She is very caring and will explain all of the options. Dr. Henery kindly saw my elderly cat Merlin in the afternoon last Friday. He'd been very ill during the day, and my usual vet wasn't available. The techs took him back for tests, Henery said she was concerned about kidneys, but would call me on Monday with the results. It's now Wednesday, and I've never heard from her. In the meantime, my poor kitty started bleeding from his back, presumably because they erred while taking samples. I called the fine emergency vet, Wilvet, in Springfield - they suggested I put pressure on the area and see if that stopped the flow. It did, for awhile, but a couple of hours later I checked on him again and he was simply covered in blood. I raced him over to Wilvet, where he had more testing while staying overnight. By Saturday afternoon it became clear that he was suffering from end stage kidney failure, among other things gathered during his life on the streets. We had to put him to sleep, and will be grieving him for some time yet - he was the gentlest of beings, and deserved kinder treatment than he received from Dr. Henery. read more

I wouldn't send my enemies to H&H. Took my dog there, for a nail clipping and check up, and suddenly my dogs back doesn't work, and is crippled, had to be put down. We adopted our beagle mix from Greenhill in late May and had her first appointment with H & H shortly after. They were listed as a recommended veterinarian by the Greenhill team, and were conveniently located to our house. Our initial appointment went well with Dr. Ebert. Following a few days of limping, we brought her in for a sore paw. Upon arrival, the receptionists assured me it was probably a grass seed stuck in her paw, and Dr. Ebert confirmed this hypothesis. However, after my dog was taken, sedated and cut open, it was determined that there was actually nothing inside her paw. I was told that this is common, and our dog was bandaged and given an e-collar to wear for a week. Less than a month later we were back. Our dog's paw was still hurt, swollen and red. This time an X-ray was conducted by Dr. Henery which confirmed that there was nothing inside her paw and she was given anti-inflammatories and trazodone (to ease her "spazziness"). The following day she continued to be lethargic and never seemed to recover from the sedation. That night she started throwing up and continued throwing up every 30 minutes for the entire night. We took her back in, and additional X-rays were taken. The radiology report came back and we were told that she needed emergency surgery to remove an abdominal obstruction. We left our dog in their care again. Surgery was completed, and again, nothing was found. We were given the option of taking her to the emergency vet for the night, or staying up all night to check her gums for blood flow, and we took her home. The sweet vet tech helped us carry her out to our car on a stretcher. My husband stayed awake all night and we took her back in the morning, and she remained hospitalized for the entire next day. Overall, we have spent over $5,000 on two surgeries for a sore paw and a day of vomiting for a dog that we have had for two months. Each time when I had to make the decision to sedate and do exploratory surgery I asked the veterinarians for their professional opinion, and each time they chose the most drastic option. I understand that diagnostic mistakes happen, but it is my opinion that only my dog and I had to suffer the consequences (her physically, and me financially) for months of mistakes. read more

