Stopped in here on a Saturday. It wasn't overly busy, nor was the mall itself. The displays were clean and organized. They had a large selection. Their prices are reasonable but not great, which is sometimes surprising for the quality. Their basics are some of my favorites though. The person who checked me out was incredibly friendly and fast! My only complaint was the fitting room was a bit messy, but not enough to not stop in (or to even take a star off!). read more

I stopped by this H&M location while walking around the mall. I was looking to get out of the hot heat so I came into the store. This store is 3 levels, so I went to the 3rd level to look at their men's selection. They have some pretty good item, I mostly wear their easy iron long sleeve shirts and sport shirt because it doesn't wrinkle. I found everything fine by myself, no employee to talk to me while I was looking around in the store. I uber here so I didn't have to look for parking. read more

Seems to me like H and M is a huge hit in Oregon. I am a frequent shopper at H&M no matter where I go. Why? It's because the prices are affordable and even I can buy some nice clothes. Price of clothes don't cost more than $20 like other stores do. The styles they have are very trendy and up to date. A few of my coworkers from my jobs where clothes from H&M and they really like how comfortable it is. I have been to this location a few times to find some nice fits that feel expensive but cost a lot less. It is more fashionable for people here in Oregon than in California. At this store I also bought some very nice shoes that lasted me a few months. Drawback: The price tags can be a little hard to read as with every other H&M. If you see a low price it means that items may start at that level. read more

To the management- how do you put someone at the register that doesn't know basic math?? Brought in a return- cash return of $37.81 I gave the girl some coins so that I could get $38 back. She freaked out and couldn't figure out basic math. She asked if she could just give me the $37.81. 3.5 STARS While exploring Pioneer Place, I decided to walk into H&M to see what they had. I stopped by on Wednesday, December 28th around 1:15pm. I really only explored the sale section since I didn't have much time. The section was a pretty good size. After going through all the racks, I found a grey sweater on sale for $15 (regularly $29.99) and a very light hooded jacket in green for $10 (regularly $39.99). I tried both pieces on. My fitting room experience was great. No line and the attendant helped me grab the sweater in XS since I had brought in a S to try on. Paying for the items was quick as well. There were a couple people in line, but it moved fast as they had about three people at the cash registers. I can only speak for the sale section, but the selection was pretty good post Christmas. And trying on and purchasing my items was quick and easy. Pretty good H&M location overall. read more

This is your typical H&M store. Nothing new, but the usual trendy styles of clothing priced extremely reasonably. My daughter loves this store and said they have a terrific "carreer" clothing section, and she needed more business-like clothes for her college marketing and business classes and clubs, so here we came. And sure enough, she found plenty of professional attire/wardrobe pieces, most costing $7. You can't beat that! There are three levels, with kids' clothes on the lower level, women on the main level and the men's department upstairs. I walked through the kids' section and they had some adorable outfits for both boys and girls! If I had young kids, I'd definitely get their clothes here. My issues with this store: the check-out cashier girl made no eye contact and didn't speak to us at all. She was very cold and almost robot-like. I take that back; a robot would be more personable. Also, I asked if there was a bathroom in the store and was told no, I'd have to use the mall washroom. Which I did, and it was a disaster (see my review on Pioneer Place). read more

Terrible customer service. If I could give negative stars I would. Yesterday my wife went to this location to buy some clothes for a wedding we were going to that same day. The fitting rooms were closed (as they always are here) and so they told her she can always get them, try them on at home and return them within 30 days. So that's what she did. She tried them on at home that same day, nothing fit right, so she ended up wearing a dress she already had for the wedding. Fast forward to today, we waited patiently in line in the women's section and when it was our turn, the girl at the counter said in a rude harsh tone "how many do you have because doing returns takes a long time and for future reference, returns are done in the kids section not here." Okay? How were we supposed to know that? Then another girl working there says "I can't take one of these pieces because I don't know if you wore it." (Yet they took the other two already?) so we told her that my wife didn't wear any of the pieces because they didn't fit. She then said "we can't take them because you don't have the tags." We point out that the tags were in the bag we handed them. She says "We can't take them because the tags aren't attached. You know you don't have to take the tags off try them on right?" We took the skirt they wouldn't take and left. The words I wanted to say to those two. So incredibly rude from the start. Never going here again. read more

