GuitarCenter stores are just the best, aren't they? All that stuff ... I went to the Orlando store on Orange Blossom Trail to find out about buying a bass guitar and taking lessons, on Wed 6/5. I wasn't there more than 30 minutes ... looking around by myself, no help from anyone ... when the power in the area failed. The store had to be evacuated. I was able to spend some time outside with one of the employees, Tony. He was a wealth of information on bass guitars ... but with no power in the store, there was no way to demo anything. I returned in the afternoon, Thu 6/6. Tony was busy in the cash register area. I went and looked at the bass guitars on display again. After 20 minutes ... by myself, no help from anyone ... I went to see if Tony could help, if he could answer some more questions, demo a guitar or 2. He said that we could talk between customers, he couldn't leave the register area. I left. I don't want to buy anything if I can't hear it play a bit, see and hear the positives and negatives. I drove to the Winter Park store. They have employees there who answered questions, let me hold a couple guitars, did some playing, scheduled me for a music class. I don't especially care for having to drive almost double the distance to buy an instrument and take music lessons ... but I'd really like to learn to play a bass guitar well and learn to read music. read more

Guitar center has been my nearest music store since I moved to FL, My family and I love to go to music stores but this store is horrible nobody's attending us even if we just wanted to buy a pack of guitar strings and the only person that attended us was Nelson or the guitar technician and he was really nice and he's always attending us and every person that goes there one time he had to look for a guitar we wanted. Arrogant, rude and ADA violations big time here! Went by today to pick up a few things and was met with one of the rudest men I've seen. I asked if they were open and he said that they were until 7. So i got ready to go in and he said I had to wear a mask. I politely told him that I have a medical condition that prevents me from wearing one (which is the truth, not some scam to get my way). He said "too bad, if you don't have one you can't come in." I said, "but sir I have a condition that I cannot wear one and according to the ADA i do not have to disclose my condition but you have to make accommodations for the disabled." He very rudely said "nope we don't ". I informed him it was up to a $70k fine if he prevented the disabled from entering the business and he said "I don't care". The owners of this store and chain should be aware of how their employees are treating people. If you are disabled, avoid this place at all costs because you will be rejected at the door! read more

Brought two guitars in that needed some repair. One of them was a semi hollow body electric that had a grounding problem. Buddy was amazing. I knew he was supposed to leave at 5:30, and showed up at that time to just drop off the guitars there for the next day. He took a look at my acoustic, which just needed a strap button put on, and did that for free in a few seconds. Then for my electric, he decided to start looking at it. 15 minutes later, he had fixed the problem completely, and then ended up not charging me at all. I was super impressed, and will be giving this place as much business as possible. I also thought the atmosphere of the whole place was really fun. Employees were yelling at each other, poking fun at each other and very clearly having fun. It was an environment that I really liked. read more

I decided to call this location to see if they have a particular guitar pedal in stock. He seemed polite at first and put me on hold to see if it was in stock. He replied that it wasn't in stock and I completely understood. He said he could order it to the store to which I replied I wasn't interested in that. I was looking for a guitar pedal that I could pick up today with Christmas coming around corner. He egged me on and said that he can order it in to the store so that HE can receive credit (I guess for his sale). I replied politely with "no thank you" and he immediately hung up on me. I consider myself a polite person and when I was more respectful than the employee I feel as if that's pretty bad. I walked in ready to spend more than 6k on a guitar and I found a guitar that I really like but I was told by an Asian girl that I could only spend 15minutes testing out the guitar. I didn't appreciate what she said to me because I never had this happen to me before. I would spend an hour playing one guitar before I would even buy it. It was not a good experience for me today. Need guitar fixed? COME HERE! I walked in the store with my bass that had been making funny noises - figured I'd need some new pots/pickups, etc. I asked one of the employees to help (Buddy Blues - beard, dark hair) and he took my instrument away like a nurse in the ER. He put in a new battery, usually the first thing you do, even though I had done so before. Still wasn't fixed. He pooped off the cover and told me that I wouldn't need anything new. After spraying the offending pots with some sort of lubricant - voila! The guitar was back to normal. He didn't charge me a cent and I was out of there in less than 15 minutes. The employees were happy and this has made me a loyal customer having bought things here before. When it comes time for my next purchase, I'm going here. Hope this is helpful to someone! read more

