First time trying Gus'! A friend and I decided to try it out and we were not overwhelmed. It was a little pricey but the amount of food you get is maybe the cause for high prices. To add onion rings as a side was $5! I went with the included chips and they were not great. Tasted like they were made yesterday. Gyro sandwich was very good and my friend had the rueben! We dined in for dinner at Gus's Diner and had an okay experience. It was the lasagna for my husband and the bayou pasta with fettuccine pasta and a beer for me. All pasta dishes come with bread and a side salad. For dessert we split a molten lava cake with ice cream and I had a glass of prosecco. The pasta dishes and service were just okay. This spot also serves breakfast so I may return to check that out next time. read more

We arrived at 5:45 and was told there was a 30 minute wait. Around 6:15, we were seated but were not given menus or silverware. 10ish minutes went by and no one had stopped by to take our drink order so we had to flag someone down. Our waitress took our drinks and food order but told us there were no clean glasses so we would have to wait until they were cleaned. Our food came out around 7:15 and is really good. After being there for 2 hours, I have to say the food was good but due to lack of staff, I'm hesitant to go back. We're not local so I wish them the best. read more

We had Gus's Diner breakfast for the first time today and it was great. We wanted a change from the usual breakfast spots in Roanoke Rapids and I'm glad we stopped in! The service was amazing, the food was delicious, and the staff were all so friendly. We brought my 5 year old and she was greeted at the door with all smiles and offered coloring books and crayons. I'm thankful that we have a family friendly spot in the area! Also- this is a newer restaurant in an area that is mostly seasonal so please give some grace. Fabulous food, great service and a friendly atmosphere. I enjoyed one of the daily specials, fish & chips w/shrimp. It was prepared to perfection after I ordered. My wife had the "cranky yankee" sandwich with onion rings. Her sandwich was delicious, the onion rings were cooked fresh and some of the best I've ever had. We love Gus's diner. We go once every couple of weeks. Service is great and the food is always good. I love being able to get a platter of Greek food in the middle of a small lake town!!! For months we waited for this diner to open up and have a good breakfast! Finally got there, the service was good. Looked at the menu, ordered a spinach and feta omelet, bacon, home fries, toast and coffee. My husband had a cheese omelet and everything else that I had. this came to $50.73. The toast was 1 slice at $2.00. Never, never have I spent $50.00 on a breakfast. When I looked at the menu again, I did see the menu had no prices. (Shame on me for not noticing it at first) The omelet was good, but the rest of it was not. This was the first and last time for breakfast at Gus's Diner. Sadly, I had hoped for something amazing but was disappointed. The menu is slim and they rely on specials. Specials, unfortunately the one I selected was not good at all. Though a Greek spot, some American traditional would not hurt. On the bright side the wait staff is fantastic.