I went in to H&M on 06/25 to get something for my friends wedding 06/25, the fitting rooms were closed but they said I can return them within 30 days. They never said anything about tags. I tried them on and none of the pieces fit me. I came in the next day with the receipt 06/26 to return them. The woman instantly told me "for future reference, I'm going to need you to return in kids since we can't take many returns here." It was at the main entrance checkout, how the hell would I know? I never shop there. Then she asked I have the exact card that I bought them with, I provided it. She then asked her co worker if she can return items without tags, all of the tags were in the bag but they refused to return a skirt because the tag wasn't on. If I would have known I would have bought a tag gun to replace the tag, I used to work in the clothing industry and it's a 2 second process. She said she couldn't tell if it had been worn. How could I have worn two outfits yesterday after 12 when I bought them? I ended up wearing a long sleeve dress to my friends wedding in 90 degree weather that I already had because they didn't fit me and I have photos to prove what I was wearing yesterday. I've been in the customer service industry for over 30 years and this place had the worst customer service in history. The manager was rude and just wanted to go home even after trying to explain I needed clothes after my car was broken into and all my clothes stolen on our trip. 5 minutes of his time was all I needed and didn't even get to explain. Just kept repeating that he was going to call the police. I was already on the phone with the police for my theft which I didn't get time to explain either. The police officer could hear our conversation and even he said what is wrong with this guy. I will never set foot in another H & M store ever again. When H&M first opened, I complained that I could never find anything cute in there to buy. I lamented that the only thing in there for me were tee-shirts. Well, I still love the tee-shirts. But as it turns out, more often than not, when I go in there now, which is almost every other day, I find something cute that I am tempted to buy. Usually that something cute is a jacket. I don't actually buy a jacket every time I go in. That would be ridiculously expensive to buy a jacket with every visit and my tiny closet could not accommodate that many jackets. These days a jacket needs to be quite unique for me to buy it. When I am not buying jackets, I find myself buying things like socks, camisoles, hair accessories, costume jewelry, sleepwear. etc. I have never had an issue with the quality of any of my purchases either. That is something that I have been pleasantly surprised with. I gotta love the price point of H&M clothing. Guilt free shopping! read more

I needed to buy some extremely cute little girl clothes and found H & M kids to have exactly what I needed at the right price. You can find a good deal here and everything is way cuter when in baby-size, so it was easy to find some great gifts. A pair of sparkly glitter ugg boots and sparkly silver knit hat to match, along with a very pretty sparkly hello kitty hair brush. I loved H&M when I was in high school. I remember thinking it was the more fashionable sister of forever 21. But as I got older I fell out of love with H&M. I found the stores to be overwhelming and too big. The clothes were often weird sizes and made out of cheap materials. I still came in when I was visiting Portland to browse through the racks. They do have upped to trend clothes and it seems like they're still pretty fashionable. I ended up leaving with one shirt for seven dollars. Definitely a cheap find! I think my biggest issue with H&M is that the store has no organization and you really don't get any customer service when you need help finding something. But H&M scores a double NEGATIVE Customer Service whammy: 1. no employees to be found for questions, not even during the holiday season. 2. When you do find one behind the cash register it looks like it takes every ounce of energy to muster a smile and a "hello." They're quick to become irritated with even the most basic of questions; this does not seem like a nice place to work. My family and I have not shopped downtown Portland in 3 years. Nice to visit Pioneer Place and see it coming back to life. Now the point of my review - blown away by the great selection on men's clothing at H&M. My son bought 5 items and I bought 3 items. Superb quality, trendy styles, excellent value. I am sick of seeing "stretch pant" fabric being used for men's pants - are you?. Enjoyed finding excellent quality non stretch quality cream colored jeans. My son among other items bought a fantastic black rain coat that is essentially high fashion. We ran out of time for my wife to check out the women's section - we will be back. read more

