Immediately upon entering the empty -zero patrons-store, a worker beelined it for us to curtly say no dog. I understand my 7lb clean beautiful dog might dirty the store ?! but there is a nicer way to address the issue. They saved me from overspending bc this store is so ridiculously overpriced and o was worried with how empty it was that the quality would be bad. We won't be back. I agree chedraui has a lot of great organic products -and a way better price. No dogs in Chedraui either I know, but it's worth it for the savings! read more

We were stoked to find an organic market when we first arrived at Tulum, since I have dietary issues.. but we soon realized how outrageously expensive it was. Prices were close to or more than prices in SoCal. Found some unique products which we enjoyed, but when opening the coffee we bought, there were white bits scattered within the grounds which was concerning. The chocolate we bought was all a powdery color, like it had been sitting for a long time. When left in the car, instead of the chocolate melting, it became a powder. I now question how old everything is in this store. For how expensive everything was, I am very disappointed with the quality of the products sold. I wouldn't be as surprised if the products were much cheaper. read more

We came here on our first full day in Tulum. We bought a full breakfast package ahead of time for three of us. Absolutely fantastic. I wish we ate slower cause I felt like we rushed the experience. Everything was so fresh and delicious. From coffee to the beans. (I know right?). Great service, we were never rushed (we just ate fast). Didn't get a chance to see what else is on the menu, but we had coffee, orange juice, fruit platter, pastry, parfait, and eggs/beans/salad. Good stuff! read more

Gypsea Market & Cafe is like a Fresh Market / Whole Food in the USA. They have most all beverages, wine , liquor , beer. Fresh produce, grains , beans, vegetables, fruits. Honey comb honey even. Great place for fresh bread. They have a nice little cafe here that serves food, coffee, and it is very good. I would think twice on the swinging chairs, I could not find a comfort zone eating in them. But it is something different. I would come back here again. Update 1/24/2020. I have been coming here at least once a day since the beginning of the year. The people here and very kind , helpful in assisting you. If you do buy rolls , bakery goods , once purchased and taken out of the store are not returnable. There is a sign that clearly states this at the cash registers. Terrible shop with everything is way too overpriced. Example: Merlot casa madero 750ml costs in the wine shop next door "off the wine" 445 MXN (off the wine is an amazing shop btw) and in Gypsea the exact same bottle is at 680 MXN. I really wanted to like this place. It's marketed as almost a small local organic Whole Foods, but their selection is like some sort of a gift shop. There store isn't sustainable for actually grocery shopping and everything this heavily overpriced, even things you could buy at a convenience store a few blocks down for much cheaper. Their wine selection looks like they have no organization other than maybe shelving them in an ombré order for the aesthetic? Their cheese selection is comical in comparison. They market themselves as a health food store, but most of their food is not organic and even the prepared food they cook in house has toxic ingredients in it like canola oil. Tourists and residents of Tulum, beware of this establishment. Living in Tulum for 4 years and counting, I had the worst experience customer service-wise at this store. This place does not welcome shoppers and it does not treat them as such. And the worst part, it was that it came from the very owner of the place (the French guy). Three weeks ago, I had some guests in my house, and I went to Gypsea Market get couple of beers and a bottle of wine. Knowing that this store is an over-priced tourist scheme that charges everything double to tripple, I still went there because the gas station was further down the road, and I did not want to keep my house guests waiting. So, I grabbed about eight Victoria beers and a bottle of white wine. I went to the counter and paid with the card. Then, I asked the owner (the French guy) for a plastic bag. He said : "No, we don't give plastic bags, they are five pesos." I have offered a hundred dollar bill to pay for the plastic bag, and he refused because he did not want to change this bill. Then I have asked him if I can have a plastic bag to put my beers and wine, and bring five pesos tomorrow, because I was on my motorcycle and there was no way for me to carry them on my scooter without a bag. He said in French accented Spanish: "All the people say the same thing as you, and they never pay five pesos." Okay then, then I demanded the refund, because I couldn't carry the bottles without a bag, I had no choice but to go to the gas station. Then He said rudely in annoyed voice: "I can not refund you, because I have just charged your card, this is not possible!" Then, I have realized that there is some kind of problem of narcissistic attitude with this person. I did not understand why he would not give me a bag to safely take out my merchandise. I tried to grab bottles with my hands, it was kind of sloppy trying to hug all of them. I carefully walked towards the exit and the owner said: "Come back tomorrow, and maybe we will see", meaning he might give me a bag tomorrow. I had offered all the options, to ask for a bag, to pay for the bag with $100 bill, to get the refund on my card, and he turned all the options down. He left me with no choice, but to walk out with the bottles in my hands. Eight bottles of beer and a bottle of wine. I had put all the bottles down on the scooter floor, holding them loosely between my legs. As soon as I turned my scooter on and crossed the gravel of the parking lot, I stepped on the main street, and the three bottles fell of the motorcycle, splintered on the highway. I had to put down all the bottles on the side of the road, so I could clean up the glass from the main road. I do not understand this man's attitude. Some Tulum locals told me the same about him, that he is a rude, condescending narcissist. If he does not want to provide the means for his customers to take out the merchandise safely from his store, he does not deserve to own and run the business. Customer service and customer satisfaction are the most important things. If you are unable to understand and provide this, then you are incompetent and should be put out of business. Hopefully, my note will serve to those who demand great customer service, considering the money they are paying. By all means, avoid this store. Go to a gas station down the road, or take taxi to a supermarket or a liquor store, it will be worth your while, you will save money, and on the top of that save your self from dealing with rude unkind people. Amazing place and service. We were working from Tulum for a few weeks to escape Covid in the US. This became a great outlet for us. When the power went out in our area, we posted up in their cafe to work and had breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All three were amazing. The owner kept checking on us and had great conversation and tips. We never felt like a bother even though we were there all day. We came back several times after this. The food was fresh. During our stay I tried several juices, smoothies, the veggie pizza, portobello burger, and beef burger. Everything was impeccable. The veggie pizza has a very light and think crust but loads of topping to fill you up. read more

One of my favorite places in Tulum. I tried the detox tonic, vitalidad juice and the veggie pizza. My friends tried the green juice, vegan 4 cheese pizza and the beef burger. Everything was really good. I love that they have so many vegan options. At first I thought it wouldn't be that good since the menu was so big but I was wrong. It's a grocery store so all their ingredients are fresh. In addition to the food their service was also really good. The owner came out and discussed the food options with us and even brought out a bunch of cheeses for us to chose for our pizza. read more
