My driveway was in need of some TLC after years of brutal IL summers and winters. What's more, the curb going up the driveway has always been brutal. If you weren't awake to start the day via coffee, hitting your head against the top of the car when driving over the curb would definitely do the trick. I reached out to Guardian to ask about getting rid of the curb and options for the driveway itself. They responded right away and provided two estimates: one for just a seal coat, and one to tear up the old driveway, clip the curb going up the driveway, and pour fresh asphalt for the driveway. The prices for both options were reasonable and on par with competitors. After reading so many other positive reviews on Yelp about Guardian, I decided to go with them. I opted to make the larger investment of clipping the curb and replacing the driveway. The whole thing was said and done in 3 days and I couldn't be more delighted by the results. The driveway is gorgeous and smooth. And now entering and exiting the driveway is seamless! I've posted a few after photos for reference. I reached out to Guardian to get their opinion on what would be best for my driveway, after providing me with multiple options and answering all my questions, my husband and I decided to go with sealcoating and a cold patch in an area that was missing asphalt. 2 birds, 1 stone, Excellent Customer Service. Let me Explain... I had a driveway that was as dry as the Sahara, no sealant had been applied since the dawn of man. Problem #2 - I had a drain pipe causing a large half foot speed bump that had risen over time from poor placement and improper drainage that the previous owner never remedied. I needed a complete service company who did more than just seal, they had to work with the town, the grade, the asphalt, laying a new pipe and re building the culvert to my and the town's specifications. It took quite a few calls but then I discovered Guardian. The company owner replied to my email, we talked about the issues, and she came out, gave an estimate, gave me an exact idea of what the town would need, said she would work with the town to shoot the gradient, draw up the needed plans to secure the permit, and make multiple trips to my house to get all this done before I agreed to the final quote. Her team worked hard and i had not even hired them yet! The fun really began the days before the job started - very early cold and wet stormy conditions threatened to kill the whole job, but she waited it out and came back to start and finish the job before the winter set in again. The ground was not cooperative and the laying of the new layers of asphalt looked great & level, and the culvert pipe was laid deeper, and the whole area was re-graded with new stone to help water drainage. She also came back a week later and worked for half a day to level the dirt, &lay new seed and hay to restore the area on both sides of the driveway to a grassy clean finish. A few weeks after finishing everything still looked good, however it started changing shape- over the second 2 weeks. She quickly agreed to come back and review. After her return a few weeks later when the areas were enough to see clearly, she said it must have been too wet and cold to rush the job in before the winter, a decision we made jointly so part of the blame was also on me- (we delayed the sealing job for spring). Over the winter 2 surface areas became depressed slightly and water was pooling at the bottom of the drive. She immediately agreed it was not a satisfactory effort and offered to make it right at no cost, and also to not change her quote for the sealing thru the whole next summer if I would hire her for that service as well. She stayed in touch with me all winter checking in periodically, and driving by a few times to see how it was changing. She answered every call and email I sent, never not returning a call even as it was a less than perfect outcome and stood by her pledge to make it right. Today you can see from the photos i have both a very well lower section of new level and cured perfectly asphalt and a great sealing job. Finding a contractor who will take a job, prepare a quote, and return a call is hard enough at times... finding one who stands by her work, fixes errors at her cost, returns your calls and emails months after getting paid, standing by the work and the pledge to remedy as soon as the weather permitted, and returning to do excellent work in a single day and all the while staying professional, polite and apologetic for the inconvenience- - that is unheard of. Moved into a new house. The resurfacing had been neglected. The guardian had good reviews and an easy estimate process. They had the absolute best price, unbelievable in fact. So I went with them. It was a professional, great job. They cleaned away all the old crumbled top, cleaned and removed the grass from the drive and trimmed back the grass from the edges, then laid the resurfacing. Every time I need this done, they are who I'm calling. If you are in a rush, they might not be for you. But I tell you, you cannot buy the stuff to do the work cheaper yourself. They use a great product but are very sloppy even when guiding them. Asked to bring an edger brush (6-8 inch wide brush) to cut out bad angels on driveway. Told me he doesn't have one or need one. I said, "Are you sure because you just got it all over". Left globs of sealer I had to have them fixed.
