Chris in service is extraordinarily helpful, going above and beyond to provide exceptional customer service. That tracks with the general atmosphere at this GC. I never feel they don't have time for me. Parker and Ryan in lessons are wonderful helping with my schedule and giving me the patient instruction I need with my singing, guitar playing, and music production. Ryan is a high quality teacher who is very thoughtful and pragmatic with his lessons plans. Sarah always meets me with a smile and greets me by name. If I could give a zero I would. There were two men working at this location (Rock Rd.) at the register. One a white man with hole in his ear earrings and lots of tattoos. Not a problem if you know what you are doing. The other a black man who acted as if he was new (kept needing help by the tattoo man). Black guy had no experience whatsoever. The item we were buying we asked to test it, the black guy acted like he couldn't even get the stuff out of the box. He fumbled with the cord as if he never seen one. I had to direct him to take the item over to the speaker, otherwise it would have taken more time for him to take everything apart and go to the other area. He couldn't answer questions, had to refer to the computer (or earring guy). The problem was there was a backup of people and he was slow as molasses. The phone would ring and he would answer and he wouldn't say, "Can you hold please", he would take the call as if he didn't have anyone in line (did this several times and of course he couldn't help them, and they called back and he would say "my bad."). The biggest problem, I asked him what were we waiting for and he said "I'm waiting on the computer" as he stirred into outer space at it. Then what really was the icing on the cake a black lady came in line with her kids and he stirred at her over and over (come on dude - do your job - oh that's right you don't know how). We stood there for God knows how long and FINALLY the tattoo guy stepped in and looked at the computer and saw we had paid and all we needed was a receipt. He asked if we needed a receipt and printed it out. PLEASE don't go here. Go to the one on Watson. This Guitar center on St. Charles Rock Rd. Is a joke. Please don't send me a "Sorry to hear about your poor service"...obviously what you are doing isn't working. read more