This place is a disaster. I have actually given this place a few chances and they always disappoint. The sales people's knowledge of the product is pretty hit or miss. On our most recent trip, one of the department managers couldn't tell us the difference between two items that looked identical, were made by the same manufacturer, but had a different name. That's pretty weak. Plus, it took about 30 minutes to nail down a price for a piece of equipment that was missing a part. We told they couldn't do better on the price, but then that they could price match it, but wait, what about shipping, ok we can't price match it. Oh and did you want a discount for the missing part? We'll give you 5% off, but now we won't price match it......HUH? Talk about confusing. Just tell us your policies and we will decide if we want your incomplete piece of equipment or not. it's not that hard. Finally at the end, after another rude guy "helped" us, our original sales person decided we had been through enough and stopped being a wise-ass. Thanks dude. I guess we'll go with the lesser of two evils. On a positive note: the repair department has always been knowledgeable and friendly. So I guess there's that. read more

Bought a speaker here, but it had a defect. Went to exchange it and Tony insisted on giving me an "unused" floor model. Got the model home and it had a broken foot. Back to GC for another exchange. I showed the receipt and the guy tried to accuse me of returning a different speaker. I explained the situation and it finally worked out. They need to get their act together. The young guy working in the DJ section is just terrible. He has no knowledge, no customer service skills, so why is he getting paid to just stand there? I could work at guitar center if I don't have to have any knowledge of anything! We went in there for a specific item that is pretty popular for DJ-ing equipment and the guy just told us to look around cuz it'll be somewhere on the top shelves. We went to the Guitar Center in Winter Park and they are MILLION times better!! To top it all off, we went to check out at the winter park location and the OBT location forgot to add the credit from their store so it was a huge ordeal to fix it at the better location. Save yourself a crap ton of time and just go to the Winter Park location! Ugh I can't believe I wasted the day after Christmas dealing with this crap. read more

Let me preface this by saying, I have been to this location a handful of times, and this is based on all of those visits. Absolutely terrible service, the staff is not very knowledgable; it's such a shame that this location is one of the newer remodeled locations because I really want to like this location, but I would avoid this place like the plague. The only, and I mean only redeeming quality is that they do carry Music Man guitars, the Petrucci models in particular, but, to show you how terrible this store is, all but 2 of them are playable, the rest unplayable, which I have mentioned to the staff on separate visits, they say they'll get them set up properly, only to go a few days later and see that the string buzz is still there, tremolo out of whack. I mean come on, $2700 guitar and they treat it as if it's some $100 squire. I would only go there to try out there gear, and if you like it but from somewhere else such as Sweetwater or Musicians Friend. read more

They always answer my stupid questions, and let me play everything in the store even if I'm not buying that day. Killing time while waiting to pickup a coworker finishing up a corporate expo I stopped by to look for a new left handed elec guitar. I stopped in the drum section and was greeted quickly by a nice and helpful gentleman. Then I just walked around looking at the pianos and pro sound stuff. Finally made my way to guitar area and was standing around the telecaster wall display scanning for a left handed guitar when I was startled by a booming voice behind me saying "watch out"! I turn around and there is this giant guy, an employee!, with two black pearl looking earrings in each ear and a sh$t eating grin on his face after startling me. He gave a half hearted apology after I turned around. I said I didn't think he was sorry and left the area. Maybe he had genuinely didn't see me and was startled but I believe it was intentional. I was ready to hop on yelp and right a purely positive review until this happened. So a 4 star is now at best a 2 thanks to this jack-hole. read more

