I went there this noon for burger hunting! It was so great that there was nearly no customers inside in such a weekday's noon. And...that's perfect for a introvert like me lol!!! When I opened the door, a lady said I can sit whenever I want with a really joyful voice. So enjoyable! I ordered a Spicy Cajun burger with curly fries as the side, and a cheesecake with chocolate sauce as my desserts. The burger and curly fries tasted nice, and the texture of the cheesecake was surprisingly smooth. Besides, it was highly appreciated that their servers always provided very appropriate, friendly and passionate help for me! The checking process was also quick enough cuz they paid sufficient and warm attention to their customers. I think their service is the best of my recent tries! I would highly recommend it as a good lunch downtown on weekdays, though it seems wired to recommend a bar as a weekday's lunch place. However, I firmly believe at such time, their environment, services, and food, can let you enjoy very well, especially for a person who doesn't like a too noisy place or too many interaction with people (like me)! read more

We ordered simple dishes directly from the menu. One item was a Mexican salad with chicken. It showed up with no chicken. We let the waitress know and she ran off to the kitchen to correct this. 15 minutes later she asked if we were doing ok. I said our chicken still hasn't come and I pointed out the other missing ingredients from the dish. Eventually they got the rest to us but only once everything else on the table was cold! The waitress brought the bill which had no discount or consideration for the mistake and the subsequent issues that followed. I asked to speak with the manager. I think it may have been the bartender...bar manager? She was unwilling to discuss this AND THREATENED TO CALL THE POLICE IF WE DIDN'T PAY! It was one of the rudest exchanges I've ever had in a restaurant. At the end, she walked away mid-sentence! Food was actually not too bad (why 2 Stars) but we will NEVER go back! Frankly, I don't understand why you would work in a restaurant...a service industry, with that kind of crappy attitude. Whoever she was, she cost you a customer permanently! Serra Champaign Automotive group had our Christmas party last night at Guido's and it was great! It was our second year at Guido's. We had almost 150 people and the food was outstanding as was the atmosphere in the private basement area. It was extremely reasonable too. Went to Guido's in hopes of getting a fish fry. No longer on the menu. The waitress checked and was told they never had fish. My previous review "proves" that they did. We noticed that the menu had changed and was told that it hadn't. They no longer have eggplant fries on the menu ... yes, the menu has changed. I ordered the Philly Beef. The meat was very dried out, yet the onions made the bun so soggy that it fell apart. The rest of my dining companions also thought that it was no where as good as it used to be. Came here with my family that were visiting from out of town. It was recommended to go to the big grove tavern but the wait was an hour guidos is across the street so we went here and we were impressed either their food and drinks I was glad to have them here and have such a good experience with service and lunch. I recently stopped by Guido's when my career brought me to Champaign and I had one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches I'd had in a long time. I was downtown to visit the nearby used bookstore when I discovered I was getting pretty peckish. Upon sitting, Devhin quickly provided me with my requested drink, and I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich with cheddar cheese with a side of fruit. Within 10 minutes, I was chowing down on a really amazing sandwich that would have been delicious even if I weren't starting to become hangry before entering the restaurant. The cheese was perfectly melted, and the bread was crispy on the outside. I loved that the fruit served wasn't just a bunch of melons. One thing I don't like to eat is melon. This fruit cup contained strawberries, pineapple, and grapes. By the time I stood to leave, I was fully sated and prepared to move on with my final day in Illinois. We waited in line for 20 minutes for a table. Once the table opened up, we waited 10 minutes to wait for someone to clean the table. Ten minutes to get menus. After that and 10 more minutes of waiting for a server, we decided to leave. I understand that COVID makes life a challenge but bad service is still bad. I was really impressed with Guido's. Couple of my friends that attend UIUC love dining off-campus here, and I can see why - fab food, affordable beer menu, great service. I was surprised to not have to wait for a table during the height of Saturday dinner rush. Once I sat down our waitress came by, gave me a water and took my beer order. Totally friendly and personable, she took good care of us [wish I could remember her name!]. The five of us were catching up and she seemed to have perfect timing for when to come by for drink refills/seeing how we're doing. I ended up with the Western burger and eggplant fries [thanks be to Yelp]. Totally in love with the entire meal. Over the course of a week, there comes a time in a college student's life when the dining hall food is not an option and cooking a meal requires too much effort. On this particular Thursday, that is exactly what my roommate and I were going through. We typically go for our favorite restaurants (usually the ones within a short drive), however, we tasked ourselves with trying new restaurants in the Champaign-Urbana area this semester. And that is how we ended up at Guido's Bar & Grill. Menu: Big font for the name and smaller font for food description; Subtle colors of maroon, black, goldish yellow, brown I am the type of person that usually is able to find something right away no matter what the menu offers. However, this time was difficult because the menu did not have as much as I expected. I was in the mood for a sandwich and decided to get the Buffalo Chicken. This consisted chicken breasts battered and deep fried, spicy sauce, melted Swiss cheese, ranch or bleu cheese dressing (I chose bleu cheese)! I honestly only chose this option because it came with all toppings and a choice of a side item. Might as well get the most out of my money, right? For my side choice, I chose my favorite of tater tots. Restaurant: Spacious room with the bar in the center and surrounded with multiple booths with low lighting. My roommate and I decided on takeout and were surprised at the amount of people in the restaurant who were studying and networking. When we walked in, we simply walked to the bar and were asked if we ordered takeout. When we said yes, the bartender simply gave us our receipts and then our food with minimal taste. Food: This is where it gets real. Nothing is more terrifying than a hungry college student and unfortunately, Guido's did not meet the mark to satisfy my needs. The food was not as tasty as I expected and it might have been to the combination of the spice as well as the condiments. Also, on a sad note, the sandwich lacked the bleu cheese, which may have aided in the taste. For some reason, the blend of all the ingredients actually made the food quite bland. On a plus note, the tater tots were the perfect combination of crunch on the outside and softness on the inside. Overall, I do not think that I would return for any of the entrees at this restaurant. He went over each drink I ordered and determined that there were some discrepancies with the bill. Yea thanks already knew that. Offered no apology or explanation. I disputed all of these extra charges with my bank. Hopefully if customers are complaining about food items, managers don't review video footage to determine honesty. This is a relatively classy place, not necessarily a college bar. At least, there was a fair mix of ages in here, and nobody even gave me dirty looks when I cheered vociferously for Penn State against the Illini during a Saturday-night game. It was lively but not crowded. They have dark red paint and cherry wood in here, which individually are quite handsome but do not match well together. In general, though, it's an attractive place with a mellow atmosphere. One detraction: the bathrooms are terrible, far worse than you would expect given the rest of the establishment. Service was friendly and attentive from our two waitresses. The first one could not name the bar's whiskeys besides "Jameson, Jack, Jim, Crown" (thankfully I ended up with Woodford Reserve) but give her credit for at least knowing what "whisk(e)y" is (you'd be surprised). read more

