Horrible! An absolute nightmare! First, I thought that using their tax professional service might be economical, but when they gave me the bill I fell off my chair! $1035! They have a system where they charge you by the form they file, so be very careful! Then, when the IRS kept rejecting my return, Dana kept fixing it and assuming it was filed, so she didn't return my messages. I went to this location before the extension deadline, Dana was there fixed it again, and the IRS rejected the return again. She assumed she fixed it and went on vacation, but I wasn't able to resubmit it through their interface. So, they've charged me $1035, left my return on rejected status, and all locations are closed! To add insult to injury, their customer support telephone numbers are mostly geared for online DIYers, and they're retail support won't give you their ID numbers, thus zero accountability! Update 1: I already called customer support, they said they'd get back to me in three more days! Update 2: Six days and running, still no response from H&R Block Customer Service! Not all H&R Block's are created equal!!! I've been going to one in OC - hilltop for 2 years. I moved so I went to this one. And now I have to go to the one in OC and start over because this one let me down. I started communicating with them end of March and as of today they're not responding to me. I needed to do my taxes, my SO taxes, and my deceased fathers taxes. -poor response time -hidden unexplained fees -took 3 weeks for a response on my taxes -just found out TODAY that they never opened a profile for my recently deceased fathers taxes they said they were "working on" -I called yesterday and spoke to someone that said they couldn't answer any questions because they were not sure why my tax fee was so expensive and that I don't have the option to use my refund to pay the fee. I didn't have money to pay the fee because my dad just died and I'm on maternity leave and had to use all of my money from maternity leave to pay for his funeral stuff. So I told her I would just call back during the week. - it's Monday and a money transfer came through so I now have money to pay the fee - I tried to log into the app and ALL of my stuff is deleted and there's no where to accept my filing and pay. So I've called their office multiple times for help and no one will respond to me. Tomorrow is tax day and they're not answering me and I have to file my taxes, my fathers and my SOs. -My SO decided to just use turbo tax. I didn't want to redo it all so I called a different HnR - the one in OC on hilltop- they were able to pull my stuff up and they're having me come in and sign and GUESS what?? - they're allowing me to use the refund to pay. They looked up my dads information and this HnR block NEVER even opened a profile for my dad in the first place. So now I have to file for an extension and start over on my dads stuff. The people I spoke to were Gloria - super nice but admitted she couldn't answer any of my questions or help me use my refund to pay. Keiko- new employee and couldn't answer a lot of my questions either but was nice Another "tax consultant" that told me they were working on my dads profile - I can't remember her name but she is supposedly the only tax consultant at this location. So thank you guys for adding to the stress of my recently deceased father and brand new baby and dealing with this probate stuff. If you do NOT know how to do something or it seems too complicated- then please send people elsewhere and don't waste their time. For other customers - go to another HnR block- I am a very patient person and I feel I have been put through the ringer. This entire situation was 2 appointments and several phone calls and here we are the day before tax day and they're not responding to me or helping. If I could give them Zero stars I would. Just the WORST. I called them and asked if they file tax returns for small nonprofit organizations (e-form 990), and they said that they did. I made an appointment. They called me and rescheduled the appointment twice. When they finally followed through with the appointment (3 weeks later), the tax person took me back to her office. She said, "so you need to do the 990 form for a nonprofit, right?" I replied yes. Then she said that she doesn't do that and I would need to reschedule to see someone else another 3 weeks out. I told her that I had to cancel patient appointments to be there for this non-appointment, and her sarcastic reply was "what do you want me to do?" I will not be using them again. If you go to the H and R site for this local branch, you will see tons of glowing reviews for Stephanie, and they are all true. I'm not kidding when I say I look forward to getting my taxes done because she is just that good! I went to her about five years ago the first time I filed taxes on my own. I had worked in California for a bit and since she is licensed in OR and CA she was able to take care of it no problem. At the time I was planning to move back to California for work, so she explained to me all the different things I should save to put on my taxes for the following year. She taught me about a lot of deductions I didn't know existed! I now live in California and just sent Stephanie a note that all my documents were uploaded to the HR portal. She responded within half a day that she would get right on it. She remembers me year over year and is just so sweet. I can't believe I didn't write a review for her sooner. read more

Stephanie was amazing and her knowledge of the tax system got us almost three times what I was expecting. We work hard and the government takes a lot. You can always get just a little more with some help so it's worth coming in and seeing these people. I work customer service for a living and Stephanie's was top notch. The lower tier tax professionals who work with people who have simpler tax returns are unbelievably unqualified to give professional tax advice, let alone file someone's taxes. If you want to get your taxes done at H&R Block by someone competent, you're going to have to work with their top tier people and end up paying what you would at a boutique firm, so you might as well skip H&R Block altogether. I would give them 0 stars if I could. Not one, but two different tax professionals I worked with missed my single biggest deductible, and I would have ended up paying twice what I owed for both federal and state returns had I not been stubborn and found the deductible myself. My biggest takeaway from this experience was that I was shocked H&R hasn't been involved in some kind of class action lawsuit, given how unqualified the people they hire are. read more

Kelly "helped" me after all of her rude comments about my birth certificate, social security card, and my ID stating well you don't look Native American .... Um okay who are you to tell me what I look like. $170 to file my taxes. Please I've never paid over $70. This place is a joke. read more
