I absolutely loved my time in nature. GRRV is GREAT for an escape into the semi wild. The park manager is really sweet.

This is the best car camping view I've gotten in Texas, which is kind of disappointing, but I guess car campsites tend to be in not very pretty locations. Our campsite was right next to the river, which was convenient because we could put in and take out our boats right along the bank. The short walk from where you park to the campsite by the river was kind of treacherous as it was very steep, so carrying items up and down is a task. There was a trail leading away from the campsite and tons of branches and dead trees nearby for firewood. There weren't any outlets at the campsite, but there were some in the bathrooms, which were clean. There was wifi by the front office, although I didn't use it. The staff gave me off-putting vibes. read more

Found this really special spot on a drive one Sunday and fell in love with the land. Perfect place to test out a new camper I fixed up and get away from the city. The park manager I talked to on the phone was a genuine sweet and helpful lady who answered all my first timer questions (Thanks Shawna!). Been here for a week now and still in love. It's not too far from the main highway 281, 10 min from Walmart, winery right across the road. Clean laundry room, private RV bathrooms with shower, and convenient things for sale in the main office (food, toiletries, rv accessories, fishing supplies etc.). read more

This place is a dive. We arrived after a short but hard rain and when we got to our spots they were completely under water. We couldn't reach anyone on the emergency number. We finally found someone walking around who happened to work there. She was very nice but basically told us that we needed to find another park to stay at because she had nothing else. It was kind of a relief because honestly there was trash everywhere and really run down rv's that had obviously been there awhile. Thank goodness we were able to find a spot after calling 6 different parks in the area otherwise we would've had to have found a place to boondock. We were told we would receive a refund when the manager arrived the next morning. After reading the reviews I was concerned we might not get one so the fact that she refunded us is why I gave this park a 2 star instead of one. She did, charge us a $20 cancellation fee which I thought was wrong but I was just happy to get my other $400 back. Oh, also they double charged me for one of my spots that also had to be refunded. I don't recommend staying her at all. read more

I visited here with my family and had a good experience. The place was clean and wasn't too packed when I went so I was able to enjoy the campgrounds. The entrance to the river is nice and I can't wait till it warms up to use the canoes. There is a winery across the street if you find yourself looking for a drink at the end of the day. read more

The only reason they are getting two starts is because the river is actually quite nice and we enjoyed our time in the water. But be warned: They have fire rings you can't even use, and some of their staff is extremely rude. If your plan is to grill, this is not the place for you. This was our first time here, and unfortunately our last. At check in my husband informed the nice lady that was working that we usually go somewhere else to camp, but that we were excited to stay here because it was a lot nicer. And he even mentioned we always go to GRILL and enjoy some family time. She answered saying that this was the perfect place to do that at...let me also add that she did not mention any rules or anything about us not being able to use their fire rings. We also rented a canoe, and the nice gentleman that was working then, told us that he would drop it off by the river, and that they would help us pick it up after we were done using it since we don't own a truck. Fast forward to that night...,We finished using the canoe and called to let them know it was already where they dropped it off. A different guy was the one who answered the phone, and told us we had to walk It up and leave it outside the check-in office because it was already closed and it was late on a Saturday. My husband explained that they had told him he could leave it there cause we don't have a truck, and that we would literally have to carry it all the way up there. He rudely said they would pick it up and HUNG UP ON US. THEN we were using their fire ring to cook our food. Of course we had our own grill to put on top just as the website states. The guy that was picking up the canoe came up to us and told us "open fires" are illegal and we had to put out our fire. Our first language is not English and we were having a hard time understanding some of the words he was using, so my husband walked closer and asked him politely to repeat himself, to which he responded with a horrible attitude "NO OPEN FIRE, YOU CAN'T HAVE A FIRE. YOU DONT SPEAK ENGLISH OR WHAT?" My husband tried to explain that we had a grill to put on top and he just kept saying "sir sir sir you have to put the fire out" over and over again without letting us to explain ourselves. He left and we went ahead and threw some of our melted ice on top of the fire to try to put it out. Of course that wasn't enough to completely turn it off, but we managed to "control" the fire. We assumed that since it was completely inside of the fire ring, that we wouldn't have any more trouble. But of course, after 15 minutes the guy came back and got off of his car yelling at us to put the fire out. My husband was mad at that point and asked "well how are we supposed to eat? We brought everything to cook our food on the grill" to which he responded "I don't care, that is not my problem" we said we would just leave and get a refund since nobody had informed us that that was not allowed and that was specifically what we went for. He rudely informed us that there was no refunds and that if we didn't put that fire out we would have to leave anyways and that he was going to call the fire department to come extinguish the fire. He kept saying "I DON'T MAKE THE LAWS" We ended up extinguishing the fire and decided to leave anyways since we were starving. And honestly, our main problem is: DON'T HAVE FIRE RINGS IF WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO USE THEM! It's as simple as that. The people next to us also had everything to grill and had to pack up their food and drive somewhere to buy everyone food after witnessing what happened to us. read more

