We order screened fill dirt 3yards they indicated a delivery by 9 am at 930 we called since we had not seen a delivery they were just loading no apologies or explanation. Once delivered we found glass and plastic fragments very large rocks and clumps of clay dirt. They should clear in their description and since SOILLAND is their new neighbor we will be calling them for the remaining. Maybe owners need to think about better customer service and product read more

NEVER BUY and GIVE THEM a BUSINESS!! They said to me don't come back instead of sorry. I have few good experience with elder staff in the past so I tried to stick to that company for landscaping material purchase I also have gone to that place with my son to choose for continuing yard development materials as ongoing development but I decided will not give them any business from now. For them, Their sales on stuck what ever the conditions regardless of broken, chipped off etc is much more important then what customers want. When I buy 52 bricks They said take all the broken bricks first before opening up new pile. I said I dont want broken bricks every body left out because no body wanted. About 20-30 pieces of bricks were top of unopened pile were all chipped mostly corners were gone then he was very unpleasant manner and said this will be only one time and it never will be in the future opening it up untill you take all the bricks on top of this the new pile.i loaded 52 as my purchase counts, new helper came to count the pieces then he said sorry for that situation. even him self wouldn't take all those broken ones he said. I was very upset by how I was treated by first guy then I ended up going in to the office to file a complaint how I was treated and said you guys lost the business I wouldnt come then was walking out the door. guess what that guy final word toward me was "never come back" never come back was Mike's last order at me. I went to three rock yards today, H&M was middle of the road. Not great, not awful. I chose a different rock yard to do business with because of their stellar customer service. The delivery charge here was also the highest of the three by quite a bit even though they were the closest to my house. read more

I'd give these guys 10 stars if I could. I needed to address some issues with my driveway. I had no clue where or how. I was getting discouraged, then my neighbour told me about this place. I called and asked for a certain product, which they had. The man who answered the phone could tell I was confused about the whole thing. He asked me what I planned to do and I told him. He actually told me a way to do it for 1/3 of what I originally thought! And-they made the delivery two hours after that phone call! Now my driveway is fine, in plenty of time for the rain. Yes, they are as good as it gets! They are professional and friendly, and always offer good advice for your project. Prices are reasonable, but the real value is in the service. The whole crew is friendly. They've been in business for 50 years! They are a real West County institution. The one star reviews here are a little sour grapes, I think. Every time I go in here, they actually HELP you! if you are unsure what materials or quantity you need they will HELP YOU figure it out and not make you feel like you are an idiot. Not to mention they make you FEEL like you can do any project. They have a HUGE selection of paver stones, and all sorts of rock, sand, bark and more. I love this place so much I often find myself creating new "home landscaping" projects just to have a reason to go back in. The prices seem competitive and I found many things here cheaper than at some of the big chain stores. I have had several items delivered to my home and the drivers have been on time, and will put the items in the easiest spot for ME even if it isn't easy for them. I have had nothing but great experiences with H&M Landscaping. The guys there are straight forward and very helpful. I'm usually in on a Saturday to fill my truck with top soil, rock or this past weekend picked up a fantastic stone firepit... Donny, one of the owners was very helpful at helping me decide on the color rock to use for the pit and one of the other guys quickly came whizzing around on a tractor and loaded it into my truck. I don't think I have ever had a load up take more than 7-8 minutes... Highly recommend this place! read more

I just ordered salt and pepper rocks and asked for 4 yards of 11/2" for $98 dollars. when placing the order, I specifically ask for salt and pepper, 1 1/2 rocks, and do they have it in stocks. I was told "yes". I ask it to be deliver the following day during my work hours. when I came home, there is 1/2" rocks in my driveway. I called to complain and they told me they do not carry 1 1/2". and continue to argue with me instead of helping with the issue at hand. No help at all. I was lied to and H&M Landscaping Materials. They are not honest and did not want to help me. now i am stuck with 1/2 inch rocks. not matching already 1 1/2 rocks i have already. I do not recommend this place at all. Buyer beware!!! I am sorry it troubles people to see a negative review, however this site is to report experiences. What troubles me is when service is so negative i am compelled to put the information on yelp. We have used H&M countless times with sometimes positive and sometimes very average service. This time however was beyond repair. We purchased a specialized bricklayer hammer from them. At a job site it was well liked. We reported we had got it at H & M. We then returned there to purchase another for this person. They were out but said they would have another soon. About a week later we went in and there were none so we inquired. A nice employee said they were getting one on the shipment the next day. The next day about 3pm my husband stopped by to get the hammer. The same employee was there, remembered him and said the pallet was in back. It still needed to be unpacked but follow him and he would locate it for him. They got interrupted by the bell and so my husband waited. Meanwhile, a man came in and asked what was going on......and proceeded to say - "oh no. we don't have time to do that now, that would take an hour and there is no way we can do that at this moment." He said come back tomorrow. My husband explained it was needed for the next day and it was no problem to wait. The gruff man (perhaps the same co-owner?) said no. My husband asked if they really wanted to make that choice....He huffily said yes. No offer to give us a call later after they had had a chance to unload, nothing. Just come back tomorrow even though it was clear it was needed for the next day. When this story got brought home to me i was shocked. This is H&M, a family run place. So i decided to give it another chance. It was 3:45, they close at 4. We live not far. I rang them up and told them we understood that this hammer we really needed for the next day was on their pallet. Had they had a chance to unpack it and could i run over for it? I was told, not too kindly that they hadn't gotten to the pallet and we could return the next day. I explained how we had been in multiple times, had already purchased one hammer and that it was for the next morning at 6 am. This same guy basically told me too bad, things happen, deal with it. Nice. I have been coming to H & M as long as i can remember (i grew up here). I recognize people have bad days, but this behavior twice in one day, even after having had some cool off time. We recently decided to renovate our backyard. We tore out the lawn and had gone to H&M to get pavers. We ended up buying over $1000 worth and ended up being short by one lousy paver! We apparently bought them out. So over several weeks, we would call and ask if they had ordered anymore, mostly my husband and the answer was always(very smugly) that he won't order any more until he gets enough interest and orders for them. We have looked all over Sonoma County for another one without any luck. Today, I was in the area and it had been a few weeks so I popped in to inquire if they had ordered anymore. There was a large bald man sitting behind the counter and he answered" we're not going to place an order until we get more orders. I've told your husband every time he's called." So I asked if he could give me the name of the company he orders from so I can order it myself and he said "They're not going to send you ONE paver!" And laughed at me. Terrible customer service, rude big bald guy! And after we already were in for a grand there! I won't be back, I can tell you that! read more

