We…read morewere there for 2.5 days and we managed to finish ALL of the (walkable) trails in the whole park. The park is small but gorgeous and has lots of things to do. Camping, swimming, fish, kayak/canoe... we did two evening swims, and one where it was completely secluded. Absolutely magical. Sadly didn't spot any gators during this trip, but we saw lots of deer and armadillos! The mosquitoes are wicked tho so be sure to pack loooots of bug spray. Our bug spray had DEET in it and although it detered them a bit, it didn't stop them fully. It also rained twice for a little bit over the span of two days so that was really nice considering we come from austin and we haven't seen rain in a few months. Our first shelter actually ended up flooding so staff allowed us to love our things into another available and dry shelter. So anyway - overall we had the most amazing camping trip here. Pros: everything Cons: mosquitos We definitely left here covered head to toe in bites! Haha.

The park is pretty vast and spread over quite a few areas, always want to make sure you get your park permits, good news is they are affordable and usually easy enough to obtain. Since I live locally i almost always take visitors out to this park to explore and make a day of it always live stopping in the little rangers store front area and purchasing souvenirs for our visitors as well a keep sake and they have quite a few to choose from all in all always a pleasant experience!!!

Campsites are large, but its open between them, so might be a little weird if crowded. There is water at every third campsite (also may be weird if crowded). Bathrooms vary: ours was above average, but one further down was old and creepy. The area we were in had lakefront camping, but there was a 6 ft bulkhead down to the water. Scary with kids to be sure. The small swimming area was uninviting. The trails are nothing spectacular. One was closed, when I asked why, the park host told me a hunter had set up a deer blind that could shoot towards the trail. Hope they get that worked out. The interpretive center is very nice and a surprise to see highly recommended for kids. This lake is very nice for canoeing as it is shallow in many areas and they rent canoes and have "canoe trails".

I am emailing to report that we are completely floored and disappointed on how our child was treated while at your camp last week. The lack of accountability is unacceptable! That your nurse would argue with us about our child's medication instructions, after she did not administer medication to our children all week, is so irresponsible! I made an attempt to speak to those in charge, but everyone kept passing me on to someone else! On the way home, our child informed us that she was so sick, she was having accidents in her bed; and asked to call home to inform us and was denied access to a phone! This is unacceptable!! If YOUR STAFF is incapable of taking care of OUR CHILDREN while in your care, then at the very least, someone should have contacted us and given us the option of coming to get them! Her counselors bullied her and allowed for her bunk mate to also bully her the entire week! She stated that one counselor pushed her because the counselor did not feel that our child was doing as instructed. The other one stepped on her hand and stated to her, "I am so NOT sorry for doing that." Our child also asked to see her younger sister because she was so sick and was denied the request when other campers were allowed to hang out with their siblings. When she asked why she could not see her sister, the counselor told her because it was her first year; and that only campers who have been attending for several years were allowed to visit with their siblings. If there is going to be such favoritism then maybe you all should NOT have put out a Groupon. Our child came home broken and has not been herself since we picked her up on Saturday. She is distant, she does not want to make eye contact with anyone, and she does not want anyone to touch her and most importantly has not smiled since she has been home! I seriously hope that you will re-train all your counselors; but especially your nurse, because all this behavior is inexcusable!

Christy has an attitude problem and when I told her my steak was unacceptable, she told me " I sold 100 of them yesterday. If we do t want it seasoned we can ask for no seasoning. ALL RESTAURANTS put seasoning on their Steaks she explained. ".No they dont!!!!! Thats why their is salt and pepper on the table. I paid the 34.99 for this Steak. Never again. She could have told me we would be glad to remake it for you. But No ,it's take it the way we make it.