This place should be SHUT DOWN! Dangerous and Unsafe 'river access' walkpaths (most of them are sheer drop offs or washed out) none of the toilets worked, the overflowing porta-potties were caked with feces. RVs were surrounded by garbage garbage GARBAGE strewn all around. But that wasn't the worst. Loud drunks rolled in after midnight in huge trucks, raising hell. Impossible to sleep. We pulled up stakes and left, slept in the car off the highway. Called my bank and blocked any further charges to my card. read more

We had gone there in the past to see a meteor shower as I seemed to remember it was out of the way, but far away from the city lights that you can still see stars... So we decided to go for an overnight camping trip Last weekend. Check in - Easy, had already made a reservation no big deal. Made sure before hand that our site has electricity. Needed a 50' Extension cord to cross the road to our campground. Set-up - Easy, neighbors seemed chill and there was enough space between us and some picnic tables. The River - Some trash (not the rv park's fault) but otherwise a lovely place to be, with at least 2 water entrance locations. some concrete 'steps' near a recreation field, and a rock 'beach' closer to the bridge on spring branch rd. People were chill. The Evening - Somehow we got set-up between a group that blasted tejano so loud we could hear them 2 tent sites away very clearly and idled their truck for an hour or two to keep the radio going... and a similar group in the RV park that decided Bro Country and Nickelback Knockoffs were a great way to fill the night air... after the sun was down at about 9:30 I thought it would subside... then about 10:30 I called the manager who picked up and let me know quiet time on weekends wasn't til midnight... The Outcome: Finally, after 90 minutes of audio assault by the juxtaposed clueless groups, the manager got around to shutting the party down. Conclusion: If you want a camping experience, find a place with more respectful short/long-term residents. The bath house was nothing better/worse than most RV Parks, and the river entrance was fine. I'm never going to go back here, because there are simply more options, with more reasonable rules/enforcement sitting around, and I'm too old for people's lack of neighborly respect. Sorry ya'll, sleep and camping quiet are worth more to me than the convenience of this locale. read more

This used to be a nice rv park, but they've really gone down hill...we won't be back again. The long term campers have so much trash and junk around their campsites, the place looks like a homeless camp. And leash rules are not enforced...not one person has their dog on a leash, they just wander into other people's campsites. Doberman and 3 other dogs just roaming around. Maybe they will enforce it when they get sued when someone gets bit. Trashy. read more

I really enjoyed the tent campgrounds section as the spots were well spread out and with it being off season there was no one camping around me so me and the dogs felt like we had the place to ourselves. Each of the employees I spoke to on the phone or came across were all very kind, when I called to check if I could bring a second dog with me she looked at the spot I had reserved and told me of a better one and I'm so glad she did! Unless you are part of the "in" group not worth it. There are sticker burrs everywhere, the grass is not consistently kept up with, and the lower "sports field" is not in a condition to be used at all; I could not even walk my dog over there. I lived here for slightly over a year in their duplex. Any repairs were done half-assed (hot water was always a problem), wi-fi was unreliable at best, water pressure was too low for the hot water to work in the shower unless you ran the sink at the same time. The "Park Rules" didn't seem to apply to everyone who lived in the park. I missed picking up my dogs poop twice and got chewed out; but I saw another that had a small dog that crapped everywhere and it never changed. Management; always smoking and intoxicated, very brash and rude. I don't feel that this place is completely safe for children; when confronted with complaints of sex offenders living in the park, they did not seem concerned. When it comes to the mail delivery well, I did not feel confident that I was getting my mail timely, they did tell me that it would be delayed because the mail is delivered in the afternoon. Which was fine but at times it would be put in my box 2 days later. Overall I will not be going here ever again regardless of the reason, access to the river is limited to one "staircase" with no shallow area. The best river access is the other side of the river where it is free. And I know someone from the park will respond trying to make themselves look better, I have seen it on here. But, I know how it is and that is all that matters. read more

