Love the shiny clean spacious shower

Had a GREAT experience from the moment I pulled up and the doorman helped get my bags. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The place was immaculately clean. I loved how modern the bathroom was. The location was fantastic. I love that the room has a fridge. This is such a little thing, but it was so helpful to me... I forgot something in my car, and the Bellman gave me my keys and so I went to the garage across the way where it was parked and was so appreciative that he had backed the car into the space and also left plenty of room to open the trunk without banging it on the wall... I've never actually backed into a space like this, and was very appreciative that he had I've stayed for two nights on the second floor, and I had no noise issues whatsoever... from other hotel guests or from outdoors. I'm staying somewhere else for the second half of my vacation but now I wish I was staying here the whole time! Highly recommend!

Wow, just wow! This place is truly a 4-star! Rooms we had is a superior 2 queens and is wide enough with a high ceiling and a large window. Bathroom is iconic! A modern, plush and spacious one! See my pics. Housecleaning service is superb! We requested for a room clean and next thing we know, looks like we checked again into a new room. Bravo! Hotel is located at the center. Walking distance to everything! They do have a valet parking cad $30 per night. They also have a restaurant on the lobby. Concierge speaks english, accomodating and helpful. There is this man who works on nights, i forgot his name but he is knowledgeable of the area and tries to help my baby who is having low grade fever by looking at the first aid box.

We had a great stay here. The view from our room was amazing! The room was a bit small as some have mentioned, but what you would expect for a historic hotel, in a historic city. If you are staying in this area you probably are not spending much time in your room.

Stumbled into this beautiful hotel restaurant today, hungry as I was still on East Coast time. It was so early that the bar had only a few people in it and the restaurant was empty but for us. This is a spacious, gorgeous place with excellent service. We ordered: Vegetable soup which ended up being some form of a light leek soup. This was scrumptious with the warm mini ciabatta they brought to the table. 5/5 The goat cheese and vegetable lasagna was served in a pool of yummy tomato sauce and balsamic vinegar. 4/5 The salmon with risotto was good, but the risotto was quite al dente. 3/5. Service 5/5

Outstanding stay! Stayed here for 5 nights just after Christmas and couldn't be more pleased. The location was spectacular! We had two rooms, one for the kids and one for my wife and I and they were perfect. Clean and classy. Service in the hotel was spectacular! Anytime we called for anything at all it was to our room within minutes! Front desk was helpful and spoke fluent English. Perhaps the stars of the show were the guys at valet. Again, multilingual, always pleasant and extremely helpful! ps DO NOT EAT at Parmesan. Tourist trap. If you want to be at the center of it all, and I mean ALL!!!, at an affordable price with the right people around you and in a clean and classic environment look no further. We will definitely be back and would recommend a million times over. Thank you for making our stay magical!

ROOM (320 - Full Bed) FRIDGE (No) MICROWAVE (No) COFFEE POT (Yes) TV (RCA 27" CRT) DESK (No) COUCH (No) INTERNET (Free - Wifi) PARKING (Street, Valet, or Pay Lot) RATE (September, 2012 - $179 CAD/night) PROS - Historical Building (guess that's a Pro?) - High ceilings - Wifi is pretty fast and consistent CONS - Tiny room! - Light Switch's outlets are confusing - No Desk - Old - No real amenities - A/C either sucks or doesn't work. - No Business Center NOTES The hotel is old, like 1920's old. To some it's considered "historical" or "a classic." I just see it as old. The hallways are just like the really old apartments in Chicago near the lake, but at least it smells better! For such an old looking room, it has "some" modern amenities, like a coffee maker, phone, alarm clock, and keycard entrance. It also has an iron & board, which isn't always a given! But that's it! The carpet's old, the TV's old, the dresser's old, the chair is old, the bathroom floor is old, and even the window's old! I cut my thumb on the broken screw that was supposed to be the handle, plus the thing slides to the left and there's no screen! I went in the fall, so there weren't any bugs, but I imagine if you tried to open the window in the summer, you might have mosquitoes in your room. Speaking of opening the window, the A/C control in the room is absolutely useless. I walked in the room and it was stuffy, the A/C was on cool, but no matter what temp I set it, it wouldn't start...ever! Also, I'm sure I make a tiny minority of people who rent a room here for work, but there is no desk in the room! There's a small round table, much like one you might find at a Days Inn, but it's shoved into the corner so you can't even really use it for anything! The room's tiny! It's like a 15'x20' room, but put a useless table, a dresser with a TV, fullsize bed, and a chair, and you barely even have enough space to walk from the door to the side of the bed! I can't imagine what it'd be like to have 2 people here! AND the bathroom. Has just enough space to fit a tub, sink, toilet, and space for the door to swing. No more, no less. I had no problems, but I've heard other people complain that the shower goes from hot to cold randomly. Oh, and just FYI, there is a valet, but they're only available from 7am to 11pm. Why do I tell you that? If you valeted your car last night, but need to leave at 6am this morning...too bad, so sad! Enjoy the sunrise while you call work and tell them why you're going to be late today. NOT FOR BUSINESS I may have had a different opinion if I was here to see the river, or if I was a history buff. But I'm here for work, and I can see that outside of this walled city, there is a Hilton highrise, and I would MUCH rather be there! It's not a terrible hotel, I mean, it does the job, but a front desk and a valet that both close at night is annoying!