13 years ago I got a handsome little white kitten with black tips to his ears and other places. Little did I know that he would save my life every day, whether he was in the same house or not. He became like a child to me when mine were grown and on their own. His unconditional love brought me through some very hard times. Now he was not a lap kitten by any stretch, but he was always at the door to greet me and laid at my side every night. Just under a month ago, I had to say goodbye to my love. He got sick and I couldn't see him being a pin cushion because I was too selfish to do what was right for him. If I truly loved him, I had to let him go. So I called the wonderful people at H & H. The doctor talked me through the options and it was time. She was so kind and gentle though I was hysterical at times. I let my love go peacefully and quick. My poor chicken, Zuzu. She's 4 1/2 yrs old and turned from an egg layer to just a sweet pet hen. A couple days ago she started wobbling when she walks and sitting down all day and not eating. I was told H & H had a great chicken vet. I called them and they were able to see my chicken the next morning. Dr. Henery and her assistant, Marlie, were excellent. Dr. Henery examined my chicken and suggested maybe x-rays would see something because she couldn't find anything examining her. The x-rays were depressing. It looked like she either had peritonitis or cancer. Either way my Zuzu wasn't going to heal. She needed to be euthanized. The additional cost was going to hurt. I haven't worked in 8 yrs. and I need work. They were so generous. The offered to do it for free. They took care of her and me and I'm eternally grateful. Last time I paid $55 for a simple estimate and cried during the appointment. The crying had absolutely nothing to do with my dog or his health, they were just rude. I'm not a person who likes to leave nasty reviews because I strongly believe that everybody deserves the benefit of the doubt. However, my negative experiences at H&H were so extreme that I feel I should warn others away. If you love your animals, don't bring them here. I followed my vet to H & H after Emerald Valley Pet Medical Center closed: I had been happy there for years. On my first visit, one of the other vets joked that she had studied general science instead of biology as an undergrad because "biology was too hard." After this experience, I believe she meant it. Almost immediately after the merger, a routine blood screen on my dog indicated that she was having liver issues. H & H ran me through a battery of extremely expensive tests, and even when they weren't sure what was wrong began preventative treatment. Almost immediately, my asymptomatic dog stopped eating, became lethargic, and dropped an eighth of her body weight. I asked if it could be the meds and was repeatedly assured that no, it was a symptom of the condition she probably had, because it was just about impossible for these meds to cause these side effects. When she didn't improve, they referred her to OSU's teaching hospital for surgery. At OSU, nearly every step of the care my dog received at H&H was scrutinized, and the medication was deemed to be the primary cause of her decline. The surgery we had been referred for was deemed too risky in her current state, and she was taken off the meds and sent home to recover not from a medical condition, but from the meds I was bullied into keeping her on. After six weeks of recovery we were able to begin the tests all over again (with a new primary vet and at OSU), and she has been diagnosed with a different condition. The really horrible part is not just that H&H's incompetence cost me roughly $800, but that it cost my dog MONTHS when she could have begun recovering and now we are in a race against the clock. After all this, my last straw was relatively minor. Today I went to my new vet to get my other dog his routine vaccinations. Conflicting records revealed that H&H confused the vaccination history of my two dogs. If they cannot handle even this, how can they be trusted at all? read more

I went here one time and I won't come back. It wasn't a disaster, but there are better vets in Eugene for the same or cheaper price. I came in for a physical basically. I hadn't taken my puppy to a vet in a year. My dog had an ear infection that I wasn't aware of. They took him in the back cleaned both his ears and medicated both ears. My dog ended up getting an ear infection again. I don't think this is from poor treatment. I just think he got water in his ears from swimming. After going to a better vet in Eugene, I left with a treated dog plus cleaning fluid and medicine to take home and continue treatment for the next few days and down the road if the problem came up again. I was dissatisfied because the vet didn't teach me preventative care and didn't give me medicine to take home. They charged me to clean his ears, which is something I could've done myself. Minnie needed knee surgery and the team at H&H came through with flying colors, making accommodations for Minnie to come over from Bend, taking wonderful care of her, and making sure she was comfortable and safe when she left. The instructions for after care were clear and easy to follow. Minnie recovered 100%. We couldn't be happier with H&H! Zero stars. This is the worst of it that I've ever been to. To say that the staff is incompetent would be the understatement of the century. It's a never ending struggle even to get the monthly flea and tick medication. They always make you wait they never know what they're doing they talked me into buying the extended health coverage and told me they would give me two teethin one year. They lied when I tried to get the second cleaning they fought me tooth and nail refusing to honor their contract in the very first time my dog got sick on his try FacSys they refused to replace the medication like every other vet that I've ever been to in the 30 years that I've had dogs and they terminated our service there because I wanted to $23 replacement pill which effectively requires a whole new set of exams just so my dog can get his $23 bill. All they do is argue with you you have no recourse to the law they will not let you speak to a supervisor or an owner or anyone that you're even remotely gives a fuck about you or your animal they only want your money and they do not care whether your animal lives or dies. read more

