I managed to get a weekday lunch reservation for one at 2:30pm, and snagged a table by the window with a great view of the main dining room. For me, Gymkhana absolutely lived up to the hype. Although they offer a set lunch menu, I went à la carte to try exactly what I wanted: Chicken Butter Masala, an Indian Onion & Green Chilli Salad, and Garlic Naan (which I appreciated they offer in single pieces). For drinks, I started with their signature Masala Margarita, paired the meal with a Salty Masala Lassi, and finished with a Masala Chai. It was more food than I usually eat, but it was too good not to finish. Every dish was outstanding--bold, layered flavors with distinct character. It really highlighted how exceptional Indian cuisine can be. The drinks had creative twists and complemented the food beautifully. Service was warm, attentive, and efficient without ever feeling formal or rushed. I could tell the staff would gladly accommodate special requests if needed. It was all very deserving of its two Michelin stars. Total bill: GBP 94 including drinks, service, etc. One tip for first-time visitors: go easy on the rice and bread. It was my third time at Gymkhana and I think the first after it got its second star. 3/3 times, I left the restaurant thinking I just had one of the best meals of my life. The food is so delicious and full of flavors. If you can't handle spicy, you might struggle with some dishes but even then I think its still worth trying. Besides the most popular dishes like the biryani and butter chicken, the dal maharani, alo chaat and the gol guppas are must tries. I like the dark, cozy atmosphere which isn't too loud and also like that the restaurant is divided into smaller rooms so that it isn't a ton of people eating in a massive space. Service is also great, no complaints. My only regret is not having any interest in Indian food when I was living in London as I would have dined here once a month at least. I just don't know if the food is worth $300 for two ppl but you pay for you get. We tried all the non-hunted foods and I would want to come back but preferably for the butter chicken only. The 100 GBP requirement per person doesn't make sense if you do not drink or eat too much then it's tough to even get there. I would try to go there for lunch and just get the butter chicken. As someone who has been to India before, Gymkhana was some of the best Indian food that I ever had. I recommend making reservation ahead of time and going in for the lunch tasting menu. I went on a Friday and the restaurant was fully booked. Keep in mind that with lunch, you can save a few pounds especially compared to dinner. Additionally, the service and ambiance were all excellent with my waiter doing a wonderful job walking me through the menu. A pro tip: definitely order some chopped chilis on the side if you care to add some extra spice. I will for sure be back to Gymkhana the next time I am in London. We were lucky enough to secure a lunch reservation and decided to do their lunch menu. It was definitely a feast since we were able to try different items so I would definitely arrive hungry. If you're dining with someone, definitely take advantage of the lunch menu and order all different items so you have a variety of dishes to try. We did arrive about 20 minutes early but they were able to seat us right away. The portions were quite large for us that we ended up taking boxes back to our hotel. I definitely recommend coming here for lunch because 1) you don't need to put down 100/per person deposit and 2) lunch menu serves large portions and there's a option to order a la carte as well!! One of my top favorite meals of all time, not just in London! My bf was able to snag a reservation and we were so excited to eat here. The interior of the restaurant is really unique and intimate, and the servers were all so nice. We didn't do the set menu, and ordered a la cart. Chicken Butter Masala - the creamiest, most flavorful masala ever. It also comes with 3 types of naan, my favorite is the first one. Chicken Tikka - really tender chicken. Like quite possibly the tenderest I've ever had. Patiala Fried Chicken - our server warned us it is spicy, I thought it was just ok but the heat does build. It's so good tho! I think about this from time to time. My bf cannot handle spice and did think this was too spicy, but also thought it was good. This was my first time dining at a Michelin star restaurant and it was one of the best meals of my life. I can see why they have 2 Michelin stars. The interior is intimate and beautiful. Everything is a nod to British Imperialism in India from the decor to the menu. The staff were absolutely incredible. Instead of a dedicated server, everyone served us as they saw a need. They gave us fresh plates, swept up crumbs, and refilled water constantly. It was truly exceptional. To drink, I got the Pegu Club, which featured gin, lime, grapefruit, Campari, and Sabo hops. It was sweet, tart, and perfectly balanced. We did the lunch menu. We started off with the pappadam selection which was served with a