Before 2018, I went downtown to look at the new stores. H&M was one of those stores. There were a few times, when I was browsing the racks near the exit, and a younger woman just walked out the store with clothing (she didn't have a bag or a receipt and the alarm went off). I asked the Security person after that did she pay for her item or not. I was told that maybe she did. I repeated that the alarm sounded as she walked out. He said he thought that the alarm didn't sound... because he didn't hear it. I reported that woman to Mall Security as well. There was a line at the checkout when I went to pay for earrings that I picked out for my daughter and my niece. While I like some of the clothes at H&M... I saw no patterned blouses, very few brown long sleeved women's blouses (it was on Trend... but not so much... I guess what the H&M designers were making that season), and not enough darker toned turtlenecks (think teal, burgundy, and deep purple) with floral prints. It is usual to see locals inside H&M. I noticed that some of the women shopping were holding Men's clothing so I asked the Security Guard about the store... because I hadn't seen any Men's clothes on the level that I was currently standing. There is another floor for Men's clothes. I was tired from walking over two miles from my house to the TriMet bus and then from the bus to Pioneer Square (or Place- it depends on who you ask) Mall. I noticed an elevator. I was told when I started walking toward the elevator that is was "Out of Order." I asked why was there no sign on the elevator. I was told... there isn't any paper for a sign. Just then,.... a younger white woman and her boyfriend walked out of the elevator. I looked at where the Security Guard had been standing... but he had walked away to the register... apparently, it was someone's break time. I saw a few Midi sweater dresses, and I was able to do that thing where I measure the dress without going to the fitting room to find out if it would fit. It was a size Medium. I liked it.... but the problem was there was an unfriendly Security Guard... so I walked out without anything for myself. And, I've been back a few times since... pre Pandemic. I look for items for my Darling Husband (I brought him with me twice). He likes the selection... but he only wears short sleeve shirts. I was asked if I had a Credit Card by the one Cashier as well. I told her,... "I'm not returning it... I'll pay Cash if you want." So... I paid cash.... and I didn't get a bag on that first afternoon. I didn't get my change. I did remember to ask for a receipt... and I waited a few minutes for the Cashier to print it out. I think if the Cashier had been a less hostile... and the Security Guard hadn't been so strange (think of your worst stalker). I would have stayed longer. I don't think that any of the Sales racks have anything I would like, though... that's where most of the younger women were gathered when I was looking for the earrings. Of course some people in Portland are not big fans of H&M because it's not a local company and it's not in the same line with "Keep Portland weird." slogan. H&M is nothing but weird. It's the mecca where you can find affordable outfits for you, men in your life(boyfriend, husband, dad, uncle, brother, your secret lover), kids (yours, neighbors, nieces, nephews, secret child of yours), pregnant women (you, your mom, your friend, your boyfriend's secret lover). Quality of clothing is better than say Forever 21. I love how H&M clothing lines are modern and it's a perfect place to shop if you need to update your closet. Since this store is pretty new, please expect tons of people around you. There's always no line to pay at the register, long lines for dressing room. Quick tip, you can always return the merchandise later as long as you have the receipt and they will give you your money back, not like the other place (i.e forever 21) which will just give you store credit. I welcomed H&M in Portland with open arms. I love cute clothes and nothing will change that. read more

