DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR CAR! TLDR; Had no idea what they were doing, overcharged me for it, did unnecessary services and the other mechanics i went to called them idiots. I wouldn't trust them with a simple oil change. I have taken my car to this mechanic multiple times as I live less than a 5 minute drive away from them. My brakes went out on the car so I came to them, like I usually do. They told me that I can buy the part myself and pay for the labor or have them order the part + labor. I decided to order the part myself because it was almost half the price. I made sure that I ordered the correct part, looked up the make, model, VIN #. It came and when he installed it, my car did work but as soon as the speed exceeded 45mph the steering wheel would aggressively shake and would not go any faster. I could not even drive to work on John Mosby. So of course, I took it back to them. They told me that the part was incorrect and I should have gotten it with them. They told me I would need to pay for labor again if I were to order the part with them. Not having any other option and needing a car for my daily life, I agreed and paid for them to order the part + the labor (again). I've gone back and forth with them so many times, each time they said they "fixed my car" the problem persisted. They were becoming upset that I jAlthough the shaking did improve a bit, it was still there. And it wasn't light shaking, i'm talking hard jolts from side to side while driving. I went to 3 other mechanics, they said whatever they did to my car was completely incorrect and uncalled for. On top of that, it was time for my emissions to be renewed and Gum Spring Auto said that I would need to spend around $1000 for it to pass since it couldn't without fixing it. Finally I got some common sense and took the L and went to another mechanic. I took my car to Stone Springs auto and it passed without anything needing to be fixed. They said all I needed was my check engine light to not be on, which it wasn't. These people have no idea what they are doing. I wouldn't trust them with an oil change. Don't come here unless you want to waste your time and money. I have no idea how this business is still running. read more

My husband, father, and I have been going to Gum Spring Auto for over 5 years and have had multiple cars worked on by Mike and the rest of his team. I used to live in the condos right across the street from them in Aldie. At the time I chose them out of convenience, as I could just walk there and back. However, I have now moved to the Broadlands area and will continue to commute to Gum Springs to get my Jeep worked on. They are quick and efficient and really reasonably priced. The staff here know how busy my work schedule can be and even offered to stay late one day to get my oil change done. At first glance it doesn't look like much, especially being next to/connected to a gas station. So glad I listened to my father and gave them a chance. read more

I came in to have an undercarriage wash to remove road salt. I chose the only option on the screen that listed this service, it was the basic exterior wash. The wash is what you'd expect for $10, not great, better than before. I noticed that half of the blowers' intakes were occluded by plastic bags or other trash, so, not ideal. Once I got home after driving on clear roads, I looked underneath the vehicle, it was clear that there was no undercarriage wash performed, all of the salt residue was still there. I tried multiple times that day to contact the car wash using the same number that I had spoken to them prior to coming in to confirm they offered this service, but no one would answer. read more

I have been going to Gum Spring Auto for over seven years. Mike and his crew are phenomenal. They are reputable, trustworthy and I take all my vehicles to them. I used to live in Stone Ridge right next to Gum Spring and found them through a referral. I moved two and a half years ago over an hour away, and when I need anything for my cars, I still take it to Mike. I just had my car towed all the way to him for something that turned out to be simple, but I will not trust anyone else. This review is for the car wash only. Took my minivan there while it's nice out to get all that winter grime off. First, the female working at the beginning to guide you in was too busy on her phone in a FaceTime call to help. I literally had to wait and listen to her finish up the call for her to start the wash up as I was the only customer. Then at the end of the automatic wash, the automated track sped me through so quick that soap was still coming down without being rinsed as the dryers started up. It left huge dirt streaks all over. Then you pull up for a hand dry which I was excited for thinking they could make up for the lack of cleaning the automated wash provided. The worker doing tires was great and took her time but phone call lady used a dirty, wet rag and smeared the remaining soapy water all over the van. I tried to ask her nicely to fix it but there was a significant language barrier and she acted very annoyed that she had to work at all. I was the only customer too! read more

We have taken all of our cars to Mike for several years now and are so happy with our services. When my husband's Kia Optima's engine died, we had it towed to his garage. He checked everything out and it turned out there was a known issue with metal debris killing the engine that should be covered by Kia. I drove way out of my way to try-out this car wash. I tried-out some gas station car washes and they didn't seem to clean or dry my car completely. As I arrived, a pleasant hispanic man assisted with my payment and my change. He soaped-up my car well with a broom and assisted me into the wash. The wash scrubbed the car well and seemed to use good concentrate and wax. The air-dry seemed to dry every angle and body part of my car. Then a nice hispanic woman dried my car where the dryers had missed and she applied tire shine to my tires, and then I tipped her for helping top-off the fresh wash. Overall, I don't think it was worth driving so far for, but definitely pleased with the service and the results. read more

