Bought a guitar with my daughter and when we got home she started to play, but didn't realize it was to big for her fingers to grasp. A few days later I went in to return the guitar. The gentleman that helped me was so helpful. First he did not give me any issues with returning the guitar. Second, he went through four different guitars, and tuned them making sure they sounded right. He made a few suggestions on different guitars plus saved me money. This guy which I believe his name is Foiser (hope I'm spelling it right) went above and beyond his job description. When I got home my daughter played the guitar. I asked her if she liked it? she expressed she "loved it". I could not be happier with his service. Thank you.

Additional cymbal sets, not counting the ones currently on the drumset.

Loved this store, as most of its staff is mostly super friendly and helpful, but recently had uncomfortable experience, where I returned something & was questioned about it in a way that felt as if being accused of doing some kind of free rental scheme or something, as I had returned something small a few weeks prior. This was in exchange for a new more expensive purchase anyway. Also the reality is have PURCHASED MANY thousands at this store. So over the last few years I have purchased practically a recording studios worth of gear between GuitarCenter and a few other stores, which I still have in studio. Many high end tube amps, Kemper, various guitars, flagship electric drums with almost a cars value in components, tons of high end cabling, PAs, various acoustic drum shells, mics, compressors, and more. I am mentioning that as it should be obvious when making such high quantities of expensive purchases over years, there will be at least a few occasions when things don't work out perfectly. Some examples being - One case was when I was sold a used PA for which I was told they could find me the the included case; this also which was listed in the receipt. They couldn't find it, and it was not purchase-able by itself even, so I returned it. Instead bought an upgraded brand new one from the same store anyway. -Or when I purchased 2 cymbal sets asking if I could compare them in my kit to keep the more suited one. I did and followed this by purchasing yet 2 other sets of cymbals the week or so after. I bought additional cymbals and like 3 snares that same week also. Ended keeping all except one cymbal set that was redundant. - Or when I purchased some cheap drum hardware which I was told should fit in the Tama gigbag and could return it if it didn't. It didn't so instead purchased a more expensive yamaha hardware. - FINALLY THIS, the case where i had the disappointing experience for which I am making this review. This time I picked up a small eDrum set for my nephew for Christmas. It was not for my studio so I was a bit more budget conscious. I had asked if I could try a better unit that was out there in the store as a floor model or something but they said they could not connect it, so instead i picked one of their cheaper sets which was already connected for testing. When I got the chance to compare it in my quiet studio environment it did not perform as I had thought.Compared it to my other ekit, and acoustics it lacked. So per the above returned it, and ended buying something over 2x more expensive anyways. This is when the disappointing experience occurred, with the same sales person that had sold me PA that they could not find the included case for in first bullet point. SO THE UNCOMFORTABLE EXPERIENCE WAS when I have bought literally thousands of dollars in equipment from GuitarCenter over time; I was asked in what felt like a condescending tone "why are you returning stuff, aren't we getting you the right stuff", which was annoying when the last time I made a return was due to the fault of the same salesperson selling me an incomplete item (the PA mentioned in one of the bullets). Asking why a product is being returned is fine and makes sense, but why ask in a manner as if implying that I am just returning stuff & not buying anything, when the opposite is true. It was uncomfortable cause it felt embarrassing to be asked as if I was being accused of something. I think I may just switch to purchasing from Sweetwater or something from now on.

Terrible service. No one helps you. The manager has an attitude. I will go out of my way not to come here again.

Not sure if it's because they see me in there so often, but I wasn't even charged for the restringing (other than the purchase of the strings).

I decided to start playing my bass guitar again after being non active for a bunch of years and it needs a little TLC before I can slap my axe . Astoria music is really a mom and pop old school music shop that sells and service many different types of musical instruments and they have music teachers as well if you want your little one to learn an instrument or if you the adult want to start a new hobby . Very nice gent who i assume is the owner , looked over my bass and knew exactly needed to be done . A few parts had to be replaced and I didn't mind cause I do recall how nice my fender bass sounded when it was in peak shape . 3 days later it was ready and the sound is exactly what I remembered after all these years . Glad my friend told me about this music store and would recommend this place 100 percent. 4.5 stars on my yelp meter.

I had been in a couple of places that day while shopping with a friend for an upright. My friend didn't want to go into the Steinway location because she said it would be too expensive. Well, I beg to differ! After spending time with Steve, I learned why a Steinway piano made today verses used and pre-owned is by far the best piano on the market. I was very impressed with the service that he gave and the professionalism that he displayed. The piano I fell in love with sounds amazing, feels great and is just stunning! We had been to three dealers that day. He definitely set himself apart from the other places I visited without being disrespectful of other piano showrooms. The previous all put down Steinway and each other. That's just bad business in my opinion. There's room for everyone in any business. Everyone has a different class of elegance. Some people don't have any! That's the difference! That's my point! I'm now taking piano lessons and will buy a Steinway next year when I move into my new home. You can bet that I'll be back to Paramus to purchase from Steve Salerno. "Five stars all the way! That's why it's a Steinway!"