I bought something online to be picked up in the store. The website said that it was in stock at this location. I went there to buy other things and to check on if my things were ready as they should've been in stock. After waiting at the counter for what seemed like 20 min the person could only find one and seemed very confused. And it seemed like he also couldn't find the order I placed and did not try hard enough to find it. So I not only wasted my time and gas to get up there but also the time of the 5 people behind me. Usually I am fine going to guitar center but really it's just a bunch of over priced equipment and horrible service. The next time I'm definitely going to buy online or find a local store because this is just getting crazy. It seems like the BRIDGETON store has a lot of bad customer service seeing all the other reviews as well. It also seems like nothing has changed over the past year so I can tell that these reviews are not working. If we got reviews this bad at my work I can assure you we would all get talked to and if not someone get fired. So something needs to change. I've been shopping here for many years. I have a small audio studio that I needed some upgraded parts. As I tried to explain to the young man what I needed... He kept talking about technology and all of the things that had no bearing on my needs. I asked him several questions none of which he answered he kept going into technology. I will not be shopping here again. The service is terrible. Waited and waited to checked out. I only had two packs of picks and the store wasn't that busy. Finally rang me up and gave a total and asked if I wanted to donate to the store music charity thing. I said, "No, I don't " and he turned around and began waiting on somebody else, leaving my money on the counter and to stand there even longer. After a couple minutes, I finally just grabbed my picks and walked out, leaving the money, and not receiving my change. They may have gotten their 78 cents for their "charity" but this chain store will never receive another dime from me in the future. Called ahead for a bass case and was told it was in stock and it would be out front waiting for pickup. While waiting close to 30 minutes in store, I was asked if I was interested in a different case (I was not). Eventually I was told they actually don't have it in stock because of a problem with the inventory system. I wound up ordering the case to be delivered to home from a different store. I wanted to buy a turntable, and as before when I went there to look at guitars, there was no one in that area, so I searched everywhere for one. I finally walked up to the counter where there were 4 dudes bullshitting and asked if they had turntables. The guy with the long hair and hose ring said they had several different ones and said they were over there, pointing across the store, I told him that I was just over there and there are none, well, he did everything but call me a liar, and so I went back over there to look specifically where he said they were, and as I saw before there were none. Why do they hire lazy people like this, I knew what I wanted, had cash, all I needed was a little assistance. Welcome to Guitar Center, where it doesn't matter how much (or how little) you know, you will leave knowing one thing for sure, you got the best service damn near ever. Or at least that was my experience. I wish I had been more attentive to the names of all the people I spoke to here on the two visits it took to find the guitar I wanted. Everyone was fantastic, informative, and eager to help this less than novice musician find a guitar. I walked in with literally no true knowledge of guitars. I had a loaner from my father that I have been using to attempt to learn to play. The loaner seemed difficult to play, and even when I knew I was hitting certain notes, they weren't registering, leading me to believe the guitar had a short somewhere. My solution was to just go buy a guitar and give the loaner back to my dad. On the first visit, I asked a lot of questions, and despite the store being full of people and closing sooner than later, everyone did their best to point me in the right direction. The biggest piece of advise given was to come back when I had more time, sit, play around on a few, and find a guitar that "felt" right in my hands. On the second visit, I did just as advised. I found a few guitars I liked, and when I had trouble narrowing the selection down to one, another employee named Kurt gave me the low down on sound quality and which features would be best for someone just starting out. In the end, I walked out with an inexpensive yet quality guitar. I would highly recommend stopping in here if you are even curious about trying to learn to play. Guitar center has slowly turned from a hip place to hang out, meet people, get deals, and buy quality musical instruments. Now, it's like being at a used car dealership, 20 sales guys staring at you, everything is low end but the price is inflated significantly. Every holiday they have their 10, 15, or 20% off one item. 5 years ago you actually got 10, 15, or 20% off a guitar. In the last couple years, they now have an exclusions list. For example, the following brands are excluded from any guitar discount, promotion, or green tag sale event; fender, Gibson, ESP, schecter, Jackson, martin, and ibanez. So yeah... The in-shop selection is hit-or-miss, but I want to rate the repair service, as they did such a great job. From the get-go, it wasn't about how much I knew or how experienced I was, Steve in the repair department walked me through everything I needed to know, and let me know frankly what services I needed, neglecting to try to sell me stuff I didn't need. Everyone in store was polite, especially considering what must have been a busy weekend, and when I came back to pick my guitar up, the situation was exactly the same. They didn't have the picks (plectrums) I wanted to replenish, but I really can't be too surprised compared to other brick-and-mortar store experiences I've had lately. Employees stared at me for five minutes before I had to approach one for help on a guitar strap and bass picks. He refused to even leave his counter and just directed me to the guitar counter. Asked the other guy for help and he was utterly clueless as to what I wanted and why. Didn't ask me why I wanted bass picks, just that the ones that were clearly marked as BASS PICKS were really ukulele bass picks even though the word ukulele wasn't even on it. Asked him about a strap I saw on the website for three bucks (site claimed it was there).."oh we don't have that what about this Ernie ball that's more expensive?" The other day I went to this location and decided to treat myself to a guitar and amp. It's covid-19 and they are under occupancy restrictions in which I felt extremely safe shopping at this location because of the layout of the store kept people at safe distances. There was a young girl that was my salesperson and was very helpful and knowledgable. But, the store manager ended up going way out of his way for me answering numerous redundant questions to help better my experience. The store manager was Awesome! Unfortunately, I'm bad with names. Since the purchase of this amplifier and guitar in which I'm very pleased with, I haven't been able to play it because I got too drunk and came down with gout and i've been in serious pain and laid up for 48 hours. Shoot me now!! But in the midst of all of this stumbled across a YouTuber by the name of Davie504 which has been a blessing in disguise because as soon as I'm able to drive my car and drink again at home of course I plan on going there and purchasing a bass and bass amp as well. For some reason, I feel like saying slap like on my review!!! As a drummer, i passed this up because it clearly said "Guitar Center", but i was looking around online and came across their website. They offer drums, keys, dj stuff, bass, mics, amps, and of course guitars. Everything is heavy duty and good quality. They should name it band center because some people might confuse it as just a guitar shop. The only problem is that it is pricey. I would recommend this for all ages from beginners to pros. read more

I really like the Guitar Center brand and this store is no exception. I recently visited this store to get a gift card for a Christmas present. When I walked in the door I was promptly greeted. I asked where I could get a gift card and the greeter took me directly to the cash register and rang up my purchase. I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. I have visited this location in the past for drum accessories and have not been disappointed. The staff are always friendly and willing to help. I've been in a lot of music stores in my day that have made me feel uncomfortable since I'm not a "professional". I don't have that feeling at Guitar Center. Make sure to sign up for their email list and get coupons in your email. The coupons make their prices that much better! read more