This was the WORST experience by far for a women. Needed tires and rims to get mounted on my car. Mike( the manager) quotes me $168. Then called me later to say it was $406 . Wow! He said I needed sensors and they had all conveniently broken off someone how. I drive a fairly new Mini Cooper . The sensors weren't rusty or old. Then he called to say he couldn't mount the tires and rims because it was missing a part. and I should go to a auto part store to find it. He said he didn't know the name of The part I needed but when I talk to the auto part store try to explain the best I could He told me it would till be $406 because it was my fault he couldn't mount the tires because it was missing a part. Refused to give me my car keys And rims. Needless to Say I ended up calling the police who advised me to file a law suit against the business after he tirelessly spoke to him trying to explain I didn't get the service . Then the sheriff told him it was unlawful to keep my car since no services was rendered. Sheriff did told him he was going to call the magestrate to see if it was even lawful for him to "detain" my vehicle. He got nervous and decided he would't charge me in front of the officer. Coming from Jersey City, I am used to top quality 100% hand wash places that pay very close attention to detail. I can't say I've found such a place in NoVA. Everything here seems to be mobile detailers. Not exaclty what I'm looking for. For the price though (after yelp deal) it was decent.. On Sept. 27, 2021, I dropped off my 2006 Pickup Truck at Gum Spring Auto World to have a Virginia State Safety Inspection performed. Sometime later, I received a phone call from Mike at Gum Spring Auto World letting me know that my vehicle was ready to be picked up, but that it had a non-working reverse light bulb that they attempted to replace but could not replace because they were not able to open the tailgate to gain access to the light fixture from the truck bed. (For security, I have a tonneau cover on the truck bed and keep the tailgate locked - so unlocking the tailgate is the only easy way to access the truck bed). Please note - Mike's phone call was not to inform me about and/or get my permission to do work that I had not requested when I dropped off the vehicle - no, they had already made a unilateral decision to replace the bulb without consulting me first. They had the valet key to the vehicle - so when Mike explained that they couldn't open the tailgate because "it was locked" I just figured maybe the valet key doesn't work in the tailgate (similar to how it doesn't work to unlock the glove box). Full disclosure here: the tailgate handle and latch mechanism on the truck did not work perfectly. As is often the case with aging mechanisms, the tailgate often needed a bit of coaxing (a slight nudge) to open even after pulling the handle to engage the opening mechanism. However, it DID work when I dropped off the vehicle to Gum Spring Auto World ... not perfectly, but certainly not at all! Mike and I had some more conversation - he informed me that they'd passed the vehicle for the safety inspection based on me getting the bulb fixed or fixing it myself. At no point did he give me any indication that the condition of the tailgate handle might be changed from when I dropped the vehicle off, so I picked up the vehicle and paid for the service. It was not until the next evening (Sept.28) that I discovered that the tailgate handle (that previously did indeed engage with the tailgate's internal mechanism to allow one to open the tailgate) had been completely broken and no longer engaged with anything, but rather was just loosely flapping about. To make matters worse, I ALSO had to find a way to get into my now completely locked and enclosed truck bed to gain access to the tailgate's opening mechanism from inside. Fortunately, I was finally able to do that, but in doing so, I almost broke my left thumb! When I called Mike the next morning (Sept. 29) about this, he maintained that the handle "was already broken and needed to be replaced." I informed him that, while I was aware that the handle and tailgate had previously not worked perfectly, the actions of Gum Spring Auto World rendered the handle and tailgate completely inoperative. I also pointed out to him that he had not phoned me for permission to do an unrequested repair. Had he done so I could have warned him about the slight nudge sometimes needed to open the tailgate. After some back and forth with him on the phone, he finally agreed to pay (reimburse me) for the part (handle) if I purchased it on my own. I was surprised, but took him at his word - so I found the part at a local dealer and purchased it ($161.20). When I showed up at Gum Spring Auto World several days later with the receipt for the handle, Mike denied ever agreeing to pay for the part. Instead, again maintaining that the handle was already broken and that they were not responsible. I reminded him, again, that he never consulted me before attempting the repair (that I did not request). So, in fact he did bear some responsibility. I understand that things happen. But when we entrust a business with our property we should NOT expect that property to be returned to us in worse condition than when we left it - which is exactly what happened in this situation. I took Mike at his word ... but when I showed up several days later, he conveniently denied ever agreeing to pay for the part. If, as he maintains, he never said that to me, I'm not quite sure what reason I would have had to show up to his shop that day with the receipt for the handle? What would've been the point - to make him pay for something he never agreed to pay for? Really? read more

It was alright. I went there with a yelp deal on a Sunday morning. The people working that morning didn't understand english well, and they didn't know what to do with my Yelp certificate. After 15 minutes, of me and the nice lady trying to go back and forth, she finally called someone who explained to them the deal. So they vacuumed my car, and then told me to drive it through the wash. Thought that was odd since other full service car wash places usually have me jump out of the car at the beginning, and then I get back in on the other side once it's finished. Car was fine, but since there was only one guy that morning doing the vacuuming and the drying, it took much longer than it needed to. Probably won't be back. read more