The most unprofessional experience I've ever had! I asked about materials for building a patio and received gruff advice from a grumpy guy who is the part-owner. When I came back to buy some materials I was asked why I did not buy ALL materials from them. I was lectured about getting advice and not buying ALL materials from them, even though their prices for some materials were much higher than all other companies. Uncool! I will never go back and I advice you to not bother with them unless you like rude and unprofessional people who make customers feel like they are obligated to support a "family-owned business." read more

We did an upgrade to our backyard and ended up getting the colored concrete pavers from H&M. This included a pre-cut circle kit and additional pavers for walkways. The staff was as helpful as we could have hoped for and patiently answered all (and there were a lot!) our questions. Delivery happened in the time window provided. These guys are fantastic and I would not go anywhere else unless I could not get something they didn't carry...and I can't imagine what that might be. read more

Very inconsiderate and unprofessional! A few days ago my friend and I went to the store at 4:20pm. The store closes at 4:30. We needed to look at different kinds of material for the pathways of my garden. The clerk told us that it would be better to drive in the back to see all the different options. He did mention that closing time was at 4:30. We went there and spent time writing all the prices for our favorite choices. As we were leaving, it was 4:40. The gate was closed!! I looked all around and found no one and no exit. My friend banged at the office, no one!! Finally we decided that we had no choice to call a friend for her to pick us up and leave the car there for the night... Next morning, I call and the guy there said "there is a gate around the building" in a very harsh tone and absolutely no apology. I mentioned that we had a prior experience in another store where the clerk told us how to get to their gate in the back in case the front gate was closed. That was considerate and professional. I still did not get any apology I only heard "so what do you want me to say?" I answered I would like an apology. Then when I picked up the car I got the same very rude attitude and the clerk even said "you should wear glasses, there was an open gate in the back!". I love the huge selection of rocks here. I am obsessed with different stones of all kinds. I have a love of any sort of stones. I had my entire front yard dug up and removed so I could put in a huge planter's box made entirely out of Connecticut stones. The guys from Reynoso's stoneworks came out and was able to create exactly what I had in my mind and made it possible. My front yard is amazing now thanks to them and the stones I got from here. So I ended up getting Connecticut stones which is educated range from a gray blue, blue green, blue and black and all sorts of other colors when looking at it from different angles and lighting. They are the huge and thick stones. For the ground cover I choose the pink, salmon looking coral stones. It looks more like the stones you find in your fish bowls actually. But it looks amazing next to the Connecticut stones. I also had them get me a bunch of the super smooth, soft, round blue and purple stones. This place gave me the best deals ever and they only charged 60 flat rate for delivering everything. And the guys working here were super nice to my kids. They didn't mind having my kids climb, throw and bury themselves in the huge sand pile. Awesome place to buy the best looking rocks. read more

the old man and the son that own the place are not very smart. i went in and asked for terra cotta hardner and walnut hardner and they sold me terra cotta hardner and walnut release .....which if any one knows concrete they just made my job more expensive... when i went in and ask for my money back on the liquid release they sold me , i told them they needed to make it right by giving me a lil break on the sealer.... not much 10 to 15 % discount was all i was looking for because their mistake which they admitted to me when i came in was giving me the walnut release which cost my laborers more money and time so it cost me more $ and i don't think i was asking for a lot. but....when i mentioned this to them they got rude as hell and told me they don't have to take back nothing and asked me to leave their store.
