When I raised the issue, the store manager hid behind "policy" and offered no real solution--only a token one-month refund after months of no service. So funny. Paying for private lessons and getting nothing is unacceptable. Very disappointing customer service. This is not how a reputable business should treat customers. The online order process was simple and convenient. I chose to use the curbside pick up option. The email confirmation provided details on the steps to follow once you reach the store. The only missing piece was there were no curbside pickup parking spots that were earmarked. At least I could not locate them. Once parked next to the store I checked in using link provided in the email. An associate from the store arrived within five minutes with my purchase and loaded it in my car. She checked the ID for confirmation and I was good to go. The entire process was very convenient and safe. The employees wore masks at all times and it is mandatory if you are stepping into the store. Plenty of parking is available. Given the recent news of bankruptcy of the organization, it is important to support local businesses. First of all... I see the pricing on here labeled "Pricey". As a long time producer, composer and songwriter.. Let me say, NOTHING in the music industry comes cheap. It's all about investing in your craft. I think they are fair with their pricing, and like most large retailers - willing to match prices with all their competitors. This review is based on my last experience with the Lewisville Guitar Center. I purchased something from the new location in Denton, ordered to be picked up in Lewisville. The associate double charged my Guitar Center Gear Card, making my whole transaction incomplete. When I went to the Lewisville location, nothing was ready to be picked up. This is where most places fail. But I had a very pleasant experience with PRESTON, the G.C. Manager. Preston did a lot of ground work to find out why my transaction hadn't completely gone through. He had to deal with corporate, as well as the credit card provider (Synchrony Bank). Preston maintained a professional and amiable attitude, even though I was somewhat irate at first. He showed me specifically what had occurred, called Synchrony multiple times, and I watched him stay on hold for almost an hour to wait to resolve the issue. After everything was settled, he finally rung up the items like they were supposed to be, and assured me that he would notify me when everything was ready to be picked up. Horrible experience. Elliot, the manager in the drum department and one of his employees wasted one hour of my life. An employee had a black Mapex Raven drum kit and Sabian cymbal he was selling, brought it in, and proceeded to play ebay with me and the store. He acted like he was going to sell the kit to me, so I waited and waited and waited... Finally, an hour later, I come to find that he blows me off, sells the kit to the store for $410 (I had offered him $440), and then the manager, Elliot, turns around and says he is selling the kit for $550. Won't even cut me a deal. Corporate America capitalism at its finest. Deutsch bags galore at this store. Stay away. They will waste your time and try to waste your money. I play acoustic guitar... the trouble is that I haven't played it in over 25 years and have been seriously considering learning electric guitar at my ripe age of 50.Wasn't really sure if it was a genuine desire or just my upcoming mid-life crisis speaking, so I ventured into the guitar shop in Lewisville to gather more information and couldn't have been for happier. Met Carlos, I told him about my situation and even mentioned to not spend a lot of time with me; instead the guy stuck with me, showed me different guitars, when thru every option and features, didn't brush me off when I attempted to play it (like a 50 year old kid riding a bike for the 1st time without training wheels). I went back few days later in telling him I found a used guitar elsewhere, he didn't make me feel bad, instead he showed me a Fender Mustang V V2 Head and Speaker cabinet Amp setup that was just brought in from a customer that was in NEW condition. I bought it, even if I didn't have my guitar yet. Carlos is a great guy and so are everyone else in the store. We came in to buy a ukelele and an employee or manager very rudely tried to force my one year old child into wearing a mask. By the way the CDC does not recommend anybody under the age of 2 to wear a mask. When I told him that wasn't happening and it wasn't safe, he stormed off and made some comment. We decided to leave and never will shop here again, what a shame. We are not against masks and my husband and I both were wearing ours, to comply with the state orders and CDC recommendations. However we will not force our baby to wear one unsafely for anybody. This store needs to seriously read up on what the CDC recommends for babies and children. Yikes. read more

I had a faulty light that I returned using the pro coverage warranty. The problem is that I didn't have my receipt and Amy (customer service manager) had a difficult time pulling up my account because someone typed my name wrong initially. The phone number was also very old. Regardless, she took her time with me and made sure I got a replacement product ASAP. Walked in needing some effects equipment on short notice and Shelby was quick to point out an inexpensive, reliable, and overall great pedalboard that fit my needs and budget. As far as guitar stores go - half their stuff is either broken or way over priced. The only item they have worth buying is either strings or guitar cables. They don't tune or clean any of their guitars. They don't keep up to date with guitarists like Vai, Yngwie, Petrucci, Satriani etc.. and the drum department - I think they are struggling to keep their head above water financially. read more

If you want a rude experience call this Guitar Center. They are constantly opening up late and today was the icing on the cake. Their listing on the internet has them opening up at 10:00am on Saturday. Knowing they constantly open up late I waited until 11:00am and when I arrived several customers were waiting in the parking lot. No hours of operation posted anywhere out front (and I have mentioned this to them on numerous occasions over the years.) and not a sign explaining why they were not opened. When I called at about 1:00pm to see if they had finally decided to open the "DUDE" who answered the phone said "Hey Look it was a SNOW DAY", I told him it snowed on Thursday and the roads are clear this bright sunny Saturday the 02/05/22! He then raised his voice and said " is there something I can help you with?" I has asked what are your hours tomorrow and he stated normal operating hours and hung up the phone. read more

