He came highly recommended by our realtor. I told her we had complicated taxes because my husband was working out of the country at the time. Our realtor said her taxes were also really complicated, so I trusted her referral and made the appointment. I really feel like we hit the accountant jackpot! I won't go into all the personal details, but let me just tell you, Bill had his work cut out for him with our taxes! We had lived for 5 years in Asia, and come to find out, we weren't doing things right at all when it came to filling taxes. Our accountant we used previous to Bill used to work as an auditor for the IRS, so we trusted him. But he actually ended up messing things up for us. Bill helped us get it all straight & finally put things in order. We had to file amendments to our old returns, but we got it handled & then got set up on quarterly taxes for my husband's business. The staff is very polite & professional. The offices may not look like much when you walk in, but they're in a beautiful building in a great location on Sheridan & have plenty of parking. When it comes to reporting and paying taxes, the most important thing is hiring a skilled professional. We trust Bill & the company he represents. He has since retired and his son has taken over the business, he did my taxes once and I do not feel comforatble with him and will not be going back. The service at Allied has really declined. I have been getting my taxes done at Allied for 5+…read moreyears. The late John Guido was our accountant until this year, which is when everything went downhill. My family and I will never be returning to Allied again for the following reasons: 1. The prices have gone up significantly despite the declined level of service. John used to break down the numbers in front of us in excel and tell us exactly what we'd owe/get back, and we'd have our taxes filed (correctly) within a week. This year, our accountant, Dana, said that he'd have our taxes ready in about 2 weeks, and when 3 weeks rolled around and passed, we still hadn't heard anything. It was 3.5 weeks by the time our taxes were filed and ready. 2. When my boyfriend picked up a paper copy of his taxes, to our surprise, Allied had given us a packet of someone else's tax documents, which included all of this person's information, including his social security number, income, address, bank account and routing numbers, etc. We were appalled at the oversight and contacted this person to let him know what had happened and give him his documents. This person's identity could have been stolen if these papers ended up in the wrong hands. 3. The accountant made a $5,000+ accounting error that we found ourselves AFTER the taxes had been filed. Because of the error that Allied claims to have fixed, but clearly has not, the IRS is sending us letters for payment plans with threats to garnish wages, despite the designated amount being paid in full (with receipts). I could go on and on, but you get the picture. We thought this was over, but the saga continues. Save yourself some time and the headache and STAY AWAY from this firm! With that said, Betty, the receptionist, is a gem and the 1 star in this review is for her!
