I checked in and she took me to the room I was supposed to have my lessons in. She told me she was going to get my instructor. 10 minutes later she came back and said I wouldn't be starting my lessons. Patty Bernal lacked the attention to detail, respect for my time and money and failed to properly schedule my lessons. Despite the instructor himself telling her he thought he had an appointment at 2, she told him no and he left. I of course asked for a full refund. This is a respect issue. You have to give a damn about your customers. You only get one shot at making a solid first impression and today, patty Bernal absolutely failed to do that due to her laziness. She not only made herself and her upbringing look bad, but also makes the entire school and their instructors look unprofessional. My day starts on time and it ends on time. If you're looking for any sort of music lessons, I encourage you to go somewhere else where you will be shown respect. Fort Myers School of Music is NOT that place!

They increased the prices, took away the trophy incentives, started charging for recitals, and limiting the number of students who can participate. Charging for recitals is the last straw. Recitals are supposed to be an opportunity to celebrate the student and give them a chance to perform. It is customary for all schools. It might be time to make a change.

We got tickets to see Route 66, "a rock 'n road trip" at the MACC, our first time there. I expected a couple of singers playing acoustic guitar... but wow, the production was so much more! (I shouldn't be surprised. Literally everything we've seen with Gulf Coast is first rate.) The Community Center is part of the Unitarian Universalist Church. Seats are pews. And they're comfortable! A host of volunteers helped us from the moment we arrived. Dr. Andrew Kurtz, is the organization's founding music director, president and CEO. Let's not forget, renowned conductor. We've seen the maestro in action at Barbara Mann, and he's nothing short of fantastic. Saturday afternoon, which I think is his day off, Dr. Kurtz introduced the show and explained that they were running a tad late because the drummer was stuck in traffic. (The MACC has a casual and intimate vibe. I like that!) If you're local, you may want to check out Gulf Coast's range of productions. This year alone, there are over 130 programs featuring classical music, jazz, world music, ballet and musical theater. Remember: A little culture never hurt anyone. (Except of course, Abe Lincoln!)

I had a brand new Seymour Duncan YJM speed volume pot that was put in prior that they for whatever reason replaced with a generic piece of crap volume pot which I did not ask them to do, I also brought in my own set of strings for them to use, which they did not, and they used some off brand of strings, which I don't use and charged me for... when I addressed this with the owner Chris he did not respond to any of my emails so I basically just said forget this place and I'll have to redo everything myself which I should've done in the first place... if you're a serious guitar player I'd avoid taking your guitar here and just do the work yourself. If you're looking for just basic guitar picks, a strap and what not maybe this place could be ok for you, but their staff and 'techs' there are totally incompetent with actual guitar maintenance.