We do not live and breathe to cater on your every whim. Our job is to try and keep our store clean and help out customers as best as we can. NO we do not, and can not "hold a fitting room for" NO I am not your personal slave, I am more than happy to assist you with things, but we are also running a store here. Trying to maintain the messes and chaos CUSTOMERS create. Our stores are a retail space meant to shopped, don't let your kids sit on our tables, touch our mannequins, remove clothes from mannequins, or leave your empty drinks lying around in hidden shelf corners. (this also applies to the parents as well). Do keep in mind that H&M is a European company, our sizes run smaller than normal. No need to be offended or go off on a rampage to our employees about it. We are not in control of shipment, nor ordering. So with that being said, no we can not order something for you, no we do not know if we will get more in, but! You are more than welcome to come into our store every day and check for that item. Please also keep in mind dear customers, that if an employee says there is no one else that can help ring, go get you a size, or do a trick for you, WE SINCERELY MEAN IT. Retail is the empitomy of over worked, under paid. As juvenile as a job it may be, don't underestimate us, we all work extremely hard on a daily basis to make sure our customers are happy and we can help them out. But what you must realize is that some of your demands are just simply ridiculous for a store of our volume and staff. I love their clothes. It's chic, modern and best of all, it won't make your wallet go on an Atkins diet. The thing that gets them a 2 stars from me is the fact that the cashiers do NOT have a clue about what they are talking about! On three separate occasions, they have pretended to know what they are talking about and it's getting annoying. On one of those occasions, there was a shirt that was marked on sale with those cute signature red tags. While trying it on, that red tag fell off. When ringing me up, the cashier girl charged me full price, so I explained to her that this was indeed a sales piece that the red tag just fell off. Instead of telling someone to go out on the floor to check or just take my word for it, she goes, "No, I don't think this piece is on sale, or else it would say so. Do you still want it?" I marched over to the nearby rack, took the EXACT same shirt (with red tag attached) and gave it to her. She goes, "Oh, interesting, it is on sale." Yes bimbo, very interesting. More interesting is that your name-tag reads "Assistant Manager" and you have no clue what is going on in your store. The other two occasions were amazingly similar, except it involved a male cashier rather than a bimbo. H&M, I love your style, you got some mad swag but you need to do a better job at training your clueless people. Of course I will be back, but probably to a different location where people don't try to know everything when they are actually pretty clueless. **UPDATE** There are H&M customer service reps who do price adjustments and some who do not, it depends who you get. How exciting, it's almost like a gamble. I guess they favor you returning the garment and then re-buying it in front of their faces kinda thaaannng. read more

The people who work at this store seem more involved with their own social lives and interacting with the staff than the customers. They were rude and snotty. One of the girls that helped me find a dressing room acted like finding me a dressing room was so far beneath her and that she was put out by having to end her conversation with another employee about their weekend. I get it you're an angsty teen but I'm pretty sure you're getting paid to help people not give them attitude. read more

My favorite H&M is the one on Walnut Street in Philadelphia. They carry more "grown up" clothing along with the basics I love like their T-shirts, socks, and turtlenecks. This store is much better in terms of what I'm looking for than the downtown San Francisco or Las Vegas stores. I would rate it middle of the road. Yesterday was the first time that I had actually made a purchase at this location. The first couple of tries it was too chaotic and crowded since the store was a first for Portland. I picked up a couple of items I needed, didn't need the changing room since I've found their clothing to be pretty uniform in their sizing (note, for the most part the sizes run smaller than their American counterparts). I had my parking ticket out (for the garage under Pioneer Place) to be validated when I paid. The cashier ignored it altogether. After I paid, and came out and asked, she said that they don't validate. Not that I'm too cheap to pay a couple of bucks, but a retailer that doesn't do mail order (which is how I make 70% of my purchases) could validate with a $50 or more purchase. I will probably wait to make my winter coat purchase on my next Philly layover. read more

Ok, so the quality of the clothes at times isn't super amazing. But I'm not complaining. When I pay 10 bucks for a sweater, I'm not expecting a lifetime commitment. I've got a needle and thread and I know how to use it. I like the style of clothes here and I especially love that I can buy a couple outfits for the money I have because of the prices. I like this location the best out of the few locations in the Portland area. Their sections are better organized than the other locations and I can easily find the style of clothes I'm looking for (business, casual, or whatever). The store is usually pretty clean, although it can really get torn up on the weekends! Makes me feel bad for the staff! Man, twenty somethings and hipsters really know how to make a mess. And that brings me to my only complaint. While some of the staff are super nice. I think some of them put their personal conversations and social lives above their service to the customer. I don't care how cool you are or how driven you are in developing your sarcasm, all I really want is a friendly, professional checkout experience after waiting in line for 10 minutes. read more