A very depressing experience stepping into this store when you consider how low the quality of staff and product has gotten over the last couple of years. Looks like the new owners at Bain have successfully molded this into an knowledge-inept version of a sort of Wal Mart for musicians; clueless employees, boring and predictable product lines, etc. The digital piano room is always the most depressing to me with odd layouts, poor selection, and very few new models to test out and listen to. I've been to Guitar Centers all over the country and we have a pretty good one here in STL. Probably the best as far as the staff goes. Other GC's (houston, nashville) have more high end guitars (Gibson and Fender custom shop, PRS, etc) but this store has a nice supply of $400-1500 guitars. Pretty good on acoustic side. Can't beat the GC return policy. They kill you on trade in value but that's to be expected as they have to resell for a profit. It's a nice convenience though. read more

I went online to purchase a beginner violin for my granddaughter's birthday gift. I ordered it and had it shipped to Paducah, KY so she would get it in time to start her lessons the following week. Come to find out, the bridge was missing on the instrument. My son called me, I gave him the toll free number and the order number. The printout of my order states "condition: new". Well, if this is a new instrument, why was the bridge clearly removed because there were scratches. He was told to either drive to one of their stores (really, he lives in Kentucky!) to get a bridge or pack it up, send it back and they would send a new one. I'm truly disappointed in the customer disservice this company gives. I am only rating it 2 stars because it shipped pretty quickly. Won't be buying anything else here, for sure! read more

There's a few bad reviews on here and I thought I owed it to them to tell my story. Without going into a lot of unnecessary details I will just say that I drove over 100 miles to purchase a used item that was advertised on their website. They had put a hold on it for me, but while I was there making the purchase, somehow a glitch occurred and the item was sold to someone else. The store management team worked with me quickly and efficiently to arrange a very fair alternative deal on a new item and I left there as a satisfied customer. Bottom line: sometimes weird stuff happens. What separates a good business from a bad business is how they handle things afterward. I certainly appreciate the crew at this GC going the extra mile to make things right. WTF? Just close your doors. I gave 1 star because there's no option for zero. What they didn't know was that I had a $400 visa gift card and I wanted to spend most if not all there. So after waiting and waiting, I just decided to look up product reviews online instead of asking the sales guys who continually ignored me or were too busy playing electric guitar. Then I said to myself, just go online to buy since is obvious they don't value you or your dollars. Sad, because there was one "older" guy who was working his a$$ off but of course he couldn't be everywhere all the time--so really just pay the other guys' salary to him or just close your doors. So here is the issue... I purchased a product from Guitar Center right before COVID-19 broke out and shut down all of the stores in my area and the next city over. I wanted to return the product that I purchased well within the return policy because of a poor quality product. Now that all of the stores are closed I was not able to return the product. I contacted online sales and customer service to make the return but they are not able to process in store purchase returns. I was then told by customer service that when store open back up that they will be honoring full returns including warranty's and services. Now that stores are open I go in to make the return and they will not refund the warranty that I purchased on the product. Not only will they not return the money issued for the warranty they will not honor any type of store credit or make it right. I was told more than once that the full return would be issued once stores are reopen. The store did nothing to make this right and as a customer I am not satisfied. You get pressured into purchasing a warranty that come to find out is not even issued through the store you purchase it from just some average third party insurance company. Other mainstream retailers have much better policy's in place and are doing a much better taking care of their customers. I will never purchase from Guitar Center again because of the poor service that was received in addition to the miss information that was given. DO NOT BUY and Warranty from this merchant you will be highly disappointed as am I. Guitar Center you need to do better and take care of your customers at any cost I understand that some things can't be done but in those situations you do right by the customer and offer a discount or store credit. Come up with some type of solution versus just offering nothing and just let the customer loose a good deal of money. People are suffering enough with a Global pandemic taking money from them in addition to that is in extremely disrespectful. Offer something versus a blank look and shrugged shoulders saying there's nothing you can do... Poor Service, Poor Quality, Unacceptable Customer Experience. read more

I have been playing guitar off & on since the mid 60's and have spent money and time at the GC in Creswood and they have bent over backwards any time I've needed it.
