Probably our top meal in London. Before I talk about the food, I want to highlight excellent service. One of our group has a tomato allergy and we weren't sure how much of a selection he would have. The waitress went back and redlined the menu to show what he could have, what he couldn't, and what they might be able to alter. Super nice and it didn't take more than a few minutes. As for the food, a-maz-ing Indian. I recommend their prawn special - not too spicy but very flavor forward. The naan was a nice side to order as well. This location is fairly big with seating on the main floor, downstairs, and outside in a cover lounge area. We had a reservation, although they probably could have handled us if we didn't. That said, it was a busy weekend and the place looked fairly full by the time we left, so maybe grab a reservation. Enjoy! read more

We came here on a Friday night after looking at yelp reviews. It was close to our hotel and there was a little bit of a wait. So we sat at the bar. My dining companion ordered a margarita that came straight up with a smoky paprika, sort of rim. I ordered the Mojito. They make their own Mojito mix and it was exceptional. Just a little hint of mint, but the excellent drink. Our bartender did not steer us wrong. We sat outside and ordered the okra appetizer, tikka masala, lamb chops and naan. Our wait staff said we were ordering a very small amount of food. I thought it should be enough, as we had a large lunch. She was kind of insistent, but maybe she was just trying to be helpful. The fried okra was amazing. It was like french fries but with okra. There's just a hint of spice very very crunchy and delicious. The rest of our meal came. I really should have asked about the spice level, but I did not. The menu didn't say my dish was spicy, but it was far too spicy for me. Since our wait staff did not come back to check on us there was not much I could do. However, I did flagged down another waiter and asked for some raita. This helped but I don't like the burn so I was pretty much done eating at that point. My sister's lamb chops were very tasty but overcooked for my preference. But we weren't asked how she wanted her lamb chops so there you go. I bet this is a phenomenal restaurant if you like a high level of heat. This was a difficult restaurant to rate... If you like good spicy food, I think it deserves at least four stars. But I would give the service one star. They told us it would be an approximately 30 minute wait for outdoor seating, and so we sat at the bar. When they finally came for us about 40 minutes later, they said they did not have a seat outside and it might be much longer. When we asked how much longer, she said she had to go check. And then she said it was a miracle, but an outdoor table opened up. It must've been a big miracle, cause there was at least another table outside open. My sister and I placed our orders, and the waiter said we had ordered a very small amount of food, and that we really should consider ordering more. She made specific suggestions on what we should add to our order. Since my sister and I had had a fairly substantial lunch and only wanted a lighter dinner, we thought we were good. And we told her that. But she still pushed harder about ordering more food. I really felt like they were trying to upsell us. But we left it as it was. The food came out... we had a starter of fried okra. It was marvelous! My sister had ordered chicken tikka masala, and I had the lamb chops. The lamb chops were incredibly tender, but I did not expect to find them as spicy as they were. However, I like spicy food so they were good. My sister is not a big fan of spicy food, and as she took a bite of her chicken, she almost spat it out. She cried out spicy spicy, and I knew we were in trouble. We flagged down our waiter and ordered some raita. Our waiter never came back to check on us. When she picked up the dishes at the end, she asked my sister if she did not like the chicken, and my sister told her it was too spicy. Not just "hyped", dishoom deserves the recognition! SERVICE Amazing service, easy to make reservations online, and easy to check in and get seated once your entire party has arrived. INSIDE Spacious, clean, and plenty of seating both upstairs and down. MENU For larger parties, they recommend their prefix menu which includes a various sampling of lots of delicious items. FOOD 10/10 I haven't eaten Indian food much, but was thoroughly impressed. From my mango lassi which was perfectly sweetened and tart to buttered buns, fried okra, black Dahl, garlic naan, and lamb skewers, everything was delicious. I esp loved the lamb skewers! We ordered a side of garlic naan with cheese which is basically a quesadilla and it was super cheesy and delicious as well. OVERALL Would def recommend Dishoom when visiting London. There isn't much I can add about Dishoom that hasn't already been said. As a huge fan of Indian food, I can honestly say I haven't had better. The food was exceptional -- aroma, flavors, spice levels, portions; everything was perfect. While visiting London, a local friend invited me to Dishoom, knowing how much I love Indian cuisine. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon around 5PM, and the place was already packed. They don't take reservations for dinner unless you're a large group, but trust me, the wait is worth it. They have a fantastic bar where you can grab drinks while you wait for a table (they give you buzzers). I tried the Negroni and another tequila-based cocktail (sadly I can't remember the name), and both were phenomenal. Shared plates are definitely the way to go at Dishoom. We ordered the gunpowder potatoes (incredible), an appetizer with potatoes and pineapple (not my favorite; the pineapple threw me off), monkfish curry (amazing), and chicken curry. It was a lot of food for just two of us, but I couldn't stop eating. I seriously wanted to bottle up that sauce! The service was surprisingly impeccable, especially considering how busy they were. We ended up spending about £110 for an incredible dinner, and we nearly couldn't finish everything. Lastly, the ambiance! Inspired by Iranian cafes in India, the atmosphere at Dishoom is eclectic. Came by for breakfast the other day and it was a decent experience. Dishoom Shoreditch is conveniently located near a bus stop. Dining is available both indoors or outdoors in the covered seating area. Service was attentive by the staff. Started off with the chai and it was decent. I think their chai used to be more fragrant. Moved on to the wrestler's naan and it was gigantic featuring freshly baked naan cream cheese, ketchup, eggs, streaky bacon, along with sausages. The wrap was a touch hard to eat too! The restaurant was 20% full during a weekday breakfast. The restaurant was offering some type of loyalty card at checkout. Dishoom absolutely delivers on flavor. Every dish we tried had depth, heat, and that layered spice that lingers in the best way. The prawns were good, perfectly cooked with bold, punchy seasoning. My biggest recommendation: go big with your ordering. This isn't the kind of place where you stick to one or two plates. The magic really happens when you try a wide variety and share everything around the table. It's much better suited for larger groups than a small, quiet dinner for two. Service was solid, attentive without hovering, and the overall vibe is lively, energetic, and fun. It feels like a place meant for conversation and passing plates back and forth. Dishoom had been on our list for weeks leading up to our recent trip. We were able to grab the last walk in table available just before 6pm. The food was mouth watering and oh, so delicious. The chicken ruby was the star of the show, though it did not have much chicken. I would suggest adding more chicken. They recommend that you order 3-4 things and split them amongst 2 people and that is what we did. The interior was very nice and the vibes were high. It was very crowded! I've really been looking forward to finally being able to give Dishoom a try! I walked-in around 6:30 on a Monday and was quoted around a 20 min wait time (solo dining this time) -- there's a nice bar area for customers to wait and order some drinks/snacks. Ultimately I managed to get seated just around the estimated 20 min :) Per my server's recommendation, I ordered the chicken ruby with garlic naan, and it was definitely a great choice. I loved the depth of the curry flavour, a wonderful balance of umami, creaminess and the (just-right level of) spicy-ness. The meat was so tender and juicy, and very well-infused with the rich curry flavour. The garlic naan, light and fluffy, was a lovely complement to the heavier flavours of the curry (but I wish it had more of a garlicky taste). I also ordered a mango and fennel lassi to drink, which was yummy. The mango flavour was crisp and fresh, and I liked that it wasn't too sweet nor was the texture too thick. I did not taste much of the fennel though. Portion sizes were not bad -- I think it's definitely a higher-end restaurant and the prices reflect that. We hung out at the bar and the bartender recommended their special drink, which ended up being amazing. I ordered the murgh malai and the chicken ruby and both were so flavorful and comforting. Had reservations for lunch at this place. Have seen the long lines at the other locations. We were seated immediately upon arrival. Sat downstairs. Was a little noisy and loud here so it was hard to hear our waitresses response and recommendations. We had the chicken biryani, the chef special - Prawn Pathia, the moan monkfish curry and the vegetarian samosas. Also ordered some naan. The sauce on the Prawn Pathia was so good. The prawns were well marinated and tasted great. The sauce had a spice to it and as well as some tang - tasted like chutney. We needed the extra naan for this and the curry. Fish curry was delicious- the first couple of spoons you could taste the tanginess of the curry but the coconut milk rendered a nice sweet ending. Every trip to London, Dishoom was a must. This time round very disappointed their service sucked. Not sure if the quality of their food and services have gone down due to how quickly they have expanded that they don't care about, both service or quality. I feel this place is gaining attention due to the Hype it created when it first opened. When we got there no line which was great seated immediately. We waited 15min before we were attended to. We ordered our drinks and meals at the same time. Appetizers came out no drinks. Which was ok. We asked for water 3 times from our server, she smiled and tapped me on the shoulder and walked away. I'm now confused if water was coming or not so we waived another server and right away got water. Finally got our drinks , which was a soda and wine. So not that they were preparing a fancy cocktail. We ordered chicken tikka which was very spicy and didn't feel like a 2 start, fish curry which was very flavorful, prawns were spicy and delicious as expected. The naans came out very chewy which we all were very disappointed about. We thought it was a bad batch so ordered another serving and plain naan was giving our gums a good stretch. When we told our server she goes that's how naans are supposed to be and I mentioned our garlic naan was fine. Again she smiled and walked away. No doubt our dinner experience here was challenging but what got us the most was the smell of food that carried with us after dinner. Poor ventilation and not sure if this had to do with the kitchen being upstairs or what but we smelled of what we ate through out the evening, that we tried to walk it off but didn't help. We got in our uber headed to our hotel and I could tell our driver was not happy with the smell and put his window down in the pouring rain. Do not walk to Dishoom! We were told that they are a chain restaurant and that they'll be opening a location in New York at the end of 2026. I like curry, but every time I always worry about