I needed a very small siding repair. I was NOT interested in a two step process with an estimate from a salseperson followed by a visit from the actual workers. I made that very clear to the scheduler. The scheduler confirmed that that could be done. I subsequently received an email confirming the appointment. I replied, repeating my insistence that I simply wanted the repair made in a single visit without a separate visit from an estimator. Sure enough, an estimator arrived 20 minutes late without any equipment. He was downright rude when I complained, saying "no one does business that way." I told him that Guardian was put on notice at least twice that I was not interested in a two step process. I would not have bothered taking time off from work had they simply told me they required a two step process. At my request, the manager called me, and I explained the situation. She was pleasant on the phone and said that she would she she could find someone in the organization to address the issue. I forwarded the earlier email for her records. She promptly acknowledged receipt. That was all two weeks ago. I never heard from her again. She did not respond to three follow-up emails of increasing urgency. The repair still have not been made, and I am back to square one. I DID receive a robotext asking me to rate my experience. (eyeroll). Stay away from these people. They are arrogant and beyond worthless unless you have a major project, and even then you have to worry about how they respond to a problem. Dear Guardian: am sorry I am not worth your precious time. Have had a LOT of communication with Guardian over the past few years. They did a sealant on our roof, but due to the age of the roof that plan did not hold up - they did explain to us that we really should have a new roof, which we agreed with and they subsequently gave us a credit off of the original quote. Workers were very diligent and hard-working. The project managers had to deal with extra problems that were uncovered when the old roof was taken off - many layers and uneven spots, for which we did pay extra. Our problem is with the follow up. While our manager/site boss - not exactly sure what his title is -was communicative during the process and did come back to follow up with some debris that was left in the gutter, etc. we told him that our large front bush got damaged. He assured us that they have a company that they work with, and that he would have them get in touch with us. That was three months ago, and I have sent him five texts, none of which were answered. While the roof itself seems fine, the lack of follow-up communication does not bode well for potential future problems. read more

It took much communication and I did received some understanding from the Guardian team, but my project is finally finished. I still feel like communication needs work. Many a time i would be left waiting for a call back on a question/answer. So i am not sure if their project coordinator(s) are over worked or if i just got a new one. Can also attribute some delays to me being a new home owner and being outright trusting. This will be a learning experience for contractor hires going forwards. A good example is a should've talked to Mike directly at least a month into this project. He seems to be very understanding from what i talked to him. read more