It's clear to see that even without booze added their milkshakes are very well made. They were missing a few of the draft beers but still had a lot of options and the waitress gave my boyfriend a few other options to try. Got the Guido's nachos, HIGHLY recommend those! Definitely get a lot of bang for your buck and you can choose to add steak and chicken for only over $1 more. Huge portion size and the Chipotle ranch on the side was super good. This is a bar that i have been to a lot of networking and social events so I can only speak to that aspect of the business. I have not come to this restaurant and sat upstairs to get real service or anything. But, there is a great space downstairs that is versatile and easily used for events. The bartenders are always very friendly and nice. Also, the bar food is fantastic but it usually is always running late coming out of the kitchen. But please, indulge in the quesadillas, tiny burgers, and chicken fingers with honey mustard :D. read more

I honestly don't know how a restaurant can have this bad of food. It seems like a cool restaurant from the outside but inside it's pretty plain bad crusty looking. I ordered the spinach and artichoke dip and it came out fat but unfortunately that meant it was very clearly microwaved. I could tell my the cheese and oil separation and lukewarm food. We then got our entree and we got the Philly Cheese steak sandwich which was $16!!! And the bun was so soggy and meat was not well cooked; I'm not sure how someone can justify charging this much for horrible food. Bottom like is they are extremely overpriced for cheap food and low effort in preparing it.
