I decided to use the builders preferred lender, American Mortgage. Florida Real Estate law is a little different from Georgia Real Estate law and the learning curve, on my part, made the processes a little longer than expected. The Loan Officer I worked with, Chelsey Jennings, was extremely professional and made herself available to answer my questions, day or night, 7 days a week. Ultimately, I got a great interest rate and the my home closed, on time without any last minute surprises. I would highly recommend American Mortgage!

I was referred to this company by a realtor, and was told I would get the lowest price possible…read more Bottom line, they quoted me high rates that weren't even being offered by banks (banks were 2% less than what he was saying). He said it would be thousands of dollars more at closing if I wanted lower rates, and that he would take care of lender fees. I ended up calling 7 different banks and they said they have no clue where his quotes were from, and sent me the actual quotes for that time period (same day as his quotes/ within the same hour and all banks had roughly the same rates, but none were even close to being as high as his). I ended up closing at an extremely low rate, and paying very little at closing. Going with the bank, I saved 2%, $200 monthly payment, close to $10k at closing and $250k over the 30 years on interest. I'm not sure what motivated him to drive up my price, but I will NEVER recommend him to anyone. He acted like he was doing me a favor and helping me out, but after very little research, I see how these companies will attempt to scam people that aren't savvy with the house buying process.

This is the 17th home purchase I have made and by far, the worst mortgage experience I have ever had. You call the numbers on their web site and they do not work. Everything seemed so Micky Moused.