Honestly, I was very disappointed by the service received from this vet clinic. On the initial visit, I had an appointment and had to wait for more than an hour in the small exam room that was extremely warm. While Dr. Ebert was quick to offer an apology for the amount of time it was taking, she did explain that she had another patient that was taking a bit longer than expected. After receiving an estimate for an extraction, I decided to schedule the procedure as it was a reasonable amount. This was the fourth vet clinic I had received an estimate from. On the day of the procedure, I was asked to pay the first half of the estimate when I dropped off my dog. Of course, the amount was not correct and later that morning the office called me. They informed me that they had made a calculation mistake and stated that my credit card had not actually gone through, so they were requesting to re-run my card. I agreed to them re-running my card and requested I get a receipt. When I went to pick up my dog later that day, my bill was more than $100.00 over the estimate. Not only was I surprised, I was a bit upset and disappointed. However, I paid the bill and took my dog home. Later, that evening I checked my credit card balance and there it was, I had been charged $875.00 for my dog's extraction. They had charged my card each time they ran it, so the next morning I called the office and left them a message explaining what had happened. When they called back and left me a message, they explained that the officer person did not know how to correctly backtrack the previous day's credit card and that they had talked to that person and would credit my card back in a few days. When I went back for my dog's follow up exam, I asked the vet why the bill was so much higher than the estimate. She was surprised and said that did not sound right, however when she came back in the room she explained that my dog's heart rate went to low and they had to give her additional drugs. To clarify, I asked it that was $100 in additional medication and she said yes. Plus, she said that they had credited my card back $148, which I explained was because they ran my card three times. Either way, she said that it was correct. After the exam, the vet assistant came out and asked about my dog's vaccination history and I informed her that I did not elect to have the other vaccinations with our previous vet, just the rabies shot. The assistant then went back to speak with the vet, when the assistant returned the second time she told me that the vet wanted to give my dog a distemper/parvo shot right now and to come back in three weeks for a booster. I explained to the assistant that I was not going to do this and that I had other dogs at home. The assistant said ok and that she would just put a note in my dog's file. She left to speak with the vet again, before she would give me the paperwork for my dog's visit. Not only was I disappointed in how concerned this vet clinic is about getting their money, but they are also very pushy to add things without first discussing the long term care of my pets with me. While my dog's surgery and recovery are on the mend, this vet clinic is definitely not a reasonable place, as they ended up costing me a great deal more than others because of how inaccurate the estimate was. Just be warned that this clinic cares more about getting paid then helping pets. read more

Thanks to them my little kitten (Lestrade) is back to terrorizing me again with his demonic claws (which were trimmed for free, thank god.. you should see the lash he gave to my chin) and should be completely back to his awful ways in no time. I really hate to leave poor reviews, but I was definitely unhappy with my experience at H&H. When we moved to the area, we had no idea where to start to find a veterinarian so we tried out H&H because they had a free "new patient" exam, and our pup needed her yearly vaccines for daycare. The ENTIRE time we were there (we took her there for a few months) we were constantly overcharged and they attempted to guilt us into vaccines that after getting 2nd and 3rd opinions, we found weren't necessary. Ironically, we ended up getting this for our dog later, because another veterinarian gave us information for and against this and didn't pressure us to make a decision. They really try to sell you on the insurance plan, and they also wanted to charge an extra $20 to give a basic vaccines for our small dog because she "might have a bad reaction" (even though she never has had one. ever.). The other time we brought her in is because we needed a simple examination for a health certificate, and they ended up asking us to leave her there last minute because other things came up, and they had her there there for hours. I am the most obsessive pet parent, and money is not the object per se, but I also want a more personal, and non-pressure, experience. read more

