My home warranty company scheduled service with APS plumbing for a gas leak. When the contractor…read moredidn't show for the scheduled appointment, I called and found out that somehow, the appointment was cancelled by my home warranty service (a whole separate issue). When I learned that APS couldn't come back out that day, but could schedule me for an appointment for the following day, I said "Sure, go ahead and put me down for tomorrow, but I'm going to follow up with my home warranty to see if I can get someone out today." I had explained that I had no heat in my home for 72 hours and an 11-month-old in the middle of St. Louis' winter and that my home warranty service request was on an Emergency Status. This apparently upset their scheduler, as she went on a completely unprofessional rant that, in sum, rudely explained that "they're trying to run a business here," and can't have people canceling appointments on them. [She blamed me for the cancelled appointment] Really? My husband runs a small business and I work in higher education. People cancel appointments ALL.THE.TIME. I told her I'd give her plenty of notice -- I just wanted to double check with my warranty company that I couldn't, in fact, get same-day service. She said she just got off the phone with them, and they said they weren't going to call anyone else. So, I called my home warranty company, and while I'm on hold with them, APS calls to say that they're refusing to provide me service and will cancel my appointment. I, obviously, am fine with this, seeing as how there are 1,000 OTHER PLUMBERS IN ST. LOUIS. However, you, as the consumer, should know that APS plumbing is inflexible, rude, dishonest (when I spoke to my home warranty company, they found another plumber in 5 minutes), and lacks understanding and care for their customers. I can't vouch for their work, but their professionalism and customer service would lead me to believe you don't want these people in your house.
