Guido's Original Pizza of Kent is a long standing pizza shop with arguably some of the best pizza in this area. I have come here for almost 30 years. This review is based on 2024's food and services. For major events, birthday, holiday, you name it. typically I will order a Guido's Sheet Pizza, pepperoni and sausage. The classic combo everyone loves. The pizza is large, roughly 32 slices, Sicilian style pizza. Depending on who makes it kind of determines the main outcome of the pizza. The dough can range from a little thick and fluffy, to a nice thin but manageable buttery crust with a good bite. A very thick and savory, robust pizza sauce, you can definitely taste the seasonings, sometimes the sauce can be sweet but this is in my preferred range of sauces. This time around, the pizza was extra saucy, so each bite was almost oozing sauce, making each bite perfection. The cheese was cooked fairly well this time around, it wasn't burnt, it has just enough pull with the bite. It was not the thickest amount of cheese I've had on one of their pizza's however, sometimes you do get a very thick almost mozzarella stick like layer of cheese on a middle slice which is awesome. Pepperoni's are a fairly standard blend, these are typically found under the cheese of the pizza, so if you're looking for crispy pepperoni I don't know if that's something you can ask for (i never tried.) but if you're worried about toppings being charred, you won't have that with the sheet pizza. Sausage, the sausage is one of my favorite toppings at Guido's, typically what I assume is some type of Italian sausage crumbled throughout the pizza, very strong flavor most of the time too, so if you're a sausage pizza lover I can recommend this topping 100% of the time from Guido's. Service was great this time around from placing the order in advanced to the day of picking up the food. Compared to last time, this is the spot I remember growing up with. Pricing has gone up abit since the last time I ordered a sheet pizza, its definitely a luxury to order one. I can recommend pairing this pizza with a order of 50 JoJo's. Disclosure: previous review was negative due to poor custom service and failure to make and deliver a pizza properly without a positive resolution. Chicken is dry and flavorless, jo-jo's taste like they've been fried in old rancid grease, so called "hot-rice" was cold and nothing but undercooked white rice with some ketchup and hot sauce on it, and the pizza has "extra items" you don't want. Everything prepared in a dirty kitchen environment. Fly was baked into the dough of the pizza!! Thankfully I managed not to bite into it but close call!! I have been coming to Guidos over the past few years. They are close by my house so it's convenient especially when it's a last minute craving. The folks that work their have always had a great attitude and take pride in what they do. And one thing that is most important is that the food is consistently good time and time again. I went to the Kent location on 5-12-20. They were taking safety precautions and it made me feel safe. Guidos has a sit down restaurant in downtown Ravenna. The Kent location is take out delivery only. I've always liked the old school feel of the actual restaurant in Ravenna. Ok... let's get through the nitty gritty- so to speak... when you first walk through the screen door into the tiny room, you will notice that this pizza place feels like you just stepped back into 1970, and well... it may not have been cleaned since then... BUT!!! Don't let that stop you! All the best dives and hidden food gems have their quirks and charms and grease, and Guidos will not disappoint! They use quality ingredients and heaps of cheese! I recommend their sausage, as it's ground just right and has a unique flavor. Combine that with loads of mozzarella, and you have one excellent pie! Get their sheet pizza and try some of their famous square pieces to satisfy both crust lovers and haters. For larger orders and sheet pizzas, do order in advance though, as it does take them some time. Also, try their chicken and jojo's! The pizza isn't great but the fried chicken is awesome! My biggest complaint is that they are ALWAYS late delivering the food. They say an hour but it's anywhere from an hour 15 to 2 hours every time. I haven't had 1 delivery yet that has been an hour or under and I live 6 minutes away. This is my very favorite pizza place in the area. I think they're unique - the square crust, they use a ton of cheese - this is a really hearty and good pizza. I've been eating it for decades, actually, and it tastes exactly the same every time. I think it's gotten better with the new changes. It's way cleaner in there than it used to be. I used them for a golf outing I put on. So much cheaper than anywhere else. Like, not even close. Their wings are huge and the prices are awesome. Pizza tastes like it always has. The veggie lasagna is so good. I'm not a huge lasagna guy, but it's to die for. The customer service seems better. I love their Pizza... chicken and JoJos are the best in the area. You feel the blood flow slow down a few beats, and your arteries thicken with every bit. Hands down, the best pizza and chicken in the area of Kent/Stow. It's exactly what you want in a pizzarea. It's all about the food. Crisp crust. Delicious sauce, generously portioned, and the cheese... Also generously portioned, and baked crisp. The chicken is also generous, and delicious. Plump breasts, tender thighs, and breaded with flavor on top of flavor. A 2 piece will cost you $6, but that's with a breast and thigh, plus 3 sides. I'm biased. I've tried EVERY pizza place in Kent. After more than 20 years, this one returns as the favorite. It's the one the daughters HAVE to have every visit! Why? Well, the comment about "lasagne" is true, but we ask for it with 'light sauce" - great result! It's crust is like no other in town - crispy ... yet dough-y enough not to crackle in your hand. I've had guidos ever since I was a kid I grew up eating their pizza, chicken and salad, we've catered with them ever since I can remember! I just moved back to town and was so excited to have Guidos again!! Unfortunately I was really disappointed... the pizza isn't as thick, there isn't as much cheese, the salads barely have anything in them, and the chicken barely has any chicken on it! We complained last time a lady with black hair and she was very rude. I'm not sure if owners have changed or what but I have not been impressed. Hopefully the owner will see this review and maybe change some things. I will be back to update this soon! We order every Wednesday! Guidos is a Diamond in the ruff. Only a few minutes from where I live in Kent, I never knew what I was missing out until recently. Doesn't look like much from the road but here's where you DONT judge a book by its cover. Their Pizza is awesome and now my "go-to" pizza place. HORRIBLE service. I called 2 hours ago to order a pizza. I was told 45 min.-1 hr. for delivery. I live 5 minutes from the restaurant and was told 1/2 ago that the driver had just left. I called to ask the manager to comp the pizza and his reply was, "absolutely not! I'm not going to comp a pizza". We're now lost customers and we ordered from them each time we ordered pizza. I actually really like their food. It's their service that stinks. I actually used Door Dash yesterday to order some chicken for dinner due to the terrible delivery service Guido's provides. Well, that was the last time I will be ordering anything from them. My delivery person called when the delivery was due to arrive to tell me they said they hadn't done that order yet. It was due to my place at 6:23 and didn't arrive until just before 7:00pm!!! This was not the DoorDash person's fault - it was Guido's! 3 strikes and you're out. First of all every time I order from here they always forgot something! I ordered a pasta dinner that was supposed to come with a side salad and a roll, well they forgot the salad and roll so I called them to tell them and they were rude about it. Then they brought it to me 35 minutes later and the roll wasn't wrapped and the delivery guy had his thumb pushing down on it. Ummmm yeah like I really want to eat that now! Not!!! I left 5 stars for their pizza, as it is spectacular! However I'd really like to see some improvement on the chicken and salad. The chicken breading needs more spices please! And the anti-pasta salad needs more cheese and more meat. It is too much iceberg lettuce. The meat is low and I've never had an anti-pasta with such a small amount of cheese which is strange since their pizza is loaded with it. I hope they will take my comments to heart! read more
