They did a…read morefine job, so a few months later when the coolant light was on and the car was in limp mode, I didn't hesitate to call Mike and Mikes to do the job. I got the car towed 30 min from homewood just to use them. I also had purchased brake pads and rotors for the car and placed them in the trunk for them to put on. They originally quoted me an outrageous price to put the brakes on. When I explained that I was providing the parts, and I would just take it elsewhere, they went down (a little). I was mainly focused on diagnosing the reason why the vehicle was in limp mode and finding the coolant leak (I had been topping off the coolant for months). They called me and said the diagnostic was a thermostat housing, and also said I purchased the wrong size front brake pads, and I will have to pay them for the parts for the correct pads. Fine. I did. They said they would return my pads that were the wrong size and place them in the trunk (they didn't give them back and they aren't in the trunk). They then told me the car was in limp mode because there is an alternator problem. We called the shop that had just repaired the alternator a year ago (it was still in the warranty timeframe) together, and decided on a plan that the other shop would come and pick up the alternator and repair it and deliver it back. I received a call after the brakes and thermostat housing was replaced saying they had no room for my car, and that I would have to drive it myself or pay for a tow to the alternator shop. This is wild after I had just paid them $1000 for a thermostat housing and brake and rotor replacement. The alternator shop was in disbelief that Mike and Mike's asked me to do this, and told me specifically not to drive it over 40mph, do not use any electronics (no radio or headlights, no a/c) and keep it slow and steady. This was a long drive at 6am from Pelham to downtown Birmingham on Highway 31 in the RAIN. Once at the alternator shop, they checked the car, and laughed, "that's an old code from when the alternator was originally repaired, your car is fine". It's been month since I've gotten my vehicle back. The coolant reservoir is completely empty and the leak wasn't repaired like I was told. I am SUPER Disappointed with the quality of work (or lack there of). They seem to try to nickel and dime me a lot, and I am not down for that. For a woman, I have a pretty good basic knowledge of vehicles. I have only driven the car 4 times since I got it back. I will be taking my dollars elsewhere.

Several days later my car wouldn't start and my engine light came on. It turned out to be a key fob battery. When i fi ll up on gas in an area that was potentislly unsafe i had gased up leaving my car running apparently this is whst caused my engine light to come on not to mention a fire hazard. Apparently, static electricity can cause and explosion. In my defense, i am an 80 year old widow living on a pension. In the 40's and 50's not only were there no cell phones, there were no computers. You can see how vulnerable i am. Nic and Brody have listened patiently and provided all the info i needed. Infact i was given a list of all repairs that were needed and the corresponding price. These were divided into those i needed right now, those that coul wait a momth,, and those that could wait longer. They both approached me with respect and kindness which has prompted this review. This is background so you will understand my impression of this busiiness. First of all they were.johnny on the spot. I arrived and they promptly got my Tiguan(my baby) back after Nic and i discussed that she Was a used car and i love her and wanted to take care of her. I had just driven her from the car lot. I wanted to check her out from bumper to bumper. Not only did their mechanics check her out, they provided me wuth a listed in order of priority and cost of each. I was prepared to leave when Nic said to me that the serpentine belt was about to break. I thought Nic was going not going to let me leave wi th it in the condition it was in Nic sent one of his workers t7o go get the belt and put it on. Took an hour including picking up the belt. I got the feeling he was trying to inform me without scaring me. What did i know about serpentine belts.Not a thing! Everyone i encountered behaved that way. I have not felt that way since my husband passed. It was quite touching. Now i learned a new woŕd KeyFob. It has a CR 2032 battery. If the battery is dead so is your car. Lesson # 2. Now being 80 at night when i needed gas if i felt frightened, i would lea e the car running while i gassed up. Did you know that would cause the engine light to come on. Lesson #3. Or that you should never have the car running while gasing up because like static Lesson #4 electricity could cause the car to catch on fire or worse.