She and her staff go out of their way to make sure my two rescue chihuahua's have the best care. I love the preventative care plan especially since my two little ones are seniors in age. Since the plan is paid on a monthly basis, it is affordable to me when I need to bring them in for teeth cleaning(included in plan) or illness. I was very disappointed in my experience at H & H, especially because it would have been a very convenient location for me! However, I will not be returning here. I had recently become the owner of a new cat, and as a new cat owner, wanted to get it checked out. H & H repeatedly tried to sell me on their "new pet plan" and indicated in no uncertain terms that it was the best financial option for a new pet. However, when I started digging into the plan they were trying to sell me, many of the treatments were not appropriate for a cat that was already four months old, and could be given in a single visit. After being misled on the value of the plan, I told them to itemize the exam and vaccines that I would be giving my cat so I could just pay for the items for this visit. They did so (it totaled approximately $221), I signed the sheet, and prepared to pay. They proceed to walk into a back room, come back 5 minutes later, and quote me a different price. Over the 2 hours that I waited here discussing what the appropriate costs should be, I was quoted over 5 different prices for the same work. Eventually, they were able to find the original sheet I signed and I paid the agreed upon amount. Overall, the extremely poor business practices of this place made it my worst experience at any vet to date. read more

Go to Delta Oaks! I work with a former vet tech and she said that H&H was one of the worst vets in Eugene to care for non "farm animals". They gouged me for years and I was too naive to realize it. The final straw was when I called to get a flea prescription filled and they said they wouldn't fill it without seeing the dogs ( meaning finding anything and everything to up sell me). Both my dogs had been seen inside of the last 6 months. When I cancelled my " wellness savings plan" they sent me a bill for almost 600 dollars. They said that I still owed them the money after having paid for services for over two full years. This is a scam! Oh, and the less but also annoying wait times and smells. I have spent more time in the waiting room than on the exam room. Also, I get it... it's a vet clinic, but dude... mop the floor. This clinic shows such a lack empathy and compassion that I am shocked at how little they seem to care about your pet. I have been taking my dog here for 2 years now and have never seen such poor communication between the staff and the vets. If you call in with a question about your pets care the front desk ladies are rude and seem to want to keep you from talking to a vet. I have called numerous times with questions and they simply don't return your phone calls. They have constant computer and technical issues which they blame for not returning your phone calls. I don't like the fact that a vet comes in and takes your dog into another room to examine and comes back telling you everything is fine. How do do you know this without seeing the examination yourself? These vets are not concerned about your pets care, they just want to make money off your poor animals misery. Our kitten fell down, and we believed that she dislocated her hip. We were enticed by the free first exam (seeing as we had little to no money available at hand) and took her in to see what was going on. "Dr." Henery decided to sedate her and take X-rays, which she initially told us would be around $165. We assured her that we did not have much money available so that would be fine but we really could not pay any more. She let us know that the surgery would be around $1200. While waiting we applied for Care credits and were denied. Then they offered us their payment plan, which we could not afford either way. She took us back to view the X-Rays and unfortunately our kitten did have a broken joint. We let her know that we could not afford surgery for her. She offered to do the surgery (if we put 50% down, HELLO? WE DON'T HAVE THAT MONEY) and that she would also spay her. So she tried to sell as ANOTHER service while we were trying to explain to her that we did not have the funds to do anything for our pet. We went to check out and the total came up to be a whopping $295... NOT THE ORIGINAL $165. I pointed this out to her, very angry, and she stated to her assistant, "Oh take that off, I actually did not use that much on her". WOW SO SHE WAS PLANNING ON CHARGING US FOR SOMETHING SHE DID NOT USE, EVEN AFTER WE TOLD HER WE COULD NOT AFFORD IT!!!!!! ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! That dropped the price down to around $205, because they claimed they needed to give our kitten (a tiny 6 month old) 3 DIFFERENT TYPES of medicine to sedate her.I started to cry and stated that we would now be homeless because that money was all needed to go towards our rent. To which THE VET HERSELF STARTED LAUGHING AND JOKED AROUND BY SAYING THAT THEY HAVE SOME ROOM UPSTAIRS, OR IN THEIR BASEMENT THAT WE COULD STAY IN. HOW DARE SHE!!! HOW INCONSIDERATE! I pointed out how odd it was that she would need three medications and the receptionist replied in a very short and rude manner, "We already helped you out by cutting out the exam fee (which they offer to everyone not just us) so you should understand" The staff are incredibly rude, inconsiderate, and they only want your business to pay off their student loans. Beware This Vet - Sharleen Henery - has only been licensed as a vet in Oregon since June 23, 2009, according to the Oregon State Veterinary Board. Since she advertises as being an Oregon resident for more than 20 years- it is clear that She doesn't have the experience of other general vets in the area. This may explain the overall unprofessional attitude in the office, and the encouragement from the vet for unnecessary surgeries- and risks She finds acceptable that other vets would not. Performing 'elective' surgery without withholding food for 12 hours- not sending home after surgery pain medications for the animal- and pushing procedures like shots and general maintenance care - when not due and provided by a different vet - without requesting or reviewing other medical records. When I visited this office, I was present to assist with computer issues, not seeking care for my service animal. After being criticized for my service animals overall health while being told by a 'professional' vet that My dog was being 'undermedicated' on her monthly trifexis- even being told that I was 'loving my dog to death' I was scared into allowing an unnecessary spay (zero possibility of a service animal becoming pregnant as she is highly trained and always in my presence) for my service animal when she did not have an empty stomach, and was not in any way prepared for surgery. More than $300 later, my 8 pound dog was put back into my arms for the ride home 85 miles away. Recovery did not go well, and an emergency trip to another vet 24 hours after the surgery required IV fluids, nausea medications, and pain medications - to the tune of more than $100.00 - Ironically, my regular vets who Ms. Henery was quick to say was providing questionable care- was too professional to criticize Ms. Henery. They did ensure that my dog was in good health, did not need surgery to clean her teeth immediately as Ms. Henery insisted, and took good care of my dog. Walking in the doors of this Vet facility was my first mistake. Allowing a vet with little experience to bully me into believing my service animal had major health risks was my second. Not walking out and getting as far away as possible immediately was my third. The refund I was promised never arrived, and the errors within the patient chartnotes that were finally provided to my regular vet show that accuracy in records is flexible in this office. There are many other veterinarians with a lot more experience who truly care about the animals they treat and do not take unnecessary risks close by. Choose one of them, if you want the best care available for your pet. read more

