The assigned preparer that we received was rude when we could get him on the phone, unintelligible in the message correspondence through the web portal and made numerous mistakes in our returns that required way more back and forth than should have been necessary. We were repeatedly having to request clarifications as to what he needed from us, then we would get back cryptic half-answers. Zero customer service skills. Not only that, somehow according to H&R Block, we owe more than triple the tax from last year when nothing really changed income-wise? To add insult to injury, they also charged us more than anyone else has ever charged us for taxes and they double and triple charge you to correct mistakes in the return even before it's filed. This is one of the worst tax service experiences I've ever had and we will definitely not use them again. read more

I know people use online programs and services to do their taxes for various reasons with the main one being to save on cost. I've learned that having peace of mind on most things is priceless. Although we have non complicated tax info I prefer to have a tax expert do them because to us, peace of mind on taxes is priceless. We've had our taxes done by our local H&R Block for the past 6 years and they have provided a great service. The one thing I would like customers to be aware of is that their preparers have different schedules so if you want to have a certain one help you, check their schedules so you can make your appointment. This year our preparer was not available on weekends or after 1 or 5 on some weekdays but he made time for us and was very accommodating. You can also choose to get their company assurance of support in case of any errors on their part. Returns in most part arrive quicker than when you do them yourself online and if you do end up owing taxes, the payment can be scheduled to be deducted from your account on April 15 known as tax day. Use them and that will be one less thing to worry about once a year. read more