The Chateau is an architectural gem. It is well worth your time to walk around the perimeter of this gorgeous building -- you won't be bored. The tour guide explained that the Chateau is a 5 Star hotel and everything must be perfect. Once inside, I saw chandeliers and window ledges caked with white dust. The "grand ballroom" reminded me of my high school all purpose room. We were warned not to touch anything because the grand ballroom was being prepared for an Easter Brunch. Two of the tablecloths covering the round guest tables had strange, yellow spots on them. If I return to Quebec in the future, I will stay at the Hilton which has a fabulous buffet breakfast that is reasonably priced and an equally fabulous view looking down on the Chateau and the old city.

Check-in was easy, and I was delighted to discover I had been given an upgraded room without making any request or having any particular status. The room was twice as large as most hotel rooms I've stayed at, with delightful views, a large and very comfortable bed, a couch and desk, and a style that was elegant without being stuffy. My fellow travelers had a room that was even more phenomenal because of the view it had over the water and the cruise ships that were coming and going. Hotel staff were always helpful with suggestions for places to go or neighborhoods where we'd find a selection of restaurants to eat at. In the evenings there is a small and comfortable area to order drinks and to listen to the guitarist or to simply sit and watch the fireplace. Although it is a high priced hotel, I would absolutely return. Its location is perfect. Walkable throughout the old town area and to the port. The only minor complaint we had was that we arrived late and the bar was closed. We were a little hungry so the front desk receptionist offered us some snacks from the mini bar. We should have realized these snacks would be mini bar pricing even though he handed them to us from the reception desk. $26 of chips and pretzels showed up on the bill! Our mistake. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again though. The bed was comfortable. The shower great too. And the service was very friendly.

Exceptional Stay in the Heart of Old Québec…read more L'Hôtel du Vieux-Québec was our home for a six-day holiday in Québec City, and we could not have chosen a better place to stay. Our double queen room with kitchenette was spacious, immaculately clean, quiet, and exceptionally comfortable. After long days exploring the city, we particularly appreciated the deep soaking tub, the rainfall shower, and what may have been some of the best water pressure we've experienced in a hotel anywhere. Small details matter, and this hotel gets them right. The location is fantastic--perfectly situated within Old Québec and within easy walking distance of the city's historic sites, restaurants, shops, and attractions. Despite being in the heart of everything, the hotel was remarkably peaceful and quiet. One of our favorite amenities was the guest lounge and its outstanding coffee machine, which quickly became part of our daily routine. We also opted for the breakfast package, and it was a delight. Each morning we awoke to a basket of fresh breakfast goodies hanging on our door: fresh pastries, juice, yogurt, and other treats. We never tired of it. As a fun local note, visitors should know that the beloved pain au chocolat is called a "chocolatine" here, just as it is in the south of France! What truly sets this hotel apart, however, is its people. M. Pierrôt deserves special recognition. He was warm, helpful, knowledgeable, and always greeted us with a genuine smile. In truth, every member of the staff we encountered embodied the hotel's reputation for friendly, personalized service. We also appreciated staying in a property with such a rich history. Built on land once known as the "Garden of the Poor," where medicinal plants were cultivated by the Augustines of the Hôtel-Dieu de Québec, the site has witnessed centuries of Québec City's evolution. Today, the hotel beautifully blends that historic character with modern comfort and thoughtful amenities. It is easy to understand why L'Hôtel du Vieux-Québec has earned such an outstanding reputation among travelers. For us, it was the perfect base from which to explore one of North America's most beautiful and historic cities. We would not hesitate to stay here again and recommend it enthusiastically to anyone visiting Québec City. A sincere thank you to M. Pierrôt and the entire team for making our holiday so memorable. We hope to return again soon.

This is a 125 hotel all day long except for its 15 minutes walking distance to the Frontenac Hotel which is about the same price right now. Don't get me wrong everything is insanely overpriced around here. This is Manhattan pricing. I think the whole thing is completely not worth it. The Frontenac is beautiful on the outside, but there's nothing really going on the inside and it's just surrounded by overpriced, mostly lousy, tourist trap restaurants. I would spend a day here that's it there's not much else to do if you are active. Overall, I'm very disappointed at the hotel and the area in my opinion was a complete rip off. The area was nice by the Frontenac, but all of the tourist trap restaurants and T-shirt and sweatshirt gift shops just ruined it for me. Decent walking if you are into hilly areas, pretty to see once but more of a one and done after a day. All of the videos I watched on this place and the area I feel deceived. It was not that interesting at all and not worth it in my opinion. I'm bummed out it was a waste of a lot of money and a lot of time getting there for a crappy hotel and a lot of bad food and average coffee at unfriendly coffee shops. By the way this hotel has no lobby coffee, no water or snacks whatsoever. Some nights are 500 even $600 a night here. As much as I hate Holiday Inn expresses they are far better than this hotel. This is just a basic no frills place and you can't even adjust the room thermostat. Apparently it's controlled by management so you have limited access if at all some evenings it was shut off completely. This should be illegal at this price range. Again you need your head examined if you pay this price here. I only did because I was deceived by overhyped reviews. A lot of hotels in area are same price but from the little I saw of them they appeared to have a more luxury vibe compared to this low end b&b type vibe here. Oh and by the way, they gave me parking passes for a lot across the street. I displayed all of them in my windshield and I was still given a ticket by a cop in this parking lot that was $92 found on my windshield. If I say I'll never be coming back it would be too soon.