Roofing crew was great. Sliding crew sprayed wasp killer all over new roof staining it for months poisoning my rain barrels. Complained, but new shingles still damaged, had to manually scrub down roof, also never caulked a window i asked proj manager to fix . And to top it off, they never paid for permits until i get a notification from the city saying they will fine me, guardian did fix this, but still a bad experience. UPDATE: not here to cast judgement on whether the lies and misinformation are coming directly from "Matt S." or if members of his team are sending him misinformation, but most of his claims in his response are utterly false. Especially curious his account of my visit... ------------------------------ Dealing with this company has been an absolute nightmare. Started with the Sales experience. Brought the company out for a quote in early February as they sold themselves as a reputable company. We asked a lot of questions regarding their process, timeline, supply chain issues, etc... Was then baited into signing a contract as the salesperson told us if we went with Window Brand X, the job would be completed in 6-8 weeks, and had "emails from his supervisor" promising so. Asked to see the windows, he did not have any materials on the brand, but said we could find it on the Home Depot website if we googled it, but not to expect to get that price. The intentional false representation by the salesperson brings us into the situation we are dealing with today. The salesperson came back in about a week (days after my federal right to cancel) with the another member of the install team for further measurements, when we talked to this member, he laughed at what we were told about the timeline and said we would be lucky to get them this year, while the salesperson started talking about these emails from the supervisor until the member of the install team berated him and put an end to that. Tried to call my "customer care representative" to try to figure out what to really expect moving forward, who said she didn't know anything but would try to find out. Received a rude voicemail days later from the same worker that was at my home saying he thought he made the situation clear. Continued to receive voicemails from my "customer care representative" saying she knew nothing, I would try to call back within 5 minutes. Would be told she "was out to lunch" after just calling me 5 minutes previously, and left a few messages for a callback over the next few weeks that were never returned. Calls from my representative ceased following this after being told they would be in touch with bi-weekly updates. Started calling around to other people that may be involved in the job, finally got in contact with someone that would actually return communication. Was provided with a brochure for these windows finally. Spent the next number of months with no follow up, no promised updates, which was the standard throughout the process. Came time to put an end to this process, reached out to the one person at the company that would generally respond now and then. Decided to amicably put this to an end. Was told the paperwork for the dissolution of the contract was being drafted. Again, heard nothing for a few weeks. Reached out again, was told it would be coming certified mail. Couple more weeks go by, reached out for an update to no response. Couple more weeks go by, ask for a tracking number or an update. No response. So finally decide to visit their office to put an end to what has been an awful experience. Get told they have a new directive (not sure at what point they planned on communicating this to me), and are going to "drop the windows off in my driveway", and won't be refunding my deposit. Explained to them this is not a satisfactory resolution and how no contract truly exists due to the false pretenses and fraudulent misrepresentation tactics employed from their salesperson (who by their own admittance was "uneducated" and that wasn't their problem). Told me due to their directives they can't do anything else, asked to talk to the person that was in charge of this directive. Was told he was "busy". I said no problem I can wait. Then she told me he isn't going to talk to me period and said if I had any problem with that they would call to have me "forcibly removed" from the property. absolutely horrible experience! In short, we have spent $50,000 to have our home painted and some cedar siding repair done. Hired Guardian in February 2022. The work was not complete until September 2022. By December, Pain't was chipping all over the house. So much for the 15 year guarantee! It has quite literally been hell trying to get Guardian back out to address this. The end result as of right now, October 2023 is that our home still isn't painted, paint chips are everywhere, the crew that came out to prep our house for repaint two months ago have left downspouts off, doors and windows taped off. We had a nagging roof leak in our Familyroom which was supposedly fixed by other roofers. Yes, I said roofers. It was not, however, which was evident when we opened up the drywall. Over the past 3-4 years, no roofer was able to find the source. We were planning to go on our first cruise since the Covid shutdown with a committed late August 2022 departure. Our first contact with Guardian was Patrick Fay a Certified Home Advisor in sales who came out July 22, 2022 to assess our situation. After giving our cedar shake roof a thorough inspection, he confidently assured us of our roof's integrity and said he had found the source of our leak. We heard that before from other companies including the need to replace the entire roof, so I was very skeptical. I then turned to the reviews on Guardian. There were lots of glowing 5* Star reviews. I told Patrick that we could not get a house sitter to take care of our two cats while we were on the cruise unless the roof leak was fixed. At the time we needed pots to catch the water during a hard rain which was also attacking a built in floor to ceiling bookcase. Patrick said with all their work backlog and material supply shortages, getting the roof repaired prior to our cruise would be difficult, but he would try. The contract was then signed with a conditional pending stipulation to have all work completed before August 25th, less that 4 weeks away. Patrick came out and layed a tarp to stop the leak which had to be redone after a wind storm proved to much for the first try. "No Problem I will redo it" he said, which he did without complaining the next day. Next Teresa (Customer Agent) and Patti (Accounting) called me repeatedly to keep me advised of the status of the project and to work out the financial details. Thank you ladies for keeping in such close contact. They told me that the work would commence one week prior to August 25th. As promised by them on August 17th, the work was started by Tommy and Josh. They were both engagingly communicative, keeping me advised all through the process including taking before and after photos of the job. I was impressed by their professionalism and customer oriented nature, including the nightly clean up which was thorough. They completed the job in 3 days which included having to replace some additional plywood sheathing they unexpectedly found after removing the old shake. As weather would have it, the very next day, the repair got it ultimate test a 2in/hr downpour. There was standing water in our backyard and on our patio and deck. The roof, however, had absolutely no leaking. As we had planned and committed to our cruise to Alaska was "Good to Go". I would give the Guardian Team and Company 10* Stars if I could. We were excited to have a few improvements done and the sales group was quick and helpful. But then after that the quotes were high with significant sales pressure... but we wanted the job done quickly and thought they'd do a good job. Took 8 months after the 50% down payment with hounding and more hounding. We did cut back the project and they were accommodating with a revised contract but only with many contacts and follow ups. The crew that finally did the work was friendly and seems competent (and deserves their bonuses), but overall it felt like the work ended up incredibly expensive for less than 1 and a half days of work on site with relatively little materials needed. We repeatedly asked for cost breakdowns and we're ignored. We think no other competitive service would have charged this rate, been this slow, or non responsive. read more