Meh. It was okay. That is how I feel about H&M. I waited quite a while, not being a fan of suffication and mob scenes, but this morning I finally ventured down to H&M. I think my expectations were too high. When I lived in Spain when I was twenty, I love, love, loved H&M. It was soo cute, soo cheap. Well, there was plenty of cute going around, but I didn't think it was such a great value. Lots of the dresses I thought were worth buying were in the $40-60 dollar range, same with jackets. I know it's new, but if the crowds at the H&Ms in LA, SF, and Seattle are any indication, the throngs fighting for $3 thongs aren't going to get skimpier any time soon. Slow-moving masses make me want to kick children, but the siren song of cheap Swedish-planned sweatshop-wear lured me in on a Sunday. H&M is hit and miss, quality-wise. The basic tees and cardigans are always a good value; avoid the vinyl stench of the shoe collection. Their guys' clothes seem to be better constructed. Amongst the racks of shiny, stretchy, and synthetic, I nabbed a mod coat for half price. Yay! Tip: the checkout queue on the bottom floor (kids and maternity) is non-existent. read more

I've been at several other H&M stores throughout the country and I wish our Portland store was better. This was the first time I've made it down to our new store and I was very excited to pick up a few things for my trip to Vegas that day. I picked out 12 things I wanted to try on and ended up going to the dressing rooms upstairs because they looked less busy. There were 2 attendents in the dressing room when I went in and when I needed sizes, he told me that there wasn't anyone to go get the sizes. He said that I would have to get dressed and go find them myself. After a couple trips to get sizes, my momentum in the store was dying down. I grabbed the 3 items that interested me and headed downstairs for the long check out. After waiting 10 minutes, a clerk mentioned that they were opening a checkout upstairs and I went, back upstairs. The guy who checked me out looked extremely bored and irritated with his job. He took my 3 items and carefully whadded them up on by on into a pile on the counter. Then he shoved them into the smallest bag I have ever seen. When they didn't fit, he just shoved them harder and harder into it. I finally grabbed the bag from him and told him to stop. He said that they only had this super small bag or a very large bag. While I appreciate him saving me from a large bag, he could have at least folded the clothes or offered me a choice. Overall experience was very poor and I agree with the people before me that the sizes are all over the map. read more

Just had my first H&M experience last week. Holy Cow! I can already tell this place is going to turn into a problem for me. Where have you been all my life?!?! H&M makes me realize how gaudy Forever 21 actually is. The stuff they have in for spring is awesome. I'm a sucker for a jumper/romper! The sizes are a little odd. Some shirts are sized sml,med,lrg, others are 2,4,6,8,etc... I kinda had to just eye-ball stuff and guess which size would work. One top looked like a smallish medium, and yet the number size said 10. It was definitely not a 10. The dudes section was a little lame. Nothing I would pick to put on a guy. Still alot of popped collars and bro-ish crap. I'm very finicky when it comes to price matching the quality of an item, and at least here I feel ok about buying a thin,cheaply made shirt because it was only 10 bucks. Score one for me! read more

I shop at this store all the time. I am seriously reconsidering. I went in today to return a dress I bought that didn't fit right. I was looking to see if there was anything else I might like to grab in it's place. All I found was a single pair of white underwear on the clearance. No tags. But other similar ones were marked $1, also some swimsuit bottoms marked $1. I get to the counter and Clarissa looks up the item - it's marked $12.99 because it was supposed to be in a 2-pack. I tell her about the other solo underwear marked $1 she says nothing except "I'll give you have 1/2 off $12.99. Ridiculous! I would have paid up to $3, but $6.50 for a pair of H&M underwear that had been tampered with.....ya, NO! I easily spend 2-3k a year at this store. Regardless, they shouldn't try to price gauge when other items (better quality ones too) were marked $1. It's the principle. read more

