the short detour off of Hwy 10 and best tortillas I've had in a while - soft, warm, large, fresh and stood up well to over medium eggs, hash browns and bacon. Coffee was also great. read more

There's no way it could. This place is authentic as it comes. Hand made tortillas means hand made tortilla CHIPS! Order BOTH salsas! I had the El Pastor Puffy Taco with rice & beans. LIFE HACK: If you are unsure on a TexMex restaurant, eat their rice and beans first.. It's normally a good foreshadow! Anyway the rice and beans were absolutely delicious and my El Pastor couldn't of been better. Never Judge a book by its cover, from the outside it might not look like much, but let me tell you this is the best Mexican I have had in a very long time. In general, great Mexican food and BBQ are found in 'joints'. So when you read comments about this restaurant and first see it some may be taken aback by the building itself....don't be. This place serves awesome breakfast tacos, and at a good price. Service has always been friendly, and they have a drive-thru in the back of the building. Driving through Lulling and came across this little gem. They young lady taking my order was so sweet.

Granted this mexican restaurant is a very basic no frills building. Inside is not much better. Low and behold though...the food is outstanding! We ordered the Machacado plate which is shredded dry beef mixed into scrambled egg and mixed in diced onion and tomato. The plate also comes with refried beans and cubed grilled potatoes. You get your choice of homemade corn or flour tortillas. We also asked for and received a sauce that ensured a wonderful mix of flavor (green salsa). Oh my gosh...truly a wonderful all freshly made dish. The chips and hot sauce great too. Chips a bit on the harder side but wow...loved the sauce. I don't believe the chips were homemade but we still liked them. I ate the Barbacoa and two eggs over easy plate with diced potatoes and refried beans. The meat is authentic cow cheek and wonderfully flavored. Just outstanding!! All homemade. The corn and flour tortillas are made fresh and came out hot and soft. We were floored by quality and the price. Great value!! Our total with tax was $26 and change for two big meals. That included two teas as well. We left a great tip because the hostess and waitress were so friendly. Yes...1000 times yes...we ate coming back. Best little mexican restaurant in Luling, TX. This is the perfect example of why I need to have 3.5 stars. The food was definitely 4 stars but it's a tiny dirty hole in the wall. But....If you are looking for good authentic Mexican breakfast, this is the place. The Menudo was soooo good my husband ordered a second bowl. The bacon, bean and cheese tacos were absolutely sinful. First thing, we were hungry for a good breakfast and wanted somewhere we never been. Saw this place only because of the banner that said "Menudo" on it. At first glance the building was old and the dining area felt cramped. To my surprise everyone including my wife loved the food. There is stuff for people that don't really like Mexican and for those die hards. It feels really local. Half their business is like a walk up drive-thru place with patio seating. Thought I would put this place on the map because it cooks up tasty authentic flavors. It said now open and I hope it stays open.
