My sister and I visited this beachfront restaurant on April 30,2025. It is located on Route 115 in Aguada, Puerto Rico, which is the west side of the island. And when driving there be careful because you can easily miss the entrance. Great restaurant if you like sunsets, the beach so close you can actually dive into the ocean if you want! lol. All kidding aside, this restaurant is right on the beach, beautiful sunsets and the staff and the food are great. My sister and I shared a meat Paella, and it was to die for. Good enough for 3-4 people to share. Price is like $39.99, and it does say shareable plates. It is a tropical paella, loaded with tostones, platanos maduros, rice and ribs on top and was so good. We could not finish even 1/2 of it. We brought it back to my sisters house and 3 additional people ate the rest. My niece, who is from Florida and travels and eats everywhere, like myself, said this was the best paella she had ever had. As for me, I agree with my niece. This paella was the best I have ever had. I have eaten here multiple times before, and every time I visit my beautiful island of Puerto Rico, I have to stop at this place to eat, have my Pina coladas, watch the sunset, listen to the sound of the waves and people watching. It really is fantastic. I highly recommend it. Price: pretty reasonable for a beachfront restaurant with a laid-back feel. As with any place there is room for improvement. For this place is dogs. I saw a dog roaming around on the outside, beachfront section of the restaurant, where we were eating. It didn't seem to bother others, but we did not like it. I wish they would control this in the future. There is also an indoor section if you prefer to sit inside. Eating outside near the waterfront, you will be bound to wind and on some occasions, flies. We hadn't been to Guayabo's for a few years and I'm happy to say it was just as good if not better than the last time. The drinks are great and the food is wonderful too. We decided on Guayabo's for our last dinner in Aguada after reading all the good reviews and it's proximity to our Airbnb. We were seated on the patio outside, which offers great views of the ocean as well as a nice breeze after walking around in the sun all day. Our table ordered several mojitos, all of which were very tasty and strong. We started with the carne frita and masitas de Mero. The pork was well-seasoned, had a nice, slightly crunchy outside, while not being over done in the middle. Grouper bites were perfectly flaky in the middle. I ordered the whole red snapper, which was also fried to perfection. Only minor issue was wanting a little more garlic on my garlic seasoning. I would recommend this place for anyone staying in Aguada. Prices can be on the higher end but are fair all things considered. The food was pretty good. The arroz y habichuelas didn't have much flavor. The carne frita and trifongo con pollo was really good. Try the garlic sauce! We had a vegetarian in the group and she was able to order a bunch of sides to make a whole meal. It would have been nice to have a vegetarian option. The mojito de parcha was pretty good, it was sweet. The piña coladas were okay. They were mostly whipped cream and not much alcohol. Food was delicious and such unique flavors! Never had flavors like I had at this restaurant! I had a fish fillet (can't remember which one) with a coconut salsa that was AMAZING! As a side I had trifongo (green plantains, ripe plantains, and yucca) and it was also great!! Husband had mofongo with caldo de pollo (chicken broth) and fried meat. Unfortunately ate here looking for a place with views for dinner. We were here for over 2 hours waiting on just 2 dishes after finding out they didn't have almost half their menu and didn't tell us. We had a shrimp and fish empanada even so we ordered the churrasco, but they didn't have it so they substituted it with fish without informing us. We tried to order a few other items on the menu later finding out they did not have anything (wings, carnitas, pork chop, churrasco mofongo). Still hungry we settled on the rack of ribs (finally) with a side of attitude from our waitress. Also it is clear they have a full bar, but I was not able to order a simple cocktail because they didn't "have it". But at least their beer was cheap...It's possible they treat tourists differently and we speak little Spanish, so don't come for good service or food because they have neither. read more

This restaurant was on our list but we weren't going to go this particular day - after waiting over an hour at a different restaurant we decided to go here. We were immediately seated & given specials. The service was great (fast, accurate, interactive). Food was delicious, and filling - exactly what we needed. After our "snack" at El Platanal, we keep driving around our little island, just looking at mountains, seeing how some things have changed since our last visit, etc. Time for dinner comes and we go close to the water now for some fish. Guayabo's is right on the coast. If you seat outside, you get front seat to the beach. Imagine sunset, nice ocean breeze, and a menu full of delicious options. As if I hadn't had enough Mofongo on this trip, of course I see it on the menu but here there's a variation, they make a Mofongo out of Yuca instead of Plantain. Now I can say I truly love Mofongo, either way is delicious! We started with a sample appetizer plate which included sorullitos de maiz, tostones, chicharrones de pollo, fried cheese, also ordered aranitas (which are thin slices of green plantain fried together and look almost like a spider - add salt and ejoy!). As main course I had the Carrucho (Red Snapper) in a butter Garlic sauce. The Monfongos come with a large plantain chip as decoration (eat it too). The Mofongo relleno de Langosta (mofongo filled with Lobster), and the one with Camarons (shrimp) was really good too. Yes, I tried just about everything everyone else was having at the table :p Now, remember to save room for dessert! They have different kinds of flan (custard) plus more sweet items, but we decided to go with the Flanchoco. This is a mix between cheese flan with cake and guava paste. I had never had this before (which apparently is weird for a Puerto-Rican) now I'm looking for recipes to make it at home. Food is good. View is good. HOWEVER, they charge you an additional tax of 6% (puesto por alimentos) on top of the already expensive 11.5% tax. The manager will tell you that they are supposed to charge you for it; however, no other restaurant in Puerto Rico will charge you for it. I believe they have the wrong g idea about the 6% tax charge. The employees do not know about this 6% tax & they have the tendency to confuse it with the IVU tax. So if you come here, make sure you debate the 6% tax charge as it is not fair. If yo don't, you'll end up paying 17.5 % tax on your bill w/o the tip. read more
