When asked if the claims department is going to resolve my claim The lady working at the claims department said I really don't know. Not I will follow up and help you... just I don't know. Great customer service very reassuring it's just MY money I trust you with. She read the notes and the escalation team looked it over but never did anything. She suggested that I go to another HR block office to resolve. How can a company that deals only with taxes mess up and offer no solutions except go back to the same office that screwed it up. My Husband and I made an appointment two weeks prior, only to show up to our appointment with our tax person to not speak a word of English. That's fine in our opinion, however, after a half hour of still working on the intake information (that I tried to explain had been already filled out online) was misspelled we had to politely walk out. I pushed my phone over to assist her, and she still had my phone number, email and address incorrect on her screen. The business practice of H&R Block is to upsell you at almost ever stage of the IRS or State tax return. There basic fee continue to rise and their professional agent review is useless. Not only did the professional review did not find even a $1 deduction, but missed deductions for State DMV fees, which were not in the original tax for review, and I had to ask if DMV fees are still tax deductable. I found no section to include DMV fee deductions during the process. read more

Went to h&r block first there directions took me to Sunnyvale pd and when I did locate the office they said they couldn't help me went home jumped on line and the online tax preparer had no problem helping me filed all three years without a problem so if you want be sent on a wild goose chase for nothing I recommend h&r block if not I recommend anyone else!!!!!!! read more

This place sucks. I was referred to Baljinder Dhanjal, by another parent at my kids' school. I called him about a fairly simple issue, and he was extremely dismissive and discourteous. I was shocked, so much so that I went out of my way to tell him how highly he was recommended. I also literally couldn't even believe the language barrier (as another poster mentioned, and with multiple employees at this location) and how discouraged and pissed off I was after this phone call. PLEASE READ B4 GOING to this H & R Block... I used H & R block for many years and was very happy. I never had so many issues as with the store in Sunnyvale. We decided that we would pay the $49 to get their help vs doing it all by ourselves- who wants to be in trouble with the IRS??? We were given WRONG INFORMATION, made errors on our return and not only did they gave us wrong information, now we could be in trouble with the IRS!!!!! We are still trying to figure out what's up really... There was a HUGE language barrier between the agent and us who did not understand our questions left us MORE confused. Because we followed the instructions the agent gave us, we found out the HARD WAY it was completely wrong!When we called (same day) to speak with someone a lady picked up and she was UNHELPFUL, disengaged, unsympathetic who said she can't do ANYTHING to help us out of the problem we are IN NOW!! I had my taxes done at the location on Williams Street, in Carson City NV. When I was done he told me my bill was $309. I asked how come it tripled from last year and he said I made a thousand more then last year, I said that shouldn't matter there was no more paper work involved it was exactly like the year before except a thousand dollars. She always has recommendations on investing for my future. Yes, this is part of her job BUT you can tell she does want her customers to be well off & comfortable in their future. She's very sincere. Used their online tax service and paid them. Paid the IRS with a credit card thru them. A few days later I was told they rejected my return. So I had to mail in my taxes, by H&RB mad it very, very difficult to print out the taxes in mailable form. I also sent another check because H&RB left me in no-man's land, could not proceed no determine my status with e-payment. So I'm out a lot of $$ and have to deal with the IRS to get it back. I went to H&R Block this season after years of using TurboTax (oops). My experience with Sukanya (Sue) Ramesha was very positive. I found her to be experienced, thorough, and considerate. Basically, she's smart, a good person, and easy to get along with...which sounds basic, but can be hard to find these days! My return was complicated (e.g., sale of out-of-state rental, some mistakes from prior years) and frankly, made me cringe just thinking about it. I had my taxes prepared by a CPA for a few years in a row and paid around $175 for tax preparation. When a relative suggested H&R Block and since it was closer to my home, I decided to give them a try. I was charged $599 and they took off $25 because I had a coupon. Unfortunately, I wasn't informed, in advance, that the charge was going to be so high until too late to do anything about it. Such a burn! If offered the option, I would rate H&R Block a zero. I went to 717 e. El Camino Real for help. Service was so pathetic that I would have given a zero if I could have. In the past I have always had good experiences with H&R Block so I thought this would be the place to help me with my tax issues. I called to make the appointment and the lady taking the calls told me she didn't want to hear what I needed help with because she couldn't help me, and to just make an appointment. Later, I received an email asking me to fill in information about what I needed, but when I came in for my appointment I got laughed at as if she didn't receive the information I was asked to fill out. It feels really bad to need help, only to get laughed at like I'm an idiot and then to have to sit and listen to a story about another customer who needed similar help and how uneducated he was. I can't believe the tax lady said I was educated but the other man wasn't and we have similar issues that she can't help with. I felt like complete crap when I left. Hey lady, don't take late appointments if you're tired or don't do it at all if you aren't going to treat everyone with respect. Educated or not, It sucks to be laughed at and no one should be treated like this when they are coming to such an expensive and well known place for help. It's your job to help with our tax needs, regardless of how stupid you think we are for making mistakes or needing extra help. I feel like shit! I hate to ruin their perfect record here since it looks like they have been good for most people. I came in today for what I thought was a simple consultation... Actually, I thought I had seen on the commercials that there was a free consultation first consult... maybe I was wrong... I'm not someone who expects someone to do hard work for free, but really I'm not going to pay $150 per hour before I even know if this tax professional is able to consult on my personal tax situation. I recently opened my own business and when I came in, what I wanted to do was discuss what my business is, and see if the person was knowledgeable about how to find the best ways to categorize my deductions. Basically, I showed the person what I had started to see if it was correct, what she did was print out a tax form and tell me that this is how you need to "categorize"... Ok, if I knew what those things meant, I would just do my taxes myself... When I told her I didn't know what those things meant and that's why I'm here, she mentions that "You know that I have to charge you for this session, it's usually $150 an hour but I'll charge $30" I said, "I thought the initial meeting was a consultation" she just blinked at me, laughed, and said no... Now, $30, I could have paid that, would have paid that, but when someone goes to someone for help, doesn't feel like they have any idea about what I'm asking and then laughs when I explain that I thought the initial meeting was free... I just decided to get up and leave. I can't tell you how bummed I am about this... I expected more from H&R Block. read more

seems like all good reviews for this place but ,as always, I will be honest about my experience. I made an appointment with sharon fang, I showed up on time and waited for her for about 15 minutes- which would have been no big deal, but when she got to me she said that I booked an hour slot and my taxes would take more time so we would have to quit before all was finished (remember I waited 15 minutes for her to finish with someone else) She then proceeded to work too hurried in my opinion, and she is very hard to understand anyway, so we completed very little that night. she was very frazzled I scheduled another appointment, and she warned me that we would again only have an hour because she had another client after me, so time would be important....whose time ? mine or hers anyway, I showed up a little early this time for my 9 am appointment and found that she was again with another client so I waited...and waited....and waited until EXACTLY 9:22 and left quietly...understanding now that sharon, and this office, were not the one for me twice she had told me that time would be short, so show up on time ready to go, and twice she cut out more than 25% of my time unapologetically. except for when she actually had the nerve to call my cell at around 9:40 WONDERING where I was. where the heck do you think I am lady????????? How much might you pay in court fees and attorney expenses to fight for yourself if you don't have that protection? Far more than you'd have spent on hiring a professional in the first place, and when it comes to professional service, Sue is the best of the best! She is personable, extremely kind, straight-forward, and makes it a point to ensure that you're well informed and extremely well taken care of!
