I never saw nor signed a cancelation policy. It wasn't mentioned to me at all!!! If this happened to them, they would want their full refund. UNEXDPECTED emergency is just what it means!! So thankful for Tyler and Ruth at Gulf Coast Mobility! My husband and I haven't been on a vacation in 10 years and we are finely well enough to take a cruise. I require a mobility scooter, which I have of my own, thankfully. Unfortunately, upon arriving to our hotel in the wee am hours, I plugged in my scooter to charge. This afternoon when we awoke, we found the scooter wouldn't budge. We tried all the normal troubleshooting, but finally decided it was the charger that was the problem. Oh no! It's late Saturday evening on Galveston ISLAND, where am I going to find a scooter charger???!!! SUPER stressed that we'd have to miss our our 1.5 year planned vacation, I started calling every where I could think of to get a new charger. Someone at one place recommended a golf cart store. But when I called one golf cart store, that guy actually laughed at me when I explained what I was seeking. I was about to break down in tears after an hour of searching and the end of the day drawing near. When I called Gulf Coast Mobility in desperation, I was resigned to renting a scooter for 8 days. After speaking with Tyler and Ruth and explaining my problem, they agreed to rent me a charger at a highly discounted rate than the whole scooter. What a huge relief and blessing! They offered to bring it to my hotel to drop off, too! They sent an invoice via email so it was all very seamless. I cannot properly express how grateful I am for these two for listening to my problem and anxiety, and finding a fair way to help. Here's the deal - if you're looking to see if Gulf Coast Mobility is a standup company, I'm here to tell you they are the real deal AND have gone above & beyond for me & my family. Hence, I have no doubt they will do the same for you! Our story: With only a day to spare to find a mobility scooter for my 81yo FIL, who is hard of walking long distances w/ mild dementia, before our cruise was to take off after landing in Texas, I looked online & there was availability. However, with few ratings, I wanted to call to confirm they were legit & actually had scooters available, just in case since it was last minute. Tyler professionally answered the phone, patiently took all my questions, worked with his team to get me all squared away & even made sure I got the $35/day rate, which is their deal when renting over 4+ days. It was better than the rate that the cruise ship's offer, so everything was going peachy. He communicated with me on drop off details throughout the day, & promptly showed up & walked my FIL & hubby over the details of charging, folding & moving around in the scooter. Unfortunately, we had an issue with my FIL bringing an ID that was expired, which led to us not being able to board the ship. We're still devastated, but I'm writing this review bc Tyler kindly came back, showed us compassion, & offered to give us a refund. Although I know this review is long, I believe people like Tyler & their small family businesses deserve more business. They are a solid company with compassionate & communicative human beings. If you're looking for someone to take care of your family's accessibility & mobility needs in Galveston or with any of the cruises heading out of the area, give them a call.
