Then, they prepare a simple tax return...which I still do not understand and could not get an explanation...and they charge an additional $495. For a return with one W2. Rip off! Went back and forth through email with Kristy Bramlett. Her emails say, "let me know if you have any questions." However, when you ask questions and say you don't understand, you get no answers. Do not recommend to anyone! I was going to inquire about other financial services, but why would I trust someone with my money when they don't/won't communicate with their clients??

However, this places filed single and said because of new tax laws, I can no longer file HOH for my 2022. I explained to her that my adult daughter lives with me and I provide for her and pay the bills in my home. I thought this was odd, but I assumed she knew what she was doing. However, about a month later, I got a call from the IRS concerning my taxes because they found it odd that I was filing single. This was a big red flag this place didn't know what they were doing. I've never in my life had issues with my taxes because I've paid accountants to do my taxes over the past 30+ years. Doing my taxes with Hometown was the first time there was an issue and last time using them. Decided this year for my 2023 taxes to return to my old place because I know they are great, and I've never had issues. They filed HOH and explained that this person who did my taxes is clueless at Hometown. The tax code for HOH states that if you provide for and shelter your adult daughter, you can claim HOH without claiming her because you provide more than 50% of her cost of living. This means I got cheated on funds and will have to pay for an amendment on my 2022 taxes. NEVER GOING TO THIS PLACE AGAIN. I'm going to have to also explain to the IRS this year the discrepancy because I went back to filing HOH for 2023. They cost me $$ because of their lack of knowledge of taxes, and I'm the one paying for it all. IRS WEDSITE: Can I file head of household if my adult daughter lives with me? To claim head-of-household status, you must be legally single, pay more than half of household expenses and have either a qualified dependent living with you for at least half the year or a parent for whom you pay more than half their living