The vets here are high quality and provide excellent care. However, the way this clinic does business is awful. My dog was seriously injured while I was out of the state, and needed surgery. The dog sitter brought the dog in for the operation, and I was called to approve the estimate. The price was over $1,000, but hey, it's what the dog needed to survive. The next morning, I get a phone call from the vet. They said that I had to pay the entire bill immediately, over the phone, from another state. I explained that I was unable to from where I was, and asked if I could settle up when I returned home two days later. They said no. After I hung up, promising a prompt call back, I went to put the money together. Calling my mother and fiancé, I didn't get paid until the next day, what did they expect me to do? The clinic hounded everyone who called to check on the dog about payment. This includes my mother, fiancé, and dog sitter. I honestly cannot believe that a business would treat people this way. I understand being a small business but this is ridiculous. I'll take my business to someplace that treats people with respect. read more

In January 2016, i brought my cat in because he was very sick. He had an ear infection, but there was obviously something else going on with his condition. I was charged for ear drops for his ear infection, and was told to bring him in a week later for "blood work". I brought him and was on time for my appointment. Was brought into a side room, waited for 20 minutes. Finally someone came in, weighed my cat, (he lost another pound), checked his ear, asked a few questions, then told me to bring him again on another appointment. They never did the "blood work" they said they were going to do, but i trusted them. My cat was barely able to walk, and lost another pound the next time i brought him in. They never gave me any answers as to what may have been wrong with him. Meanwhile, i'm being charged for more ear medication, and still no "blood work" was done. My cat ended up dying a painful death. I had faith that maybe he would get better, but this clinic did not try hard enough, nor did they do the "blood work" they said they were going to do.