I came to the dealership to look at a particular car that had just been traded in. I was assigned…read moresalesman Rob Hurt, and he was incredibly helpful and patient as I explored not only that vehicle but several others on the lot. Before leaving that first visit, I test drove a vehicle that I really liked. Rob explained that I could place a $300 refundable deposit to hold the car while I finalized the insurance and financing details related to my totaled vehicle. Since the deposit was refundable, there was no risk, so I decided to put it down before leaving. Over the next several days, I made a few visits to the dealership to make sure it was truly the right vehicle for me. I even brought my son back so he could test drive it and give it another look. Rob was very patient and accommodating through the entire process. There was one visit where I became quite frustrated and was honestly tempted to walk out. I was simply trying to keep the car on hold and needed to leave so I could get my son home to study for an exam. However, either Mr. Hurt or his manager, Shomari, kept attempting to run my credit and finance the vehicle through their system even after I explained that I would be securing financing through my credit union. That part of the experience felt unnecessarily pressured, and I did express my frustration to Rob. One interesting feature of the process was their high tech system where you go into a private room and complete a virtual meeting to review warranty options and sign paperwork electronically. That was actually a pretty neat and modern experience. During the process, I received an email from Service Director Mr. Bowlin asking how everything was going. I replied honestly and explained the frustration from my most recent visit, but unfortunately I never received a response. I was eventually able to finalize the deal and complete the purchase. Rob was wonderful throughout the entire process, and I truly do not believe he was the one pushing to run my financing through their banks. That was simply the impression I got. Within a week of purchasing the vehicle, the car alerted me that it needed an oil change. I reached out to Rob to ask if the dealership might take care of that in good faith since I had just purchased the vehicle. He checked with the service department and told me they could perform the service, but that I would be charged for it. Personally, I feel that a large, reputable dealership should at minimum ensure the oil is fresh before selling a used vehicle. Shortly after that, Mr. Bowlin emailed again asking what they could have done differently to earn a five star review. I responded and shared the same concerns mentioned here. Unfortunately, I never received a reply to that email either. Overall, the experience was a positive one, largely thanks to Rob's patience and professionalism. A side note worth mentioning (in my opinion) is there are positive affirmations in the restrooms and Christian music playing in the building. My only disappointment was the lack of follow up when I shared concerns and gave the dealership an opportunity to address them. For that reason, I'm leaving four stars instead of five.

I came in for an oil change and the advisor wasn't trying to sell me unnecessary services or anything. He got me in and out. The last time I was in for an oil change the advisor (one I had never worked with) reminded me there was a recall on my truck. I have known about this recall and put it off because I knew how big of a job it was and was afraid someone would to mess it up. I have several years experience working in the service dept of a dealership and my husband has been a mechanic for over 30 years, so we know a little bit about cars to say the least. I decided to move forward with the recall because the parts were in stock and I had a couple of good experiences at this shop. I should have trusted my gut. I had my husband take it in the day of because I knew if anything was done wrong he would be able to spot it. Sure enough, when the truck came out the roof liner looked beyond horrible. It was broken in a couple of areas and there was grease all over my truck. They took the truck back to "clean it" and it came back for a second time still dirty. The service advisor argued with my husband about the liner being broken and told my husband that he was lying and that we brought the truck in dirty and with the broken pillar. I take better care of my cars than most people and I know for a fact my truck was clean and without damage. We requested the service managers help. She did not want to pay her technicians time to redo it. My husband asked her to order us a new liner and he would install it himself. She went ahead and ordered the liner. months later we called to see when our liner would be in and they kept pushing us off. We decided to show up at the dealership one day and requested to speak with the manager. They told us she would be in shortly. We waited for almost 2 hours. She never showed up. The service advisors looked into the part tracking and told us it would be another week. We walked over to the parts department and the employee behind the counter told us that the part had been in for weeks. We brought the roof liner home with us that day and my husband installed it himself. I typically take my truck in for small services, but from now on my husband will be doing everything himself. Step One will never get any more of our business.
