We recently bought a house during Covid and didn't learn about the electrical issues until a few weeks after closing when we initially wanted to update and add a few outlets around the house. To our surprise we needed to change the electrical panel, sub panel, recessed lightingwalk-throughand other fixtures, bathroom fans, ground outlets, and re-wire the entire home. We found out from a neighbor that the previous owner tinkered around and made electrical upgrades themselves- a DIYer not a professional. Learning this was very unsettling as we noticed everything would flicker in the home when a device was plugged into an outlet even a phone charger. So we searched electricians and received many bids. We received some estimates that were ridiculously outrageous considering the fact that we do not live in SF and they charged SF costs. We also received some that were low, but wanted us to not push for a permit or notify pg&e of upgrades - highly don't recommend this. Guerrero's estimate was fair and he answered all of our questions during the walk through. We are very happy and pleased with Guerrero's work. Carlos and his team were early and on time each day. They answered all of the questions, concerns and what-ifs, while walking us through the process throughout the time of the project. My husband and I ask a lot of questions even the same question multiple times to ensure we understood what was going on. Guerrero's team happily answered everything we threw at them. Very Strong Recommendation. Carlos and his crew are incredibly talented electricians. I hired them for a large complex historic building in the East Bay and they installed underground wiring to a new breaker box, dedicated wiring to all high load circuits, and were troubleshooting every step of the way. Amperage draw was far higher than had been anticipated, and Carlos designed a system that can accommodate modern appliance expectations - plus some electric floorboard heaters. (So we don't need to do gas heating.) Carlos is very talented, as is his son and his crew. They are professional, communicate clearly, and will get the job done quickly and efficiently. The crew spent extra time getting a ceiling chandelier to align with the roof rafters, which really impressed me. In terms of Covid, the crew kept social distancing and face coverings the entire time. I cannot recommend them highly enough and I have worked with a lot of electricians.... I would give 6 stars to Carlos and his team if I could. We engaged Guerreros Electric to remove the K&T wiring and update the electrical in our house. The entire experience was a very positive one (it sounds odd to say that about a team of 5 electricians moving around the entire house, crawlspace, and attic for five days, but it's true). A few things stand out to me about Guerreros Electric. First, Carlos is very precise and straightforward. The quote was detailed and, importantly, included a list of things that were not included in the quote, which is helpful for ensuring that everyone is on the same page about what work will, and will not, be done. His accuracy was refreshing. Second, Carlos knows the code and he will tell you what needs to be done to pass inspection, as well as what would not be up to code. (After our inspection was completed, I overheard Carlos discussing with the inspector an atypical scenario from another job, to determine what would be the correct manner to proceed. This impressed me!) Third, his team worked together professionally and efficiently. Much of their work involves someone under the house coordinating with someone inside the house. It is obvious that his team has worked together for a long time. In addition, Carlos holds his team to a high standard, illustrated by his discussing code requirements with them, in his inspections of their work, and the team's strict adherence to keeping everything neat and orderly. The entire team was also responsive to our questions and they were happy to accommodate our preferences. Fourth, Carlos has a great eye for lighting design, in addition to his technical expertise. Our dining room had a sad light in the center of a tray ceiling. I wanted better lighting but could not figure out a way to do it without making the room looking unbalanced (as the dining room table is not centered in the room). Carlos recommended a solution involving recessed lights and pendant lights. The result is unbelievable. Is it weird to love sitting in a dining room, just to enjoy the lighting? We feel like we not only made a great investment in the fundamentals of the house (the type of improvement that is good for the property value, but not one that is necessarily "visible"), but the improved lighting has also markedly improved our daily enjoyment of being in the house. I recently bought an old house (built 1928) and it, like many older houses, had too few electrical outlets and many it did have weren't grounded. I had them rewire existing outlets as well as add a few more outlets to the living room, dining room, two bedrooms, and the laundry room. They were up-front about having to cut holes and how patching wasn't their area of expertise so I might need to do patching afterward. It took them two days. When I saw their work, it was very well done and almost looked like they were never there. (At worst, there were a few extremely small areas that need some touch-up.) Carlos and his team did an outstanding job rewiring our 1920s Berkeley home. Our ceiling lights and switches were fed by original knob and tube that was hidden away in a barely accessible crawl space that was also filled with blown insulation. Carlos was able to disconnect, replace, and remove the knob and tube with a minimum of holes in the wall. His work was precise, and he kept the area totally clean. I was amazed at how little dust or debris was evident. He finished most of the work in two days (faster than I expected) and gave us a great recommendation for someone who specializes in wall repair. In less than a week, the job was done; and the interior finishes look perfect -- impressive considering that we have plaster walls with several different textures. The new wiring in the basement crawlspace is tidy, and Carlos also upgraded some of the switches on the breaker box. Throughout the process, Carlos responded to all of my questions promptly and thoroughly. I'd absolutely work with him again, and recommend him highly. read more