First of all, the person who came into my home to "measure" our windows and give us a quote was indeed a SALESPERSON. This fellow first and foremost did not even know how to use a tape measure, the company LITERALLY had to send a second person out to RE measure my windows because the SALESPERSON couldn't. Now, was this on purpose to VOID our contract time or does this company truly send SALESPEOPLE out on their behalf who can not read basic measurements. I wish I was exaggerating on this, but the SALESPERSON also could NOT read the total number of our quote. He could not SAY the number. We had to HELP him. We should have stopped there. Being a mother with a newborn and two young girls during a pandemic, I was none the less happy when I was told these SALESPEOPLE would have to come through my entire house AGAIN to re measure!!! I think anyone can understand that. Again, was it all fake to void the contract or are they truly incompetent people who need to review second grade math, I am unsure. On the second attempt to "re measure" our windows, which now took two men to read a tape measure, they were incredibly RUDE to me in MY home. Snappy, pissy, angry when we asked the estimated install date. And please, we are NOT living under a rock here. We deeply understand what is going on in the world and knew we would have to wait. But it was the initial LIES and then dragging us along WAY longer than the 8 weeks max they claimed. Let's jump to present time. A couple weeks ago we said enough is enough and we would drive to their location on site to talk to the company and hopefully come up with a resolution. My husband spoke with one of their office staff thee entire time and the supervisors, managers and owner (who were ALL there) REFUSED to come and SPEAK with my husband and said they would call the police if we did not leave! My husband spoke the truth, NEVER threatened anyone as "Matt S. OWNER" LIED about AGAIN in his response to my husbands review. My husband was speaking to a woman office staff member and spoke nothing but truth on the matter to her the entire time. All we wanted to accomplish was an AGREEMENT with what was going on, vs. VERY late and pushed off emails and phone calls from THEIR behalf. Guardian is a company that advertises itself being a better construction experience with 100 customer satisfaction. In my experience, this means lies from their salesman and underwhelming results, with customer satisfaction taking a back seat to the company's bottom-line. Andrew their salesman lied through his teeth to get the sale. Once the down payment was made, he disappeared, refusing to answer basic questions. Their office staff couldn't get me a estimated start date within a month of when they actually did start, giving contradictory dates 3 times in a single day. I spent more time managing the project then their PM Kevin. I had to insist over a half-dozen times that the product was being installed incorrectly only to be ignored. Escalations to Joe the manager were fruitless, showing a true lack of customer focus and only offering solutions that wouldn't hurt their bottom line. After supplying their subcontractors with the wrong sized nails, they blamed their contractors for installing the product incorrectly. In the end most of the siding had to come off and go back up. I'm certain much of it is still wrong but the constant lies and lack of throughput over the 5 weeks it took them to complete a simple siding project was nothing short of overwhelming. I'm still picking up nails and cigarette butts, and trying to save my trampled perennials and regrow multiple swaths of grass they killed read more

Stay Away! Instead of telling me outright that they were not interested in my project, they strung me along for 3 weeks promising to send a quote they were supposedly working on. When I finally called their front desk to complain, my agent finally called. The threw out numbers over the phone, which didn't make any sense so I asked him to text or email me the quote so I could review the details. We set up a time (convenient for him on his schedule) to discuss the quote. He never sent the quote details and never called me for our appointment. If they didn't want to do my project, they should have said so instead of lying about it and being dishonest. read more