variety of chutneys. Each was excellent. I especially loved the mint and prawn chutneys. They also brought out a chick pea potato dish to share that was delicious. Next, I had the Kasoori chicken tikka, which was incredibly herbaceous and so tender. It was served with a delightful sweet yogurt that paired perfectly. Next, I enjoyed the Goan prawn curry, which had huge tender prawns and a thick coconut curry sauce. I enjoyed it with an assortment of other dishes ordered by people at my table and everything was lovely. At the end of the meal. They brought out these pretty sweets. A restaurant that ruins other restaurants (in the best way) I went to Gymkhana last year, and honestly, I haven't felt the same about any other high-end restaurant since. It set the bar way too high. Gymkhana is one of those rare places that's as good as everyone says. This two-Michelin-star spot was the most anticipated dinner of my entire trip. We started with the gol guppas which are crispy shells filled with tangy, spicy water. Basically India's version of flavor fireworks. The kid goat methi keema is one of their most iconic bites. The rich aromatic minced goat is simmered with fenugreek leaves until the flavors melt together. You scoop it up with soft buttered pao buns and tangy pickled onions. But the tandoori masala lamb chops are the holy grail. If you order one dish it has to be this. They're perfectly charred, coated in fragrant spices, and paired with a sweet walnut chutney. I've never had lamb chops this tender. I would recommend branching out from the butter chicken and going for the goan prawn curry. We went to Gymkhana in Mayfair for their lunch special, and it was hands-down one of the best dining experiences I've had in London. The set menu was such a great value for the quality -- every course was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. From the perfectly spiced starters to the rich, aromatic mains, each dish felt like a refined twist on Indian classics. The tandoori lamb chops were cooked to perfection, and the accompanying chutneys added the perfect burst of brightness. We let the restaurant know it was my birthday and they made it a point to bring out some sweets and gave me a post card as well as I am from America! This is actually the second time we went there .. the first time I had gotten a cocktail that I ended up not liking much and hadn't touched the drink. The host came over and asked me if something was wrong with the drink and I let him know, not exactly I just didn't like the taste. He was so generous and removed it form the final bill. This restaurant is an absolute gem in London's dinning scene. You would think that since it is a Michelin-starred restaurant the dishes would be fancy or pompous but instead they effortlessly combine traditional flavors in a creative delicious way. Every dish carefully crafted and presented. Dishes like the bread sample, papadam and panipuri are great to start with. The panipuri was my absolute favorite! The taste of those crunchy little pillows with the sauce inside was an explosion in your mouth. We also had the lamb chops, butter chicken, aloo chaat and Jumbo shrimp. We came to this highly-recommended restaurant expecting the very best and our expectations were well-exceeded! We enjoyed their spectacular holiday tasting menu, which featured a combination of traditional "tried and true" Indian dishes, as well as several items that were more inventive and less common at typical Indian places. Gymkhana had utterly top-notch service! Waters were kept full, napkins were refreshed, tables were spruced, and we never once felt like we "needed" something because everything was always either there or offered proactively. I'd not felt so pampered in a while. The wine list here is marvelous and the sommelier on site was a dream at recommending glasses or bottles for the specific dishes we had. My only gripe is that a £300 bottle was recommended well before a £70 bottle was even mentioned... so a very minor gripe about expensive upselling, but that pales in comparison to the excellent experience here overall. After hearing so much about London's Indian food scene, I was really excited to try out some well-known Michelin star restaurants like Gymkhana. Although it was a bit hard to find reservations for the times that I wanted, I started checking pretty early and after looking a couple times I was able to book a spot for lunch around when they opened. The interior has a classy vibe to it and the service was very good. I decided to go with the pre-fixe lunch menu, which included a Pappadum Selection, Aloo Chaat, Goan Cafreal Salmon Tikka, and Goan Prawn Curry. Just right off the bat, this is a LOT of food for one person and you will most likely be stuffed afterwards (can't complain about not getting enough though). The pappadum selection was excellent, with a great selection of sauces to pair with it. The aloo chaat had a great crispy texture to it which went well with the tamarind sauce it was mixed with, definitely among some of the best that I've had. The Salmon Tikka was also excellent, as it was quite tender and juicy as you cut it open. For the Goan Prawn curry, this is served with Saag Makai, Dal Lasooni, and the option of either Naan or rice. All the dishes here were great, as the prawns had a lot of flavor with the curry and the Saag Makai was also top-tier with the spinach. Overall, I can see why this restaurant has its reputation since the food here is excellent. Definitely recommend trying to get a reservation if you're able to! read more

