I agree 100% with Michael. There's no better Guitar Store in the Nation. I say that having been a player for over 2 decades and having lived in Philly, NYC, the Carolinas, Maine, Mass, the Caribbean, and SLC. Nobody sets up a guitar like the Guitar Czar, and nobody has more reasonable prices. Not only this, they will help with any guitar purchase question, whether they are going to get a sale out of it or not. They are good, honest people. I've bought an Orange amp I luckly found on Craigslist after trying one out at their place, and a Les Paul after asking them about comparable deals. I would have no hesitation buying a new Instrument, amp, or anything else from the Guitar Czar. I only wish they were open ALWAYS. Which I realize is totally unreasonable... read more

I love Guitar Czar because they are local and the service is awesome. My kid is in a band and has been begging for a Rickenbacker Bass guitar since he was a small child. I called all around and no one had one in stock except Guitar Czar. The staff showed us a whole bunch of other guitars and took the time to compare each one. We found the right one and the price was actually a little cheaper than I found on the internet. I bought it and my son had the best birthday every. I disagree with the previous poster who said that beginners might feel a little patronized. I am a super beginner (seriously, I know three chords) but the guys at guitar czar treated me exactly the same as the guy who came in who had clearly been playing for years. While I didn't end up getting my guitar through them as I a little impatient on the wait time to get it ordered (which was no fault of theirs, it's just how it goes with distributors), I did go back and get a strap I'd been eyeing, as well as a capo. The people here are friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to go above and beyond for someone who isn't even a customer yet. When I have guitar needs in the future, I am definitely giving them my business and I'm recommending them to all my friends. read more

They have always had what I need and I'm sure if they didn't they would get it for me. It's a bit out of the way from where I live but it's worth the drive. I needed a case for my jumbo acoustic and I went in with the specs and he pulled out a measuring tape to make sure I was getting the right thing. I can't say their prices are any better than the internet but they're certainly not worse and there's something to be said for being able to get what you need same day. They also have a large selection of guitars and amps you don't see other places. Do them and yourself a favor and shop here first. read more

My wife and kids just bought me a new FSR Stratocaster from Guitar Czar for Christmas. Naturally I was delighted and very surprised. In the back of my mind I was thinking that they must have paid much more for it than I would have. Having been in sales for years and I never pay even close to retail. Imagine my surprise when I found out that the guys not only remembered me and which guitar I liked but they also made my family a very good deal on it so that it was affordable for them. No gimmicks, no extra charges, (case, etc.) I would have been happy to pay the same amount if I had purchased it. Most stores and sales people I have come across would have taken advantage of the fact that they had the only one in town and would have insisted on a higher margin sale, plus plus plus. What more can I say. KUDOS!!!! As happy as I am with my new toy I have to say I am even happier to have my family treated this way. I'm retired and had the somewhat crazy idea that I'd like to play the bass guitar. I decided I would first try Guitar Czar since I'd seen the store as long as I could remember. I walked in and an employee/salesman (Wally) promptly dropped what he was doing to see how he could help me. I told him my story and he immediately took me to a bass that would fit me (a Fender Mustang) and was reasonably priced. I was very satisfied with the instrument. I asked what else I would need as a true beginner, and Wally provided guidance about just what I needed (no upscale or unnecessary items). I felt no need to shop around as I normally do. Perhaps the thing that impressed me the most was that at all times not only Wally, but the entire staff, treated me respectfully and without any condescension, which I thought I might get from true professionals talking to a foolish oldster who didn't know what the hell he was doing. I recommend Guitar Czar without hesitation. Five stars. read more

What a great selection of amps and guitars............Two major problems however, the first one being the oriental dude there. How does this guy keep his job there he must be married to the owners daughter! Every time I go in and he happens to be the one available, he more that outright goes into his own way of explaining everything except what I'm asking for. Avoid him to get to the other guys whom are on top everything you made need without a weird confrontation. #2. I had a guitar in for a setup and new string and it to forever! I really like Guitar Czar. I've patronized the store for a few years, as I prefer to support locally-owned brick and mortar businesses. The prices are fairly competitive with respect to Guitar Center, but unlike most Guitar Center locations, there are some really knowledgeable and friendly folks at Guitar Czar. I was in earlier this week just before closing to by some spare cables, and struck up a conversation with Eric. I saw a Rickenbacker 4003 on the wall (Guitar Czar is the area's only Rickenbacker dealer as far as I know), so I thought I'd ask if he knew where I could find replacement (and discontinued for many years) truss rods for a Ric 4001 that I have been trying to restore to a playable condition. I almost fell on the floor when Eric told me that they had a set in stock! He also said he had a replacement thrust plate he'd throw in for free, but it was somewhere in the shop and he said he'd call me when he found it. Sure enough, he called me when he found it and allowed me to come back to the store AFTER CLOSING and pick it up. Think Guitar Center would do something like that? read more

I have had the best experiences at GC! While having interacted "here and there" with several knowledgeable and pleasant employees, I have had the fortune of becoming acquainted with Wally. From the very first introduction and guitar purchase a couple years ago to a recent adjustment/set-up, he unequivocally ranks among my most favorite all time retail experts. In addition to his genuine desire to help anyone, no matter the level or expertise (or lack thereof), he is knowledgeable and honest. I hadn't been in the store for over a year and when he saw me, he immediately remembered my name, what I bought, and asked how I enjoyed the guitar. He is an asset to the shop and I would encourage anyone looking for help with guitars, amps, components, bass guitars (I am pretty certain his specialty is the bass??), etc, to search out Wally...he is anything but a "condescending long-haired rocker guy" except for being a guy with long hair who plays "rock." read more

I purchased a Les Paul Studio and an American Elite Telecaster here and I love this place. It is a small local shop that is run by musicians that are friendly and helpful. You don't wander around wishing someone would help you, but if you just want to browse that's cool too. I just picked up my Les Paul this morning and the set up was perfect. I shop at all the shops. Despite that I always come back to Guitar Czar. They are certainly smarter than anybody at Guitar Center and when push comes to shove they will beat any price at Guitar City. These guys are smart and experienced. You will have to wait for service is the only down side. Otherwise I have always gotten the best selection for the best price. Great shop and very helpful/informative. They won't just agree with you to make a sale. Example: I asked about noiseless p/u. Probably could have sold me a set but first asked me why I thought I needed them and then gave me reasons why I might not want them. Bam. By the way, I always like to support the local shop even if they are priced a little higher on guitars and amps but I haven't found them unwilling or unreasonable to deal. I never write reviews but my experience at this place was bad enough that it pushed me to write one. As someone else mentioned the staff are not very interested in helping customers unless its personal business. There is one particular employee with long hair that is pretty much the biggest turd sandwich I have encountered at a guitar shop . When they do help you it seems to be such a burden and the information they provide is pretty common knowledge and don't have to much input on specific items you ask about. The stuff they carry you can get anywhere and they don't offer much in the way of good used equipment. To be fair I have never had any work done on any of my equipment by their Luthier and I have heard good things. I really would never recommend this place to anyone. read more
