When I met with the owner on June 8 and presented detailed emails outlining these errors, he said he would look into it but never responded. My check was cashed on June 12 despite unresolved problems, and a certified letter I sent on June 15 requesting an amicable resolution was ignored. The final bill was double my deposit, with no communication that costs would increase. Although the firm advertises decades of experience and attention to detail, the work I received did not reflect those claims. I had to introduce myself to my bookkeeper, weeks after I was told who it would be. Weeks would pass, and I'd look up, from my extremely busy business (there's a reason I need a bookkeeper!), and no word from anyone at this firm. I really hate having to babysit adults. That's what I was constantly doing with Clear Accounting. I laid out my discontent to them about lack of communications and output, and said I had 2 reasonable expectations - timely communications and reporting. But then the same thing happened. Since last Dec. I received one report from them - ONE - which they extracted from data they imported from my previous firm, and sputtered around with two different bookkeepers. I left them mid-May 2020, and the firm I went to communicated with me more in 2 days, then Clear Accounting did in 6 mos. That is not an exaggeration. When I asked for a few months refund back, I was told some explanation about how they had worked "X" number of hours on my account.....Yeah, right. Except, we could never get ahold of her and we couldn't schedule a meeting until after tax day. The second year for the same amount of billable hours they increased their tax prep fee 145%, which was very concerning for us. We asked for a review and that they would please find a way to lessen the fee. Their response was basically "no", " Your increased fee is not due to increased billable hours; it is due to correctly charging for the hours incurred by our firm". Also, after filing an extension for us, we had our information to them by early June and it took until early September for them to prepare our taxes. We checked in with them multiple times to check in on the progress of our return. We would not recommend them based on the price and their lack of expediency.

They still charged me almost 400 for an easy file! My sister has same situation as I do and she was charged 170 at H&R.