Called 15 minutes ahead to check and see if they had a particular amp. They had a floor model, totally fine just wanted to check how a keyboard sounded through it. Got there and waited on the counter 5 minutes and the guy there said hold on one minute, had to ring someone else up. Totally fine. After another 15-20 minutes we walk to the other side of the store and he's helping another person, or should I say flirting. Either way, we went to the other counter. Guy said he'd help us but there was someone that actually bought the amp I wanted to try out, a little shitty but ok I understand. Then he sends a girl that basically just pointed us at the amps and did not know anything about them. So after 30-40 minutes inside I left empty handed...I already wasn't a big fan of guitar center but this one is particularly weak in customer service. I was about to spend upwards of $400 here so idk.... read more

I ordered a used piano online two weeks ago. I received an order confirmation and the assurance that I would receive the item within 3-5 business days. The piano never arrived and I never got a shipping confirmation. Today, I received an email saying they were "we're sorry to see you canceled your order." with no other explanation. I called the main Guitar Center help line and they said this "happens all the time" with used items, that the store had failed to inventory correctly, and that the store had then accidentally sent me the wrong cancelation email. They offered me no recompense or apology for making me wait for two weeks before telling me they didn't have the item (and then lied about why they didn't have it). I passed up other pianos that I could have bought while waiting. I will never use Guitar Center again for any reason and I encourage others to avoid buying used items there or using the website. I could not be more disgusted with the customer service and I feel completely hung out to dry and disrespected. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

Its about the best music store you can find in Central Florida. There aren't many left because people probably go in, try out something, and go buy it online. I love this Guitar Center! Huge store, great selection of equipment, amazing staff. I've worked with a variety of different GC locations over the years but this one is probably my favorite. The staff will spend tons of time helping you pick out just the right equipment or find a gift for other musicians in your life. The repair shop here is also very fast and efficient, and does a great job keeping customers informed about when their gear will be ready for pickup. I often come here just to hang out with the staff and try out different guitars when I'm in the area. Staff never make me feel pressured to buy anything and will jam with you when nobody needs assistance on the floor. Wonderful place to buy equipment and learn from other musicians. read more

I told him that I needed help picking out an amp for my guitar he said he'd have a specialist come help me out and within 60 seconds a friendly guy by the name of buddy showed up...If I'm spelling his name wrong I apologize he was a very friendly man from Lebanon and his customer service skills were five star. I have been to many music stores and I have never felt so welcome these people are very motivated to help you and make sure that you get the right product. I went to shop for a classical guitar after work. I thought I would buy one at a later date and wanted to explore options. I walked out with a guitar, keyboard, speakers and a whole lot of other trinkets. The shopping experience was so much fun. The staff were outstanding and stayed well past closing time to help me without feeling rushed. They are super knowledgeable and energetic. Poor customer service. There were about 4 or 5 employees near the checkout by the acoustic guitar area. One guy looked right at me, while with no customer, and I had to say hi to him to get an arrogant look and a 'hey'. Other employees were more interested in helping customers who, I'm guessing, look more like the stereotype of someone who has money to spend. I suppose I am not goofy looking enough for them to realize I fully intended on making a purchase that day. I had even picked up a used guitar and walked to the register, but was advised that it could not be sold yet. I asked for a new model and he said he would get back to me with color options. That's fine. Except that after he finished with one customer, he looked at me, then turned to a more stereotypical denizen of Hunter's Creek. (Hunter's Creek is a more expensive area in Orlando.) Needless to say, I and my family left without making the purchase and I will not be returning to this location. Thank God for Sweetwater and their amazing service, even after they've gotten your money. read more