She found Jared who was extremely knowledgable and took well over 30 minutes of his time...out of his work day...to show me how to string a guitar, for free...and wouldnt accept a tip. My daughter had a free 45 min group guitar class. Wife took her to the lesson and the lesson did not last even 30 min. My wife was waiting on the car because there was no room for her to sit in the room. She was watching the time for 45 min to pass to go back in. But because the class ended so fast she was sitting in the store by herself. Not safe for my 7 year old daughter to be in the store by herself waiting for a parent because they decided to end early. Very upset! Will not be back!!!! Just because your lesson ends early you dont let a 7 years old little girl stand around all alone in a public store. Very irresponsible with children. Don't let your child sign up for lessons at the Lewisville location. We are not the only parents that are very upset. read more

I never would have dreamed that I could get a *complete* Luna inlaid acoustic guitar with case and a sweeeet acoustic amp with all the accessories (capo, strap, and 2 year damage protection) for $40 per month no interest! Marty really knew his stuff and manager Preston was an extraordinary help in getting me equiped with a price I could afford. Their selection of instruments is astounding and multiple cozy and inviting playrooms are available to test and play to your heart's content. I took my Takamine in for repair, and although it was my first time there and was not charged for a very minor repair, the employees treated me as if I were there to spend a bankrole. Customer Service This review will deal mostly with the third item on this list: customer service. I have been to many different Guitar Center locations. Some are good, and some are not so good (I'm looking at you Plano). When I enter a store, I want an experience. I'm looking for knowledgable employees that are willing to take time to talk to me about instruments and give insight into what they are supposedly passionate about. Every time I enter this store (maybe twice a month?) I am greeted, and recently the people that are there remember me. I am then able to continue any conversation on any number of topics that I have already talked to them about. I have my electric guitar guy, I have my bass guitar guy (shout out to Gunner!), but I will admit that I'm still looking for someone on staff that is passionate about acoustic guitars like I am. Regardless, the guys there care about their customers AND the merchandise they carry. I was looking to get an ESP LTD B4-E bass guitar. If you happen to be familiar with this instrument, you are also aware that at the time I am writing this review it is not in stock ANYWHERE. Needless to say, the guys at the Lewisville location worked hard to find this instrument, and they got one to their store TWO MONTHS before .com said they would be available. These guys build friendships with their customers. Enough said. If that is what you want, Lewisville is your location. Now, I will admit it doesn't always have the selection that I wish it did (does ANY Guitar Center?), but that's ok because I know my guys will help me find what I'm looking for. I don't know how or why this place is still open. I just wanted a keyboard stand that wasn't priced three times what they are worth. They now have their own brand of stand that they think deserves a ridicules mark up. I know they think that if the brand name isn't sold anywhere else, they won't be shopped on it online and they can charge whatever they want. However, what the geniuses in their sales department don't think about is that NOONE cares about the brand name when the price is so high. Amazon has the exact same stand (different brand name) for literally 1/3 the price. When I asked the salesman if that was right price, he answered well that brand isn't found anywhere else so that is the right price. We can't mark it down. Now, I'm literally the only customer in the store and rather than selling me one of their products, they wanted me to leave and buy on amazon. So I did. read more

This review is aimed towards Guitar Center's mailing and shipping, and general purchasing system, because the store is generally good and has quality products - other than the fact that my acoustic guitar was shipped cracked at the bottom and broken, so we decided to return it. Turns out the store had none in stock for the next 5-7 days, but we saw another GC store had 2 in stock, so we went to go and get it replaced. We arrived and they told us they would be able to replace it. Turns out, they didn't have any idea where the guitars on record were, and said within the next 3-5 days would be when the next ones arrived. So now, I'm left at home, in the last week of winter break, without a guitar, waiting for the next 3-5 days to get one that they assured us they had. Absolutely terrible, first my original guitar that I got for Christmas is broken, then the store has none in stock, and then they lie about having some in stock, after me being eager and excited to go and get it. Needless to say, it has ruined my winter break, and I don't have the time to play after it's over. EDIT: it's now been the said 3-5 days, and they've decided to delay it. Again. By a week. On the day it was supposed to be delivered. Not. happy. I would ask for at least their crappy little 15% off coupon but I'm sure I'd open the envelope and it'd be ripped, and I'd ask for a new one and the response would be "ok we'll get it to you tomorro- oh, kidding, next month." read more

5/1/16 I was there today around 5:30 and my friend was playing on the a small 10" guitar amp combo and the manager (not sure of his name due to his name tag being being flipped over) turned off his amp while he was playing and told him he wasn't allowed to play on the amps anymore because he was being too loud, I personally did not think he was being too loud and besides how loud could you get on a 10" speaker? Meanwhile I was playing on the drums and the manager had asked an employee to get me off the drums for being "too loud" (once again there were drummers including the employee working in the drum section playing 2x as loud as me) once again I personally did not think I was being loud at all, I was simply just seeing how the drums sounded, and when I asked the employee why I was getting kicked off I was given no reason, but I did see the manager talk to him just a few seconds prior, I come to guitar center to play and test new gear, and today not only was I not respected as a customer I was not even aloud to play.... I will be taking my business to Sam Ash Music in Dallas, it's quite the drive but it is worth it, at least there I can not only play on the gear but I will receive a good level of respect from their employees. read more
