Because the installer Tomlinson sent to my home was too lazy to use a ladder, he hung over the roof line with a cordless drill and screwed in the gutter hangers bolts in the wrong places, missing the rafters. An ugly job that depreciated the value of my home. Tomlinson approved the damage check to me but it was never mailed or dropped off. I have written proof that they promised to pay me. I spoke with Robert who was supposed to get me the check. He said he would contact Scott even though he no longer works there. Scott never called me and his office employee, Rochelle, won't return my phone calls. I will have to sue him and his company in small claims court. Apparently, Tomlinson has a fake business address of 1855 E Lanark St., Suite 100, Meridian, ID 83642. That's what appears in a Google search. I went there to get my check a couple of weeks ago and was told by the current business that Idaho Custom Rain Gutters hasn't been there in six months. I was told that Tomlinson paid them to use the Meridian address for mailing purposes but is running the business out of his home in Nampa.

But it's been a few years and it was time to have the rain gutters, rain chain, and some other parts looked at. Every time I heard a creak, saw a leak, or watched my rain chain fail to do its job I just dreaded the idea of a $500 trip to Home Depot just for a quick fix. Hunter and I got in touch and set up a date and time for a quick inspection, which worked with my odd schedule as I have a lot going on with work/life, and he took the time to take note of my concerns regarding my rain gutters. Dale came by to inspect the property and was very polite, patient, and progressional. Although the whole crew I met were fantastic, Dale was really the one who sealed the deal as he did his best to work within my budget, took serious note of immediate issues and explained things without technobabble or trying to upsell me. He was very courteous and made me feel like a valued customer and member of the community instead of type of sales people looking to nickel and dime folks. My wife and I were emailed the final proposal which was still in our budget so we agreed to do business. Cody and Donovan were the team that came to do the job and they were very respectful to my requests as I was working from home. Aside from some light drilling and hammering the noise was not a bother. They walked with my around my property to make sure all looked good and to show me what was cleaned out, replaced, or repaired. Everything looks shiny and new. Although it has not rained yet I'm confident they did a great job, all I'll update my review with some pics once I see all the new parts in action. It occurred to me to try a gutter company. I read several good reviews about Gutter Done and gave them a call. They responded right away. Andrew came out and he knew exactly how to modify the gutter set-up so water run-off could be directed right into the gutter and wouldn't get to the fascia. It was simple and very inexpensive. Since he was there and bright as could be I told him the house had ice-dam issues during snowmageddon before we bought the house. I mean, if it happened once... I asked him if he had any ideas to deal with water settling between roof peaks on the north side where the sun never touched it - all a formula for future ice-dams I feared. He points up at the higher roof and said - add a gutter. He suggested the lack of one was letting the precip run right down to where the ice-dam had formed. Made sense that a gutter above would hold it away from wall where the lower roof met it. Such peace of mind for such a low price - everything well under $500. It's the reason why I'm almost 60 and I'm only on my second toaster. I have lived in my home since 1990. During that time, I have dealt with several different roofing companies because I live in a high wind area that results in one side of my home occasionally losing shingles during big wind storms. As my roof got older, every roofing company that came out, gave me a hard sell sales pitch about the need to replace my roof immediately. Based simply on the age of my roof, I knew the time was coming, so I began doing my research. The next time I lost a couple of shingles, I called MountainView roofing because they were one of the companies I was considering hiring for my roof replacement. Adam, who I later learned, was one of the owners of the business, came out. He was very knowledgeable. Unlike the other roofers, he did not give me a sales pitch. I asked him what he thought about the condition of my roof. He told me I had a couple of years life left on it. Adam left a few extra shingles in my garage for the next time some blew off. About a year later, a few did, and Adam came out to replace them. He wouldn't charge me for the work, stating that he lived nearby, and it was just a couple of shingles. It was then that I asked Adam for an estimate on my roof replacement. I also asked him some questions about his crew. I work in a field where a lot of my clients over the years have struggled with substance abuse issues. While I have a lot of compassion for anyone, dealing with that, I did not want someone who wasn't 100% sober, or not performing at their best for ANY reason, working on my roof. It's simply too expensive a project to risk haphazard quality work. I shared my concerns with Adam, who gave me reassurance that he works with a small, tight crew, that he knows well, none of who even drink or smoke. He also said that he himself would be there to oversee the work. Adam spent time educating me about roof replacement options, as well as the process. He recommended a higher quality architectural shingle, and said because I was in a high wind area, he would do 7 nails per shingle. I later learned 4 roofing nails per shingle is the norm, but if you live in a high wind area, 6 nails is recommended. He also intended to hand hammer in the nails, not use a nail gun. The day, Adam and his crew came out to put on my new roof, I work from home because I had heard horror stories about how noisy it could be, and was concerned about how my cats would handle it. Adam and his crew made putting on my new roof as positive experience as it could possibly be. They were on time, polite and respectful of me and the neighbors, and did an excellent job of cleaning up afterwards. Adam even did a couple of extras, no charge. He noticed there were a couple areas on my roof where leaves tend to build up. He put some kind of metal in the corner of those eaves to help leaves slide down once they hit that part of the roof. I'm not sure what they're called, but they weren't on the original estimate, and I was not charged for them. I was beyond impressed by the quality of work in customer service. While the flooring was being installed I questioned why all the cross seams were all even, in other words not staggered, the reply was that this way the way the boards came. Next to my bathtub and the exit to the garage 3/16" areas (strips) were left without flooring-just gaps which I had to fill and fix myself. They made a mess cutting the wood and made no attempt at any cleanup. I had to pay them to install new baseboards even though they destroyed what was there. Their work in installing the baseboards was lousy. They did not caulk the nail holes and they did not use a sponge or anything to remove the caulk they got all over the walls. Some of baseboard cuts and installation were so sloppy that I have had to pay to have them redone. Why would I do that. When I called them back to fix the things I was aware of I was told that if they came back they would charge me! This company is a young man 22-24 years old who this thinks he knows everything and his assistant, a more patient person but the one who advised me I would be charged for further service AKA completing the job. Last but not least I have discovered (by a pro contractor) that the door thresh holds were improperly installed so that the flooring would not float as it should.
