We truly enjoyed our stop for carry out at Guatemex. We ordered the combination sampler platter with barbacoa. There was a taco, empanada, fluata, mini burrito, enchilada and quesadilla. We had fun sharing. The barbacoa had a nice cinnamon flavor. The chicken wings (mango habanero flavor) were scrumptious! We also tried the Oaxacan (sp?) enchiladas (you get one of each filled cheese, chicken and chorizo fillings), and chicken flautas. The chicken had a lime flavor, but they were our least favorite and the least flavorful item we tried. They have a little salsa bar so you can choose what you like. It was nice and clean. This is a small little place in Indiantown. The service is great, everybody is super friendly and they're quick about getting the food out to you. There's not too many tables; but, I always order for take-out anyway, so it's not an issue for me. The food however is as authentic as you can get for being here in Florida. Guatemex has such a good steak burrito!! Every time me and my family stop by our farm we eat there, they are affordable and the servings are big enough for two people to share. If you're looking for comforting authentic Mexican food, then you've come to the right place. Not only were the patrons all Mexican, but so was the staff. They have a great salsa bar that packs a REAL punch -- if you're a brave soul that wants to pack on the heat, get the red salsa, and also serve yourself some of the pickled red onions with Habanero pepper slices. There is also the mild green tomatillo sauce and pico de gallo. Complimentary warm, homemade chips are brought to the table -- with another salsa that is much milder than the one at the salsa bar -- while you wait for your meal. The menu is quite assorted, which makes it hard to make a selection, but the portions are nice and filling. There is a seafood portion on the back of the menu that contains ceviche, beckoning on the restaurant's Guatemalan roots (hence the Guatemex name). Although the exterior's unimpressive and the interior is quite spartan, don't let that fool you. The food is quite elaborate and well-presented. Service is also friendly and attentive. After much deliberation, I ordered the Chile en Nogada, while my friend got the Enchiladas Oaxaquenas. We had decided we would split our meals and share them, but I guess he changed his mind once he took a bite. He let me try a couple of bites of one of the enchiladas (they had different meat fillings and the one he gave me had sausage), and it was tasty. His meal was huge. My dish consisted of one stuffed pepper, so it wasn't as hefty as his, but the pepper was stuffed with a large portion of ground meat, and topped with creamy goodness. The beans had a homemade flavor to them and were rich and thick. I would definitely return next time I'm in Okeechobee. This is probably one of the best restaurants in this somewhat sparse town, and especially if you enjoy ethnic cuisine! read more

Took a different route home through State Rd 710 and started to get hungry when we got to Indiantown. We didn't want the usual chain places and were wary of the measly 10 reviews this place got. If you drive too fast you'll miss this gem! Right next to a Burger King, the outside is unassuming and uninviting but you should definitely stop by this place! The inside is small with 2 tv's playing latin music videos. There's a sauce table with salsa and red and green sauces which I was kind of reluctant to try but they were fresh and very tasty! We ordered a large Caldo De Rez (Beef Stew w/warm fresh totillas), Steak Chimichanga (w/yellow rice and black beans), Shrimp Tacos and Churrasco (w/yellow rice and black beans and small side salad) . Everything was DELICIOUS!!!! The only complaint was the churrasco was kind of small. Prices are good, food came out fast and our order came with chips and a red sauce that was tasty. Please do yourself a favor if you are passing through this quaint little town and don't go to Burger King! Had a great dinner here with a group of 10 friends this past Tuesday. We were in Indiantown for the night on a week-long Jetski trip across Florida and up to Sarasota. Having had seafood the past few nights, we were eager for a change and decided to go Mexican. Great choice! My wife and I were just passing by Indiantown looking for a place to eat. Guatemex came up as a good option to get decent food. We were wrong! The food was not decent, it was AMAZING!!! From the chips to the fajitas to the chile relleno, everything was perfect. With the incredible flavor that you can only find on authentic homemade food. If you are usually getting your taste of Mexican food from Chili's you don't know what you're missing. What a gem! After looking for a nice spot for dinner in this small town, I found my favorite. Stopped in on a Friday night around 9:30. They welcomed the 4 of us in without hesitation, even though they closed in a half hour. The place was quite busy. Service was extremely friendly. I ordered the Al Pastor burrito and was blown away. Delicious! My friends had steak quesadillas and tacos, which they said where amazing. We also had 2 buckets of beer and our total bill for the 4 of us was about $70. Great find!!
