He was very confused with the whole process of filing taxes since he was an employee before he owned his business and filing taxes wasn't such a big deal back then, but Sevan has been very helpful and he made the whole process seem very easy. This was the most horrible experience i have ever had. Sy Saremi was my tax advisor and he tried to charge me $360 cash only, when i have done it here every single year and they deducted from my earnings. This man stated it wouldnt work and i had to pay him cash upfront in order for him to do anything for me. I told him i was practically done doing it online myself but ran into a small issue. Therefore to why i was in there in the first place. He shrugged at me saying he doesnt care what i do. Cool! I left to turbo tax. guess what, they did it for free and in a matter of 15 minutes with a huge smile on their face. NOT TO MENTION they didnt even charge me when i told them what happened at H&R. Seems like a a overall sketchy scheme to me. Last time filing at any H & R. THE ONLY THING that was normal here was their receptionist. I didnt get her name, but she was very sweet and helpful. We started using this H&R Block for filing our taxes a few years ago and I just realized I have not reviewed it yet! At the beginning we were skeptical to go there because you know it is a chain and I had the mind set of them not really care about customer. BUT let me tell you, this location changed our opinion entirely. We have worked with two Tax Preparers (Sevan and Sye) so far and both of them have been very helpful and knowledgeable. I guess this location isn't too terrible, but I'm rating them two stars for a few reasons. 1.) They take calls and book appointments during your session. 2.) If your appointment time goes over you are rushed out. 3.) You have to know your deductions. They will not suggest deductions for your taxes. They're already getting paid regardless of how much effort they put in. I had Gudi, very sweet woman. I had to coax some deductions out of her. I usually do my own taxes, but since I use my car for work I decided to seek advice. I'm glad I went in to H&R block to get help, now I know for next year! read more

I have to say that I am very disappointed in H&R Block. .....I made sure and always make sure I do my taxes in the month of Feb. I did my part...but they did not do theirs...I have yet to speak to someone about my taxes not going thru... They did not go thru the first time electronically. ..and where going to try again. ..If they did not go thru they would do it by mail. But no one called me back to let me know if anything was done. I called today and was told that they had still not gone thru...and that a manager would call me as soon as he could.. And now I am angry!!! I have been a customer for years even after friends have told me not to go there even when I pay a good amount for them to do my taxes and u cannot even get a phone call to tell me what is going on?! They do all the work, explain everything, and when my husband and I saw how big our return was, the fees they charge made us laugh in comparison! Every penny is worth it! I've tried out everything when it comes to taxes - I've used TurboTax online, gone to accountants, I've also gone to H&R Block a couple times. Usually, I had a simple W2 to file, but since I changed my career, and now work as a freelancer, things got a lot more complicated. I had tons of W2's and 1099's, also hundreds of receipts and write offs, etc. I was so overwhelmed, I didn't know what I needed to keep record of or what I could write off, or couldn't write off - I mean I had a billion questions. Helen Wong (who's located at the 521 Glenoaks, Burbank location) was an angel!!!!! She was so patient with me, took the time to answer every single question I had, and was also able to explain in terms I understood. She is also an expert when it comes to people working in the entertainment industry, so is very familiar with freelancing jobs. She even took the time to give me pamphlets and planners, so I can organize all the paperwork and mileages I would need to bring for next year. I am referring her to everyone I know!! I've gone to H&R Block for the past couple years now, and I've gone to different locations and had different agents, but Helen has won my loyalty forever! I'm surprised by the good reviews here. I called the office to make an appointment to get my taxes done. The lady on the phone scheduled me with Helen Wong, the lady that had such good reviews here. Yay! I later learned that my excitement was premature. While Helen was very nice and knowledgeable during the appointment, that's where the good experience ended. I made it very clear that I needed the taxes done asap, so on the saturday that we met, she said she can do the taxes on Wednesday. This was already inconsistent with what I was told when I was making the appointment, but I figured a few days wouldn't hurt. She said she would get started on the taxes at 6pm the following Wednesday. I stayed up till 4am to get all the paperwork together and sent it off. I never received a response that the paperwork was received and no notification that the taxes were started. I tried to call on Wednesday evening but the main office would not transfer me to the Burbank branch. The operator by the name of Miguel said that I should drive down there because there is no way to contact a specific office by phone. Yes ladies and gentlemen, there isn't a way to handle this by phone. So I drove down. Helen wasn't there and my taxes didn't get started. A nice lady there spoke to me and calmed me down saying Helen would be there the following day and things would get sorted. Ha! Nope! To make the long story short, 2 messages and 3 emails later, I never heard from Helen. I drove down there yet again to pick up my paperwork and was told that only Helen could give it to me. Though they did eventually give it to me considering the situation. The only reason I give it 2 stars instead of one is because the other staff were nice and tried to help fix the situation. Helen is incredibly unprofessional and irresponsible. Would never use H&R Block again. Should have listened to my friends. read more

My nephew had a deadline to fill out some tax forms related to his new job. I found this local business on yelp and called them. The receptionist answered nicely and then transferred me to Sevan . He patiently listened to our questions on our speakerphone , took our information down and called us back in 10 minutes with all the detailed answers and calculations . After his call I had another question and called him back . He took my call and explained what I had missed . We had never met him before but he spent his time with care just to help us . EXCEPTIONAL is the only way to describe Sevan at this H and R Block location. After trying to find an answer to a complicated loss issue for more than 3 years with CPAs and tax attorneys who wanted thousands of dollars to research it, Sevan spent just a few days and responded with an exact answer and way to proceed. It was a substantial business loss that affects my taxes for years, and his generosity of his time was remarkable, considering all the years I spent trying to establish the facts even with the IRS. I honestly had never had an experience, where the answer was clear and exact, and didn't require thousands of dollars to "investigate." I rarely, if ever write reviews, but I could not wait to write this. Please try Sevan before going anywhere else for any and all tax issues, especially difficult ones that no one else seems to be able to resolve. I want to urge any one who comes here to be very careful. Sy did my taxes in March. Early April I had not received my tax money. I went on the IRS website and it said that it had been deposited. Sy put my money into the wrong direct deposit account. Someone else's. Maybe his? I went through a nightmare with H and R Block. They were so rude and misleading. They gave me false information, had me jump through hoops. Every person i spoke with told me to do something different. I went back to were I had my taxes done, and there was no one there. I have had a terrible time locating my money. It was put into another account. The IRS has been extremely difficult also, as they are very understaffed. It takes hours to get through to anyone. I work 50 hours a week and do not have time to sit on the phone. I still do not have my money, and am not very much closer to getting it. H and R Block fought with me and told me that they did their part. After much back and forth, I finally got the money I paid to have my taxes done. They were awful, and Sy, where ever you are...