EDIT: I received a phone call from the company responding to this Yelp review and I described what happened with Guardian. I got a lot of pushback from the representative today saying that is not how Guardian does things. I said I know what happened to me and the representative continued to hound me; I had to ask for Guardian to stop calling me and I hung up. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I did not have Guardian work on my house. This review is based on our experience trying to obtain a quote. Guardian obtained our contact information from Home and immediately started calling us incessantly. Eventually We scheduled a time for them to come out to look at our roof. The day before Guardian was supposed to come out to look at our roof to give us a quote, instead a representative called us the day before and told us an quote that was $7k-$10k higher than any other quote roofer who had come out to see our house. The representative from Guardian made this quote without seeing our house or even finding our house on google maps. The representative proceeded to insult us for expecting the work to be done for the amount that other, well-respected roofers, had quoted us at. The representative then proceeded to try to upsell us on things that were included in the (much lower) quotes we received from other roofers. We canceled Guardian coming out for the official quote, because of the high pressure sales tactics, condescension, and ridiculous quotes (when the representative had not seen our house and couldn't find out house on google!). We aren't complete naïfs and the surest way to lose our business is to be treated as such. read more

Zero Stars. Not One Star. This company should be avoided at all costs. Initially contacted for a 6 K roof repair (not replacement) with a 2 K down payment and an understanding that the LEAK I had would be fixed in 2 weeks. Had to call them after 2 weeks and remind them that the contract said they would patch the leak in X amount of time. I built a time limit into the contract for all work to be completed by April 16th. Upon patching the leak on my flat roof in the winter the contractor sold me on the idea of doing the whole roof in TPO...costing me 3300K MORE down payment. When considering that TPO would not withstand shoveling, and is very slippery..resulting in falling 3 stories to sudden death, no one responded to me at the company that this was not the solution for me. They then failed to perform said work by April 16th... nullifying the contract. After I notified them them, suddenly they were anxious to get started...contract over. I had a local contractor give me a quote on the patch.$500.00 .. I offered Guardian $800.00 as it was winter and a harder patch job. Remember they failed to contact me with concerns and failed to try to complete the job per the contract. Now no reply after I send a demand for my deposits back. Then a reply that my money per my request less $800 was submitted to my credit card. I have it in writing. But did I get my refund.?? Of course not. Now , the sales contractor is begging me to work it out with no offers from him of doing what I need. Please just refund me. Then he played me on text...(love having this written record of lies for the court) all day today. Bottom line he is charging me 3K ( half of the original 6K front repair job, which was a lot larger job) for a 3 foot by 4 foot patch. This will go to court. Prior to this insane money grab, I told him that I would give them a good review if they just gave me 4500.00 of the 5300.00 I paid..and call it a day. But no, these people are as bad as they come. AVOID THESE CROOKS. And avoid their crappy lying online ads!!! Contractors everywhere, as a rule, are lying thieves, but these guys are aiming for top dog of the worst of the worst. read more

We contracted with Guardian Exteriors for a complete re-do including all siding, trim, replacement of 2 large patio doors, and replacement storms. We couldn't be happier with the finished job. Additionally, Guardian has really upgraded their "back-office" support. The communications are now top notch with Guardian calling us pro-actively about the project schedule. They worked very closely with us on the closing "punch-list" of outstanding detail items and completed every one of them. My biggest compliment is how they "went to bat" for us concerning some supplier quality problems. The answer to your question? Yes, I would hire them again! read more

I do not recommend Guardian at all. I needed roof repairs due to three leaks for an insurance claim plus some siding repairs. Signed with them in April as I was told they could complete the work in 4-6 weeks which was quicker than other contractors at the time. Due to lack of contact as promised during the following months and severely exceeding the 6 weeks agreed on, I ended up hiring a different contractor to replace the roof as I continued to have water coming in and needed to protect my home from further damage. My siding is still not repaired. I've tried to revise the quote with them, but they set up appointments and don't show or they call and reschedule just to not show. The revised quotes I've received have been a smaller scope of the project and now a larger cost and the quotes were given without even looking at the house again which prompted me to ask for an itemization. They have refused to give an itemization and now are not responding to complaint letters sent as well as a response to a filing with the BBB. I am very disappointed with this business relationship and will not recommend Guardian to anyone else. read more

