I reached out to a buddy who owns a construction company in dover because he knows lots of contractors and I didnt want to get ripped off. He recomend a&m emphatically. In a few hours shawn was able to diagnose the problem, swap a few parts, and do some custom welding. I was expecting to hear that this would cost thousands, and be a major overhaul. He thought outside the box, saved me a ton of money, didnt try to upsell or drag it out.

Dave happened to be ten minutes away and quoted us $295. He arrived promptly, snaked the drain, then told us the job was actually cheaper than we described on the phone and only charged us $195. The honesty was refreshing - we were ready for $295 and desperate for service and he charged us the lower price even though he really didn't have to. I am about to write a check for $446.30 for a hasty job of their plumbers drilling a…read morehole in the dining room wall guessing that a pipe would be there for an outdoor spigot--and being wrong. The plumber (presumably the senior plumber) showed up, looked down in the crawl space and was afraid to find the pipe there, despite my willingness for them to remove the portion of the ceiling to find it (my mother installed it but it no longer served its purpose). So they decided to drill a hole in a wall that now looks unseemly and devastating to the room. I had been waiting for them to do the job for over six months. They asked me to wait. I did. Patiently. For months. They said they'd do the work in the spring. My bill is for September. Not only did they not apologize for their poor work, they have doubled down that this is the way plumbing works. This is the way BAD plumbing works. The sad thing is that the elder plumber chose not to appear to clean up the mess and they sent a nice young man instead. He attempted to recreate the statement of facts about what they had told me but I refuted it and he relented. He was a nice kid. I have no reason to lie. I told him to find someplace else to work. They do sloppy work. They had to clean up a small space they created earlier, when they DID do a decent job (young men who probably left), that was supposed to fit snugly that I had to tape with painter's tape to keep from falling. When I spoke with the manager, and asked for a discount for the shoddy work he said he would try to fix it. He said that I acted as if they were idiots. I never said anything disparaging. But the shoe did fit. What bothers me is that the senior plumber just wanted to destroy something. He loved the thrill of drilling into a wall. He was so eager. I asked him to look at my neighbor's crawl space to see where it was. But no house is the same, was the response. But he didn't even try. You know what's there, now? A grate. It's going to coast me another $800 most likely to replace the drywall and match the color (yellow). I have NEVER been so disappointed in a company like this in my 65 years. They should go out of business. They couldn't even fix a stopper that they "fixed" that didn't fit flush like it was supposed to. The young man fixed it the second time around. Obviously, I'm not pleased with them. But the fact that they were unapologetic suggests that they will do the same to you--they'll do a shoddy job and you'll have no recourse. Incompetence and arrogance are not a good business model.

Installed the wrong size (too short) and didn't complete the job yet demanded payment of $3100. They told my tenant to call an electrician to finish the job. Electrician charged $750 and left a conduit connection hanging from the ceiling to the top of the hotwater heater which was too short to connect to the wall where the previous one had been. Also did not provide any paperwork or instruction manual and I had to contact the business repeatedly so I could register it for warranty. The manufacturer also required them to fill out a form which they hadn't done. i did get them to honor the quote of the outrageous price of $3000 and deduct the $750 for the electrician because I hadn't paid them yet. Found them dishonest - especially by adding that extra $100!

Granite State arrived and, in less than one hour, fixed the issue and gave us great advice for lowering the risk of reoccurrence. They provided an action plan for corrective next steps, if needed. American Mechanical & Plumbing was recommended by someone on a local community Facebook page so I contacted him by phone. He was very easy to talk to and he confirmed my suspicions about the old well line being no good. He recommended trying to lay a temporary poly line above ground but given the distance and grade it just wouldn't work but it wasn't from lack of trying. Jeff and his partner tried for a few hours with no luck and then only charged us for the fittings. Fast forward a week and we had another great guy doing all the excavation and he and Jeff linked up and came up with a plan to get water back on. Excavation guy did his thing and then this morning (July 12th) he showed up and had everything connected and water flowing in two hours. He came up with the idea to ditch our old shallow well jet pump and put a pump in the well with a 20 gallon pressure tank in our basement. What an upgrade. We really can't recommend him enough.
