His assistant had sent us an email with a link to Intuit to get things started. We might have been able to do the whole filing virtually, however we like the opportunity to meet in person and ask questions.

You could totally rely on Ed, the previous owner, and his extensive professional knowledge in taxes and everything that had to do with it, but I guess he's retiring. Now, they have a new owner, this Chris guy, who's supposedly a CPA, but that's just a title on a piece of paper. When you call in with a question and actually want to talk to the "CPA," he will put you on hold to go find out the answer to your question from his employees. He knows nothing about business, taxes, even basic things like EIN or business license. But he's raising the prices (lol I guess CPA to him means charging a higher price, not professional knowledge or responsibility) that Ed kept in place for years or even decades. Save yourself from trouble and avoid at all costs!

Come on, he's an Enrolled Agent (he can stand before the IRS in court, etc.), he's an MBA (he knows business) and he's a great human being. I've had accountants in the past that seemed to work FOR the IRS, not for me. Ed is different - he'll go that extra mile to get you those same tax breaks that the rich guys get. And he'll give you good business advice, too. He looks out for you now, and down the road.