I contacted this company for a quote and told them exactly what the job was... again, exactly what the job was (replacement of 7-8 windows). The contractor they sent out gave my husband his business card and left saying he really didn't want the job. Why would they send someone out that didn't want the business??? Really frustrating! They have a good business design, but in practice it would have been helpful for them to send someone out that actually wanted to do a job (scale, scope, etc.) like the one we needed done. Instead, we called Home Sealed...they are putting in the windows next month. :) read more

Never again. I had to hire another company at my cost to repair the shoddy workmanship (siding falling off the house) after I talked to Joe and he told me it would be fixed. I blocked the number and they called from another number and send texts. I certainly would not work with a company who uses tactics like this. read more

I was told my project should be able to get done in 10-12 weeks and we are now set to have it finally complete next week at the 16 week mark. There has been 0 communication without me calling to get the status of my project. 10 weeks after i signed the contract i got a call from the office asking if i needed any help with replacing my windows in which i said i already have a order placed. she then proceeded to ask how is it going in which i said "its not in yet" and her reply is yeah you will get a call in a couple days to set up the install. She clearly didn't have a clue what was going on. After i was told the window was in and i should receive a call in a couple days i waited a full week without receiving a call in which i called guardian again and later that day i finally got call to set up my install or i thought. The installer said he had to come out and do measurements and order the materials and we can get it installed in 3-5 weeks. This is not 11 weeks after i signed the contract mind you. After saying that is unacceptable the window i was told is ordered and in he called the owner and called me back 15 min later stating in fact that the window is in and we can set up an installation. We set up the install for 9/16 and the delivery for the window as well. I got a call on 9/16 stating that there is storms in the forecast and we need to reschedule. I told him i have an over hang and rain doesn't matter. He then said he has the ultimate call and he don't want to start it and not be able to finish due to rain. We reschedule for Tuesday 9/20 but the delivery truck still came on Friday. The supply company only has 1 person in the truck so now i have to help unload my huge bay window and materials that i am paying for a company to do. Tuesday comes and they get all of the work done......mostly. I paid for my wall to be insulated, dry walled, muddied, and primed ready for paint. At the end of the day they left a sanding block and said the mud is still damp so just feather out the sides before you paint it. I paid for it to be ready for paint WITH primer and they left me bare drywall and mud i have to feather out? i called Joe the salesman and he talked to the installer which said it was still damp so he couldn't finish sanding it didn't even mention the primer they are suppose to put on so i can paint it. Joe is coming out Wed 9/28 to finish up the work his self. 16 weeks later this project will finally be done 4 weeks after the 10-12 weeks i was told. The payment structure was suppose to be 50% down at contract sign 25% at start of work and 25% and finish. The 50% was processed at contract signing and instead of doing 25% and 25% the remaining balance got processed on 9/15 even though the work was rescheduled for 9/20 and technically wont be fully complete until 9/28. Joe has been great through the process, the installers did a good job on what they did even though they didn't complete what i fully paid for. There is was no communication to me without me initiating first, the payments weren't processed how they were suppose to be, and no one at the company knows about anything going on it seems. I think it is safe to say for future work on my house i will be looking else where. read more

But, that's because when I spoke with them regarding my window situation, Sonny kindly explained to me that I simply needed a glass panel replaced, not the entire window-- making it much less costly for me. I respect a company that helps you find the best solution to your problem, even if it means that it's not with them. I think it showed integrity and honesty on their part, and I wouldn't hesitate to seek them out on any future projects I have where I can actually utilize them :) read more

They replaced 5 windows in a fieldstone basement of an old farmhouse which required some special adaptations for the complete frame tearout. They also replaced an old aluminum frame garden window on our first floor with a new vinyl garden window and repaired the vinyl siding around it. I was very satisfied with their workmanship and overall ease of working with my contacts with all the company employees. read more
