Just 1km away from our farm house, Gus O'Connor's is the perfect pub to get out of the cold rain and enjoy warm authentic Irish good. I had the Guinness and Beef stew which eead absolutely phenomenal. Perfectly cooked beef and sure to fill you up! The Irish coffee was the only thing I would complain about. Generally liked it here when we stopped by with a tour going to the Cliffs of Moher in September 15'. It's hard to believe this establishment has been in business for almost two-hundred years. They don't take CC's unless you spend a certain amount, so be prepared to use cash. Also, you have to pay when you order, which is a little weird but whatever. The food, itself, was okay. The bread and butter were delicious. My Irish stew was so-so. The meat was kinda tough, but the broth and veggies were good. Also, the liquor was not that expensive; I think I got a double Jameson for like 5 Euro. Would visit again and order something else. read more

Really sad our second time coming back to this place wasn't like the first. My husband and I got married in Doolin 3 years ago and we returned for our anniversary. We must have just had newly wed attention the first time around because when we returned we got ignored the whole time. The only time anyone came to our table was the hostess constantly pulling away things like salt and pepper shakers, ketchup, sugars and never even spoke to us when she came by. We watched a table close by get attention, order taken by a server, checked on and talked to constantly..guess they were special. We didn't even know we had to go to the bar to order. The people next to us had to tell us to go to the bar to order, just something that would be nice to mention to customers when you seat them since the entire place is filled with tourists not familiar with the way it works maybe. Food is really good here though. We will obviously have to come back every time we travel to this area, just can't expect it to be as good as the first time. read more

Had dinner here last Saturday night and it was wonderful! The owner of the B&B we were staying at suggested we go here early and get a good table near where the music would be playing, so we did. We got there around 7:45 and ordered dinner. I had the guinness and beef stew and it was excellent (and I'm generally not a big fan of stew, but I wanted to try something different). After dinner we ordered drinks and waited for the music to start. The place was really great-looking. Like all good Irish pubs, everything was wood. All the tables were old sewing tables, which definitely added a lot of character to the space. The music started at 9:30. There was a group of five musicians (two accordions, one fiddle, one guitar, and one banjo/bouzouki/singer) and they were excellent! There is nothing better than listening to excellent musicians who absolutely love what they do! The place had a good mix of locals and tourists and I would love to go back there again! read more

Decent pub fare. Live, traditional music nightly. Very, very touristy.

Great pub with tasteful dishes. The portions were sufficient and filling. I would recommend this restaurant when in the area of doolin. The staff was friendly and the food came out very quickly. You will not be disappointed with this pub! read more

Completely crowded with tourists during summer season. Many children, long waiting times for a table & food. If you want an adequate Irish Pub feeling go somewhere else! The food was quite good though. read more

What a cool place! We were looking for a local pub that offered music. We arrived around 5:30 and enjoyed a few Paddys on the rocks. The music began with 4 men with various instruments. After enjoying a healthy serving of mussels, my husband and I turned around and then there were 6 musicians just hanging in a booth playing beautiful music! The locals were so friendly and we hung out for a while. Love that everyone is welcome... Kids, families guys and chicks! A wonderful evening! The service was excellent! read more

The food was incredible! The staff was kind and helpful to the nth degree. It is a tad touristy, but there is not a lot of choice in the town. We stayed at a bed and breakfast that was in in walking distance and had lunch and dinner there. Both meals were hot and delicious! The apple crumble really topped off our meal. read more

We went to Gus O'Connor's for dinner one night after a long day of driving. Granted, this is a pub, so expectations weren't very high, and overall the food was about average compared to what we experience with other pubs and taverns in Kerry. We ordered the burger (don't bother) and fish and chips. The fish and chips were passable, but not among the top tier we had in Ireland and London. The burger was WAY overcooked as seems to be the general custom in the UK and Ireland -- Guys : well done is WAY past edible for a burger. Very dry... On the positive side, there was live music and it was delightful. Be advised, you need to place your food order at the bar along with your drink order. Don't wait for the servers because they will not come by to take your order. read more

Lovely lunch spot. Food is fresh and tasty, main courses come with surprisingly nice fresh salad with creative dressing. Pub food that is healthy too. Prompt service, caring staff. Was recommended this pub while traveling back to Galway from the Cliffs of Moher. So glad we stopped! This pub is like something you see out of the movies. I really felt like I got a true Irish experience after spending a few hours here. Everyone was very friendly and attentive, and the food was great! As a vegetarian, I often have trouble finding things I can eat. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I have had zero issues during my stay in Ireland, and this pub didn't disappoint. The roasted vegetable tart paired with a lovely salad and chips did the trick. From the fireplace to the beautiful wood work, I will cherish my experience in this authentic pub forever. read more

Nice pub. A bit "pub in a box"-y and overrun by tourists during the summer months, but pleasant all the same. Recommended.

At dinner time this place is packed. You need to find your own seats, then order at the bar which may be blocked by the drinking crowd. Food is adequate. To us it was convenient. Only stayed one night so can't suggest alternatives, but you might want to try. Music was underwhelming that night, much better in Dingle. read more