The people that work at the car wash Are dedicated to service and do a helluva good job at PRE-wash and wipe down /tire dressing. Remember to bring cash for the Tip! The pricing is very good if you use their website coupons. The mechanics at the shop on the property are really friendly and they saved my bacon when I pulled up with a huge nail in my tire. I went here for a car wash and I was really impressed with the way they spent time on cleaning the interior. They spent way more time cleaning the interior of my car than i expected them to. Overall I am very satisfied and will definitely be going there again. Only negative thing I found out is that I wasn't able to find a customer waiting area. In short they put a foot long scratch along the top of my roof just past the antenna and 3 4-inch scratches on the rear driver side corner with their machine. Buyer beware before taking your vehicle here. Full details below. I went there with my mother for a car wash. I had gotten my new car Monday 11/20/17. I was mainly looking to get my exterior windows and mirrors cleaned. However, I ended up purchasing the deluxe car wash since that was a better deal. It was $17 plus $2 dollars more since it was an SUV bringing the total to $19 dollars. After going through the machine wash my windows were still dirty. There was a smudge stain on the back window that still had not gone away as well as around the edges and still smudges around the front windshield. We pulled around to the interior vacuum and window cleaning guy. We were telling him to clean the windows better and told him to get the manager since it was not being done well. Then I saw scratches on my brand new SUV. Three four inch scratches on the driver side rear corner and one across the back of the roof just past the antenna a foot long. The manager, who just goes by Kim, I asked for his full name and he refused to give it, said the reason for the scratches were because birds had scratched my car and they do not clean the outer edges of the windows. To be clear birds did not scratch my car, his machine did. We asked for a refund and he refused. He also said feel free to call the police if you think this is stealing. After that, we decided it was best to leave. We won't be coming back here again. I'll be going back to the auto dealership and see what they can do to help me get rid of the scratches otherwise I might have to go through my insurance. I was coming from Maryland and I was looking to purchase a used car from someone nearby. I hired this place to inspect the car before I made an offer. After Gum Spring looked the car over, I was told the car was in good shape but it probably needed new brake pads. With that advice, I purchased the car. When I had the car inspected for Maryland, the Maryland mechanic told me there was a problem with the exhaust system/muffler. The Maryland mechanic also found a problem with the right front wheel suspension. None of these things were mentioned by Gum Spring Auto Care after they looked over the car. This lack of information cost me over $700 in additional costs, and would have made me think twice before purchasing the car. read more

Save your money. It isn't any better than any other car wash you drive through. It is expensive for what you get. I bought a Groupon for 6 car washes. I didn't realize that they expired in about 3 months. I forgot about them in my wallet and now the company won't give me anything for the unused car washes. Farther away than I thought on route 50. The checkin kiosk didn't have anywhere to put in the Yelp code so I pressed the help button then after no one came out, I honked my horn (a few times waiting a minute in between) Once 3 cars lined up behind me, two people came out to help me. I guess it took a line of potential business to get people out of the building. Turns out there is no way to enter the code, they open the gate with their key and just directed my car to the carwash entrance. Then the interior vacuum was also a problem. I parked where the vacuums were and again no one was there to help me, so I took the vacuum hose and helped myself. Halfway through vacuuming my car two people came out again and took over vacuuming and washing the windows and wiping down the interior surfaces of my car. It took about 45 minutes to get my car washed and vacuumed and most of that was waiting around. I'm hoping it was because I came on a Sunday that they were short staffed. Though I didn't see anyone else who was being helped but me, so maybe the two staff members who helped me were the only ones working that day. read more

The Titan needed a cleaning and seen that this place is reasonably priced. I paid $10.00 more getting it done in Falls Church, same type of car wash. Thursday late afternoon and I was the only one in the bay. I noticed one guy doing another vehicle's interior. I pulled up to the entrance and one gentleman did the tires with wheel cleaner and pressure wash. The dusty beast traveled through the tunnel and then I pulled around to where I seen the gentleman vacuuming earlier. My interior hadn't been cleaned in months and was long over due. The Stone Ridge car wash offered a "buy 10 car washes, get 1 free" promotion. Apparently they have since stopped this promotion. However, I had been paying for car washes up through May 2014 and they continued to punch my ticket. When I hit my 10th paid car wash, they refused to honor my free car wash and said they stopped the promotion "last year". I have been using this gas station and car wash exclusively since February 2012. I tip their car wash attendants every time I use the car wash. They have lost a loyal, generous customer for life over a simple case of terrible customer service. If you stop a promotion, that's fine. But you should honor the last remaining free car wash coupons until they are gone. read more

I decided to give this place a try with the car wash using the Groupon deal that I bought. The Groupon deal was expired but you still can use the amount that you pay for. This amount will never expired. I showed him the coupon and have explained to him so many times and the guy still does not understand. He even said that he was the manager. What a joke.