Five stars would have been if they had everything I wanted in a reasonable size. 4 stars because I am, like many other ladies, not a size 2-6 and therefore had my selections limited to what WAS available. Plus, my usual size - a respectable 10 - was like WTF too tight. A woman never likes to go up a size. Like, ever. So while I loved the styles, the prices and wide variety of offerings...the obvious hating on "average" or "larger-sized" ladies was a bit of a bummer. But still, 4 stars because I emerged with two dresses, two shirts and a skirt for slightly over 100 bones. Can't say that about some of my other favorite fancy-clothes stores. read more

H&M - I met you in Berlin two years ago. Then I moved back to the United States, and lo and behold, you were here, suddenly, somehow. When did H&M cross the Atlantic? This place is the best place to go for a pair of super stretchy black leggings. And as for "cheap and disposable," although most of their clothes is kinda shitty, their leggings have lasted me forever. I seem to get shoes here every season but I'll tell you, the shoes from here will fall apart very, very quickly. But then you get amazing stuff, patterns and fabulous cuts. I love their winter accessories here too. Best place on earth to get a pair of gloves, a scarf, a knit hat, anything at all like that. And socks, and undies. It may be cheap and crappy and small shitty clothes, but I have to give it four-stars for not being Forever 21, which is the true shit-hole of ever mall. read more

Oi. For whatever reason, I allowed myself to be convinced to visit H&M two days after opening. I saw the lines on day one. I knew it was going to be a madhouse, but I went anyway. I have only been into one other H&M, located in Las vegas, and I can say that this is a far superior store. It is three floors, kids and maternity on the bottom, ladies in the middle, and men's and more ladies on the top. It was pretty difficult to navigate the store with the hundreds of people around, but the store seems well laid out. Prices range from dirt cheap (4 dollar tank tops!!! 5.95 men's tees!!!) to a little too spendy on clothes that probably aren't made that well. This should be a given, but I'll say it anyway: try everything on! I tried on some cute-on-the-hanger clothes that just didn't sit right on my body type. In the end, I left with 2 tank tops, 1 t-shirt, leggings, and three men's tees for around $50. Not too bad, I think. I wont be back until the hype dies down, but if you simply must visit hm this year, remember to take deep breaths, remain patient, and have fun! read more

Prices: ok. Atmosphere: a little less than ok. You walk in and the music is bumpin' - ok with me, but then you walk down the steps into a hot mess of clothes, people packed into the racks, and crying children. I dug through some stuff and found a killer deal on skinny jeans and a couple tops, then made my way to the dressing room. The line took probably 10 minutes just to get into a room. Worst Customer Service Ever!! I have been there several times. Their customer service got worse and worse especially people who work upstairs. The female staff saw me waiting there for more than 10 minutes and I was the first one in line. She said nothing to me and had a "fun" chat with her co-worker. When she served me, she opened the door in a very rude manner. The male staffs were worse! They were very arrogant!! I used to see friendly staffs early last year but it looks like they started to have those no-service skills people working there since the end of last year. I didn't buy anything there. I don't need their attitude. I ended up going to Forever 21 and GAP instead. read more

So I wasn't going to rate this place because.....well, it is H&M. How ordinary, right? But since I have decided to rate most of the places I've been to, here it goes. So I like H&M. I really do. Their clothes feel like better quality than Forever 21 (which have cute clothes, but let's face it. Those clothes don't last). What I really like about H&M is that their employees don't come up to you and bother you repeatedly. They let you browse at your leisure and I love that. Some employees are very nice, but some need some coaching on customer service. I find that the lines for the dressing rooms are extremely long during the weekends. The same goes for the checkout line! If you are in a hurry or don't feel like waiting, go to the men's section and check out there. It will save you so much time! read more

At long last, we have an H&M in Portland. I remember when I was living in the Bay Area, we waited for years before we one in San Francisco, and my life was complete when they finally moved in.