The star is for the river and not the campground and their "office manager". Questioned a charge on my card and was accused of trying to "steal services, which is a felony". According to this horrible woman who claims to be a professional! So rude! I have never been treated in such an unprofessional manner. Don't worry won't be back since I'm now "banned". Beware check your receipts and don't dare ask for an explanation, or you too will be BANNED! What a joke! Plenty of other places, honey...no need to spend my Money at a trashy campground with rude employees. Such a shame that this place occupies one of the prettiest places in the hill country. I checked into this RV park. At first when driving up, I thought it could not be an RV park as it appeared to be a junk yard! As I approached, there was trash, and junk scattered about and the grass wasn't being mowed regularly. But, to my dismay, there was a sign saying Guadalupe River RV Park by the washed out gravel driveway. There was no one in the office. After difficulty trying to find a hook up that was hidden by rocks, I went into the trailer for an hour or two. When I tried to take my two very small chihuahua puppies outside (one weighs 1 pound and the other one weighs 5 lbs) I was unable to exit the RV as numerous dogs were running through the camp site. When my wife tried to exit the RV about and hour later she was unable to do so as there was a loose dog directly under the RV's steps! The rules sent to me by email say " Each dog must be on tethered or electronic lease at all times and always under immediate control and must never be left unattended." This RV park was not enforcing their own rule and therefor causing an unsafe environment for people staying in their facilities. I went to the office in the morning and explained due to unsafe conditions we would not be able to stay at the park. I asked the receptionist for a refund of the other 6 unused nights I had already paid for. She said she wasn't sure how to process the refund and would get it done when her supervisor came to the office. I left the RV park that morning. Two weeks after that, there was still no credit on the credit card. When I called there was never anyone in to talk to about the credit. After about 7 more days of trying to contact someone I was told they were not going to process a credit. I would tell you to avoid this RV Park! Many years have passed sense the management has upkept the facilities. The restrooms were just filthy and unclean and toilets did not flush. I would give them a zero rating if I could. Do not book a reservation at this facility! As there are much cleaner and safer RV parks in the area. This facility is unsafe! As a finial note the RV site was not as described. It was supposed to be 90 feet long, I measured it to be 55. The site was not as described! This RV park is dangerous and unsafe it needs to be out of business! Unprofessionally run, falsely misleading and dangerous facility! read more

If you're looking for a relaxing getaway in the beautiful hill country, this place is it.

We camped for 3 nights at site T17. The site was small and had little parking space for 2 cars. We were a party of 4 and it was hard to find a good spacing for our tents and tables. The site was at an incline as most were and trees we few by campsite. The campsite was clean, restrooms were neat, showers semi-clean but 1 had bad lighting and a clogged drain, finding a water spout was a bit hard, we had to travel down the road almost to the office area since the one by the site was broken. The river was a convenient walk down, be careful with snakes and raccoons! Fishing was decent. Biggest reason for my review is the staff, they were welcoming but not helpful, one day we popped our tube and they said they had closed and couldn't rent us a tube, there was a bus full of them outside and there was people still checking into the camp. When we blew up our first tube the guy filling it kept complaining that it was a lot of air. I don't think I will be going back here by choice... read more

Found this really nice Campground/RV park while cruising the winding roads of the beautiful Texas Hill Country. It's situated on a diverse stretch of the river that contains both shallow runs and deep pools that I found added even more exploration to the beautiful Guadalupe. A friend and I stayed at the very last campsite where we found breathtaking moments together and a plethora of wildlife sights and sounds. We were lucky enough to be greeted by Axis deer and Whitetails in the distance and found peace at this quaint spot. The staff was very helpful, answering calls passed normal hours and river traffic was low. I highly recommend this park for your next "down the road" get away/reset. We will definitely be coming back. Also I think it's necessary to give a special thanks to the front desk girl Julie, who was very sweet, nice and accommodating. Her happy persona definitely added positivity to the trip that continued to brighten our day. Thank you Julie! read more

Trash stinks into RV and wind or weekend loud parties leave trash on ground. Barrels upset and trash sometimes isn't cleaned up for days. Some people are allowed to do stuff an others are not. WiFi is terrible and awful potholes on dirt road which allows major dusting. Junky campers that don't follow rules for outside appearance but others get notices. Unclean washers. read more
