After hearing nothing for 3 weeks from my 'tax pro' (including 3 messages that from me that were ignored, or, as it turned out, the agent claimed, "not received"), I canceled Block handling my taxes and deleted all the documents I'd uploaded. Four days later, 6 days before tax day, my "tax pro" contacted me with questions about my return. For an organization that emailed me, texted me multiple times, and called me all to confirm my appointment, they could not keep it. Over an hour late, and of course that meant the next person was an hour late as well. Bad planning for a company that prides itself (big joke) on their planning. i keep hoping someone will care enough to turnaround my initial bad experience but it keeps getting worse. I made my first appointment the end of February, it's now early April and my state return still hasn't been filed due to their software glitch. After hours of calls and 8 office appointments, each starting at least 20 minutes late, it's still not clear when it will be resolved or if the copy of the return I got when I paid is even what will be filed. I've lost all confidence in HR Block. So frustrating after my previous accountant (now retired) consistently filed within days, at a fraction of the cost and without the need for me to sit for hours watching him key in data. read more

I scheduled an appointment on a Monday with H&R and the system chose someone who doesn't speak English well. I showed up at the appointment with a few paper because I didn't know what to expect - it was 3 W2's, a court settlement of $20.45 (which turns out to be a W2, 1099-INT, all rolled into 1), and a few other documents. The preparer told me she is only available for Friday as follow up. I told her if I have anything else, I can send over - like union dues, job cost/related, but she told me it doesn't matter. I really didn't know what to expect and the communication was unclear. Over the course of the week, I sent the preparer another document (my interest I accrued at a bank) and she emailed me back pretty fast. Once I come in on Friday, the preparer showed me my info, which was different than what I had on my own Turbotax. I usually use Turbotax, but decided H&R Block because I had received a $25 coupon. The preparer just shrugged her shoulder and didn't care to look into why there's a difference. At the end, the preparer charged me as "complex" because I ended up 3 W2's and a settlement. I didn't even know there's a difference in cost because Turbotax was $110 total ($60 federal and $50 state). The difference was $30 more just because I had a court settlement of $20.45. It doesn't make any sense, because the preparer never explain anything. There's a big difference in our languages. I would not have gone to H&R Block if I knew it was so frustrating. I paid a lot more (more than $60) than my peace of mind, and am unsatisfied with the result - I don't even know if the tax was done correctly because any questions I have were shrugged off. read more

Don't make a mistake to go there. All they care is the number of customers they charge. The quality of service they provide is zero.They are not asking you the right questions. In my case they forgot to mail my paper tax return. I tried calling them for days and days... It is almost impossible to reach them out by phone. Very bad service. read more

We had an outstanding experience with this office. An older relative had a difficult tax problem that we could not solve despite many tries on our own. We needed help with a previous HRB tax return. Lisa Yes was sympathetic to our plight and took considerable time to track down the answer. So for this year's tax preparation I again went to H&R Block. I must say I was quite pleased with this location's preparers and the ease with which to get an appointment. As I only filed Fed and because H&R sent me a 25 dollar coupon for bringing my business back, I only ended up paying 36 bucks to file this year. 36 bucks? I'll be back next year! read more

Filing taxes at this place is expensive! I think it is a rip off! The tax preparer does not care about helping you by charging less for the tax preparation. In addition, the amount of work that is put in is very minimal. Most of the work is data entry from your W-2 into the H&R Block software, or from your 1099-G or 1099-C, etc. My return took 30 minutes to complete and for 30 minutes of data entry I was charged $208. I am going through a job search and the tax preparer knew that I am not employed and ended up charging me $208 and not telling me that I can do this online for free on the H&R Block website. I would not recommend this place to people that have filed taxes before. I suggest you utilize the free websites to file your basic returns or buy a software from TurboTax for $65-$100 and file the taxes yourself using one software and filing for more than 1 person at this price! The manager Paul at this location is not a good person either, neither is the tax preparer Thilaka. She did not tell me the cost of tax preparation before hand, I found out at the end. I paid b/c I did not know about their free online tool and they did not tell me. I found out about the free online tool afterwords from another source. They are all about making money off your tax return! The truth of the matter is there is nothing that they do, that you can not do yourself online at a lower rate! read more

I just started a business and didn't know where to go to do my tax. I found this place which closer to my work. The receptionist and staffs were nice and friendly. I had Lewis Ruff to help me this time. He was quick and professional, also very experienced , knowledgeable for what he does. When he saw a problem , he explained it slowly and clearly. He even caught some problem or mistakes from my previous tax last year. But I don't worry about it because I know I am in a good hand. Towards to end when we finished, he prepared some envelopes for my quarterly taxes as well as the amount to pay. I was impressed how detailed and organized he is. I made an appointment on the website and when I called to confirm my appointment, I informed them that my 2018 taxes had already been filed but that I needed assistance making my estimated quarterly taxes. I explained that I am self-employed as of the beginning of 2019 . I was transferred to the person I made an appointment with, Thilaka, and she told me she didn't have time to help me - even though I made an appointment just like everyone else. She said she had other people who needed their 2018 taxes prepped and that she had too much to do. What the purpose of scheduling an appointment then? I explained that I had the same deadline as everyone else, April 15, to make my estimated tax payment. She told me she could only give me 15 minutes of her time and asked me to find another time to return. I will not be returning. I don't understand why my situation isn't handled with the same priority as others, especially when I booked an appointment and have the same deadline approaching. Terrible service. read more

I was then told I was negative, what poor and blatantly rude customer service from Rich. Needless to say I will not be giving them my business. read more

I was coming in for a walk-in today around 11am and was "greeted" by the woman at the front desk. The woman is extremely rude, unprofessional, and aggressive. We won't be back! Very disappointed... You would think company will have some loyalty to their returning customers. It was a total rip off ! I guess it is our fault we waited to do our taxes the last minute- but charging us almost double ?? We had our appointment- patiently waited for 35 minutes (with our baby). By the time we got greeted and seated by the same representative that did our taxes for last two years , 40 minutes passed by. Representative wasn't prepared at all so we decided not to be too fussy but had to reschedule . You would think we would get some discount for the inconvenience! But that's ok- came back next week without baby . My advise to you- do your homework and find individuals/companies that don't charge you per numbers of document that you have- BECAUSE THEY CHARGE YOU PER DOCUMENT AND THAT IS HOW THEY GET YOU! We don't own home , can't itemize our returns and our taxes are not complicated at all but we have a new baby and had couple of documents more. And ... after tax was filed and we needed to pay for service,we were just shocked to find out that we were WAY OVERCHARGED! God Bless my husband who is always so calm and just handed credit card :) I had to count to ten to calm down and don't start yelling. I went here based on the good reputation of the company. When I called to make an appt, I explained my tax needs and was matched with the best person to do them. Well, she did them wrong and instead of paying thousands in taxes, which she worked out and insisted was correct, I am getting money back. And, my tax situation is beyond basic, so for such an error to be made is unacceptable. Also, during that initial phone call, I was quoted a price for them to do taxes. In the end, the price was double what was quoted. Just terrible. read more

We have gone to this office for two years (we shouldn't have gone back but regretfully did because we were in a pinch and just needed taxes to be done with) and both years we had someone help us who didn't speak English.