smelling like Indian food or upset stomach after dinner, well I don't have to worry about any of those this time. The food was excellent, that Chicken Ruby was on point, it has hints of spicy and I just want to dip everything into that sauce. The PRAWN PATHIA has more spicy but with so sweetness to balance it. The naan and rice were also great balance, I need like 10 more naan for my sauce!!! The surprise was the grilled greens, I can tasted that they fresh off the grill and also the dressing that comes with it were excellent. I recently heard about plans for a Soho, NY location opening in 2026, reportedly in the former Lucky Strike space on Grand Street. That restaurant was a longtime Soho fixture, making the pairing feel perfect. Dishoom's focus on atmosphere, history, and hospitality seems well-suited to such an iconic setting. Some of the newer Dishoom locations may feel slightly more commercial, but the food remains excellent everywhere. Shoreditch sets an exceptionally high standard and remains our benchmark. Dishoom appeals to a broad audience, from devoted Indian food lovers to people newer to the cuisine. I'm not sure what it is, but it involved potatoes, beetroot, and yogurt, which sounds weird, but was my favorite dish of the night. I've never had a bad dish here, Ruby Chicken is always good. Cinnamon Jaggery Pancakes were delicious if you're in the mood for something sweet. The Naan Rolls made for a nice departing breakfast before heading back to the states. I know that Dishoom is a pretty popular Indian x Iranian fusion spot located throughout London that has a massive cult following/is on a few go-to guides for visitors, but honestly, I didn't get the hype. My dad lived in India, so I grew up with authentic Indian influences, and living near Little India/Pioneer Street in Artesia, I'd like to say I know what classifies good Indian food. I can only review the Shorditch location as that's the one I went to. This place was decent; it had a higher price point than most restaurants I've been to and a crazy wait time. During my weeklong visit to London I had 2 Dishoom experiences, dinner and breakfast. Both were absolutely wonderful. Dishoom is a beautiful space, inside and outside (I want to return when it's warmer to experience the outside) and so far I've sat in the bar area which is very chic and in part of the dining room near windows in booths. The booths are huge and I have been tempted to sleep there after eating all the things. For dinner, my party shared several things, which is customary. I enjoyed everything we had, but suggest people check out the menu and choose what's right for them - my party had a pescatarian and our menu skewed that way. All of the food was amazing, there were no survivors, lol. I also had a delicious lassi to accompany my meal. Another day we returned for breakfast. I ordered the pancakes, sausages, and the breakfast lassi. When the pancakes showed up, I looked at them dubiously, just knowing they wouldn't get me full. And yet, they did. I added Dishoom to our list of restaurants to check out while in London after I came across the fact that it had so many good reviews (across multiple locations). It is definitely a vibe; highly recommend making a reservation if you want to get in timely. We had gone on weekday evening around 6pm and it was busy; walk-ins were given an estimate of about 1 hour for a table. We were seated about 15-20ish minutes after our reservation time. My husband and I were dining, and we ended up getting the pau bhaji, makhmali paneer, chicken ruby, and a roomali roti. As someone who has had a lot of pau bhaji at different restaurants, this variation wasn't my favorite. It had a very strong amount of spice but it was somehow bland. It needed something more, including butter. The paneer was nice and soft but the sauce they had drizzled over tasted more like a pesto. The ruby chicken was very tender, not too spicy, a nice change given how spicy the pau bhaji was. The curry was thick and creamy, and the roomali roti was pretty good. Since I visited around the holidays, I reserved the Winter Feast meal, which included a 3-course prix fixe menu. The first course included: new keema pau (similar to a lamb "sloppy joe"), okra fries, and bhel (puffed rice dish). Everything was excellent - I especially loved the festive touches of pomegranate that topped the bhel puri. The second course included: sheekh kabab, paneer curry, biryani, black daal, fresh vegetables, raita, and naan. Everything was superb; however, the meat dishes were quite heavy, and we couldn't finish everything (as hard as we tried). The standout for me was the paneer - I sopped up every ounce of sauce with the naan. For dessert, we had a choice among three flavors of kulfi pops, which were a sweet and refreshing way to end the meal. The food and service was overall excellent, although the restaurant itself was too dark and noisy to have a conversation with the people at my table. THIS RESTAURANT MAY RUIN YOUR TRIP If you begin your culinary journey here, you may well find the rest of your holiday dining rather a let-down -- the food was nothing short of exquisite. I ordered a single sabji with a cheese naan and savoured every morsel as though it were my very first encounter with Indian cuisine. The experience was elevated by Jonathan, my waiter, who might just be the most charming and courteous gentleman I've ever met in a restaurant. He shared a bit of Dishoom's history, guided me through the menu with genuine enthusiasm, confirmed my dietary requirements, and made spot-on recommendations. He was endlessly attentive -- refilling my water without prompting, providing little sweets at the end, and offering mouth fresheners with the sort of grace one might expect from an old friend rather than a stranger. Whether this is standard Dishoom etiquette, a hallmark of Jonathan himself, or simply the British way of doing things, I couldn't say -- but it set the bar impossibly high for the rest of my trip. read more
