I am never coming to this place again. My appointment was at 6:00 p.m., but I wasn't helped until 6:41 p.m. The woman who prepaird my taxes wanted too much small talk, slowing the tax filing process. By the end of the visit, I got $203 back in taxes, but I still had to pay $314 for the preparation. $314 seems a bit high, considering the national average is $200 and the average for H&R is $100. All of my returns went back to H&R, so what's the point of their help? I save money doing my taxes myself. read more

No one is excited to do taxes. However, Patrick Connelly has been making mine exciting for the past 3 years or so. It was such a blessing to find him. His dry sense of humor and his yearly full production vacation videos are actually something I look forward too. Worst tax experience of my life! The woman who did my taxes was rude and couldn't figure out how to deduct payment from my refund. She kept hovering over me when I had to electronically sign for things. She would tell me exactly how I was supposed to scroll down to sign (there were two options and it upset her if I didn't do it her way). She scolded me for sending a text message. She treated me like a child and even worse wouldn't allow me to have my refund check mailed to me. I am never going back there. read more

It's the time of year and I was sitting down to do it myself and I just couldn't face it. I called H&R block this morning and got in to see Howard Small at 11:00 today. He was the best, so lovely and so helpful and I was just confused as how to go about doing them. I did TurboTax last year and was online with a "professional" who led me down the wrong path. He even had time go over my 2015 returns which I did myself and were a mess with mistakes. He corrected everything got me back almost as much as I paid this year. It's a wash!!! Perfect. He told me to just go home and look at my 1099s and send off the amended return he did for me. Once home, I looked at my paperwork and it didn't add up. I called him back and he said come on back I have time right now to get this finished and done right. He agreed that the numbers didn't add up and redid it all and was an absolute doll. He is my guy for good and I will see him again same time next year. I miss him already. I can't recommend him highly enough. The peace of mind is priceless. Although the lady who filed my taxes was very kind, she did not have the level of expertise to file my tax return with my full confidence (at nearly $400 nonetheless!). She had to ask 4 other tax professionals for "help" which is completely unprofessional and frustrating. The appointment itself took nearly 3 hours and I left feeling very uneasy and anxious as to whether or not they were filed correctly. In addition the office is very cheap looking and there is no way to protect all the sensitive documents that were being reviewed. It is literally one small room with several clients seated within feet of each other, anyone with an inkling of knowledge on identity theft would not have felt comfortable. I'm sure they are some sort of violation of consumer identity protection. read more

After my husband and I decided to go with H&R Block this year, I started researching locations. I read these reviews and decided to make an appointment with Patrick, hoping that our experience would be just as good as the other reviewers'. It was! Patrick was so nice and knowledgeable. There wasn't a question that he couldn't answer, and trust-we had quite a few. He's also a pretty funny guy- so it was nice to chat with someone who has a sense of humor while doing something that otherwise would be pretty boring. Awful.....!! At this point if any of us are paying someone to do basic taxes that's our fault,it's too easy to do it for free. That being said I had some unique issues with taxes this year and after initially trying to go through the IRS I went back to H@r block. After talking to 1 of there representatives,he assured me the local branch understood the situation and would be able to help me, when I went into this branch I was told that person works in Kansas and has nothing to do with this branch and you can't use your email here to get the necessary paperwork!? For a company that's coming close to being obsolete you would think they're customer service was at least passable. Nope. Again,it's free and easy online....don't bother with this company and certaintly stay away from this branch!! Somehow they don't realize that they are the Blockbuster of taxes.