I went into this guitar center today looking for a guitar to learn to play. I am an absolute novice when it comes to playing but i have done my homework on products. Not knowing what I wanted needless to say I was there for a very long time. I have read the negative reviews about this store and all I can say is they must have really shaped up as I was blown away with the service. I worked with William and Carlos. Even though they are commission they gladly gave me the pros and cons of every model I was interested in. Since I do not yet play the guitar they even took the time to play every one that I had interest in to show me the differences. I ended up with a fantastic MIM Strat at a fantastic price. Then they went through and played it on ever amp in my price range so I could choose. My only complaint was their lack of stock but they were having a big Presidents' Day sale so in sure that's why. In all I have to say I could not be happier. In fact I have decided I want an acoustic guitar as well and will be returning tomorrow to buy one Thank you Mr. Morris and Mr. Sanchez for your time patience and help!! I've been here twice and felt the customer service has been lackluster both times. During my first visit to this location, I went there looking to purchase a couple of small odds and ends for my drum kit. There were these expensive double bass pedals that i wanted to try and consider purchasing set up on one of the drum kits. The associate informed me that they were out of stock on them and only had the floor model to offer but the manager may discount them down since they are the demo models. He told me sometimes they even go down as low as 30% off for display items. But there was no manager there this particular time to further assist me or to inquire with. So, I came back about a week later. I had those pedals on my mind so I went back looking to speak with a manager about what they would ask for them. It took forever to get the associate there to help me between phone calls and pecking on a computer. The gentleman behind the counter must've been some sort of manger because while I was waiting, he was having discussions with another employee about the schedule and taking time away from work. That is all well and good but couldn't that conversation have waited since there is a customer waiting for attention? And while I'm waiting for help, the employee decides to bang away on a drum kit. The guy behind the counter finally pages the manager...... wait.......paged him again.....waited some more. Finally the manager calls the department associate and only offers me 5% off over the phone to the guy behind the counter. It was such a let down waiting all that time. Nobody tries to negotiate or even acted like they cared whether I bought anything there or not. I had some other items that I needed to purchase but decided to buy them somewhere else where they may appreciate their customers a little more. read more

Had such an unhelpful, annoying conversation with an employee who couldn't wait to get off the phone who had no idea what a "facade" was, or how to spell it (he asked me to spell it and asked me if it was spelled "fasad"), and when I asked if any were available he goes, "...a HUH????" a had no clue what it was...but was the rep for that section of the store (?!). He interrupted me every time I tried to ask a question, and tried to rush me off the phone by saying they didn't have any in the store, but when I asked again after seeing they said they were available in store on their website, he said they did in fact have a few in stock (?!?!!?) but I could just look at the website, because all they had was white. Well, that's what I wanted. So, I asked if he could check how much they were in the store and he hesitated like he wasn't going to do it, sighed, then said, "oooookay, hang on a sec". DUDE what are you doing in a customer service type of job when you have no clue what you're selling, and have no people skills?? I will never ever ever shop here! Get employees who care. OK, so being neither a professional musician Nor a music educator seems to be enough to get anyone's attention at this retail outlet. Haven't shopped there before the staff has been knowledgeable in the past, however the staff this holiday season was filled with new protocols to take money from people by not asking them if they wanted extended warranties but just telling them that that's what they were going to have. Ended up having to come back the next day after having my wife purchase a gift for our granddaughter just to get my educators discount because the professional musician discount has evaporated. (I actually called this in when she was in the store and they still didn't bother to honor it after having honored it numerous times in the past) Exactly what is the incentive for a professional musician to go to their local music store this point with this as the management techniques for people? I think it would be better off everyone is shopped on the Internet at this point. If I could give these folks a zero stars I would, the place is gone too far south to be saved. read more

This place had horrible customer service. First, no one was interested in helping us and when we tracked someone down for help they acted like we were inconveniencing them. Second, we went in for a "sale" where tons of stuff was NOT on sale. They said to get 15% off we had to spend over $199. So, my husband convinced me to let him buy this $175 drum seat. That, plus the other $75 of stuff he "had to have" was well over $199 to get the 15% off, but when we went to check out the guy said to get the discount one item had to be over $199. Unfortunately for us one item was only $175. The guy was totally rude about it and refused to even talk to his manager about it. So I tracked down the manager and he was rude too. I asked him about the "sale" and told him we were above the $199. I also told him the only reason I was considering agreeing to the purchase was for the 15% "sale" discount. He was basically like "too bad; sorry about your luck." So, unfortunately for them, we left. Without buying the stuff. I'd rather my husband buy from some place with better customer service even if it means spending a little bit more. read more