I first encountered Carlos Guerrero a few years ago. It was a Saturday, and all of a sudden the outlets in the bathroom didn't work, even after resetting the GFI. He was willing to come over on a Saturday, but asked if I had checked the circuit breaker. I hadn't, for the simple reason that when the bathroom had been remodeled, the electrician had taped over that particular circuit with it in the "on" position. But, to humor him, I made the effort to check. Guess what? In spite of the tape job, the switch had found its way to the off position. Turned it on and (surprise) everything worked. That saved me a few dollars for a house call. Last week, I needed some minor electrical work done (a light fixture replaced and a switch installed). It took him less than an hour to finish both jobs. He's head and shoulders above other electricians who have worked for me in recent years. I would highly recommend him. read more

Most recently, I had put my house on the market and it was in pristine condition and being shown to potential buyers. Carlos and his crew from Guerreros Electric did an excellent job modernizing the wiring of our 100+ year old house and I want to take this opportunity to thank him and them for their fine work, and recommend them to others. The bulk of the work was taking the knob & tube wiring out, replacing old outlets with grounded ones, and we also asked them to add a few new outlets, fixtures and switches. Our main panel was out of available circuits, and so they also needed to put in a new sub-master panel. As anyone with an old house knows, the hard part is the last few feet: taking the new wiring through the walls to the existing fixtures and outlets. Fishing all these new wires through old walls and attics and basements is an art, requiring both experience in how these houses are put together and imagination to solve the problems that always arise. When you agree to a price on a bid for work like this, the home owner has to just hope and trust they share the same notion of what the final result will be. I'd give 10 stars if I could. Carolos and his team of experts have rejuviated and made safe a 95 year old house and am preparing for sale. In our initial walkthrough, Carlos very quickly pointed out the knob and tube that was in the house (sad news for me.) He asked me to have all the insulation removed from the attic so they could be thorough in replacing the faulty wiring and installing the recessed lights throughout the main floor. His team arrived and reminded me of the days in medical school when a team of surgeons was about to perform a complex operation... Carlos's team were all so focused on their jobs, all seemed to know the code in amazing detail, and had a great way of communicating with each other. As the upper floor was coming to competion I dicovered knob and tube on the lower floor that had been disquised to look like it had beeen updated but it was just a shoddy job done years ago. Service call Saturday after Thanksgiving. $150 but not fixed. A fuse blew and the GFCI circuit that controlled the refrigerator would not hold, starting on Thanksgiving (Thursday). It was difficult to find someone to come out, and several wanted to try to talk me through the problem. Carlos met me on Saturday, after I agreed to pay him $200 for his service call. He and an associate looked at the fuse box, and the GFCI circuit. He told me to ignore the fuse since it did not seem to be controlling anything, and suggested that I reset the GFCI circuit, which I did (again). It seemed to hold while he was here for 25 minutes, so I chalked it up to user error once again, and he left. However, the GFCI failed again. I called Carlos on Sunday, and he suggested that I re-wire the GFCI. I looked at it, but was not comfortable with the repair, and was not willing to spend more of my time and effort to recontact Carlos. I hired another electrician who quickly told me that refrigerators are not supposed to be on GFCI circuits and re-wired it for me ($110). Total cost to re-wire GFCI circuit: $260. Not good. I was disappointed that Carlos did not know that the refrigerator should not be on a GFCI and then did not offer to come out and fix it. Two stars as he only charged me $150 vs. $200 (or $180, as I was eligible for a 10% discount by using Yelp). read more

We've had Carlos and his crew come out to do two big projects for us: install recessed lights & replace the leftover portion of knob and tube wiring in our 90-year-old bungalow. The first time they came out, we had just moved in and wanted to install recessed lights in our living room and master bedroom, 11 cans total. It was a lot of work but his crew installed all of it in one day and it was one of the best investments we made for our home. The second time was to do the big work, replace the knob and tube wiring. This took 2 days but in that time Carlos found some more issues and suggested other improvements. Since some of our old track lighting fixtures would have to get removed as part of the knob and tube replacement, he gave us a discount on adding recessed lights in their place since they were already in our attic, 8 more cans. He also said the installation of the ceiling fan in our office wasn't up to code (oops, we had our handyman do it) and fixed that for us as well. Under our home, the splicing was a mess (expected since various parts of our home was remodeled/renovated at different times) and his crew fixed that too. It's a pretty penny to do this electrical work, but trust Carlos and his team to do it right and for a fair price. I would definitely call him again when we need additional work done. read more