Stand outs include the aloo chaat (both my friend and I agreed it was our favorite by far), chicken tikka (very tender and flavorful), and the butter chicken with bread basket. Both appetizers were amazing! The Achari Paneer Tikka with Corn Chaat was unlike anything I've had before and the Chicken Tikka was literally the best piece of chicken I've ever had. High quality, traditional yet innovative flavors, and unbelievably addicting. This was my favorite bite. As for entrees, The Chicken Butter Masala was a close second. I love that it's a mix of butter chicken and chicken tikka masala in one dish. It was buttery, tomatoey, and delicately balanced with spices. I think they use the same recipe for the chicken as the Chicken Tikka appetizer because it was also outstanding. The Bread Basket & Basmati Rice were fluffy, fresh, and paired well with the entrees. I'm so glad I decided to get dessert because this Saffron Pistachio Kulfi Falooda is probably the best I will ever have. It was unbelievably fragrant, subtly sweet, and just the right bite to end the meal with. Both drinks were beautiful and the Pearl of India has to be one of the best non-alcoholic drinks I've ever had. The combination of passionfruit and Jasmine pearl tea was light, tropical, and refreshing. I could've drank 4 of them in 1 sitting. All in all, it was an incredible experience. I wouldn't recommend doing the prix fixe again; I'd probably just order the dishes i wanted...and get an extra chicken butter masala to go. The goat keema pau and the paneer with corn were both delicious, i really loved the paneer with corn to start while my wife loved the Aloo chaat. But while it sounds simple/classic, the star of the meal for me was the chicken butter masala. It was rich with flavor of course but the unique smokiness to not just the chicken but the smokiness that came through the curry sauce directly was incredible. Our reservation was at 10pm so we could only order a la carte, as opposed to the prefixed menu, but this was truly a blessing in disguise. Come hungry and bring heartburn medications for after. Definitely get the aloo chaat (our favorite dish) and tikka masala chicken. I also loved the butter chicken. Slightly less notable dishes were the eggplant (Khatta Meetha Baingan) and the black lentils (Dal Maharani), but honestly they were still good just maybe less unique and mind-blowing compared to the other dishes. Bread basket with naan is pretty standard. We also got a side of rice for the butter chicken. The cocktails were solid and with an Indian twist. The mango lassi was also great. The sorbets were also very flavorful and good, but nothing too unique. We left extremely, extremely full but very happy indeed. Next time I'd probably get the aloo chaat, maaaybe try the samosas, chicken tikka, and the butter chicken. I wouldn't get as many dishes as they recommended. They also own the cocktail bar next door, called 42. It is super classy and delicious with Indian fusion cocktails as well. You typically need reservations here as well but maybe could line them back to back if you wanted to try both. Last thing, I had no idea but at Harrods in the restaurant area they also have a gymkhana deli counter-looking area (for a lack of what else to call it) for anyone who couldn't get into the restaurant but wanted to try some of their food (I'm sure it's not as good, but desperate times call for desperate measures). read more

I came for the lunch set for $65 and it was very well worth the money. I got a 12pm lunch slot after setting an alert via sevenrooms and got a reservation the day of. It was definitely too much food for one person as I believe they give the same portion of pappadum and naan as if there were two people. Pappadum came was a delicious selection of chutney that all ranged spicy, salty, and sweet. I kept my chutney to pair with the rest of my meal as well. Aloo Chaat was the highlight of this meal for me. It had crispy potatoes and chickpeas underneath and bed a creamy sauce. It was so perfectly balanced and had great textures. For the other courses, I opted for the chicken Tikka and chicken butter masala. I didn't love the chicken tikka as it tasted overly salted but it went well with the chutney. The chicken butter masala was good but to me it wasn't anything special or outstanding. It does come with saag makai which is a spinach based dish and dal Pasolini which contains corn and lentils. Overall, it was a great introduction to this two Michelins star restaurant but I don't think anything blew me away other than the aloo chaat. Great value though! read more
