If you're looking for a quick fix to a problem but don't care about quality, timeliness, nor losing money, then J&C flooring meets those requirements. I negotiated with Carlos to renovate both my bathrooms and install hardwood floors to which he provided a good faith estimate on what that would cost. He doesn't always do the work himself but brings in other "guys" to do the work while he goes off to other projects he has going on at the same time. The tile guy he brought in didn't seem to understand the importance of "level" or proper gapping between tiles. Many of the installed tiles were chipped or cut skewed and didn't line up properly. When Carlos returned and surveyed the work, he asked, "what's wrong with this work?" I had him tear all the tile down and redo it, essentially eating the cost of the wasted tile. Carlos will send a text at the last moment and say I won't be showing up today or tomorrow after previously promising to do so and make up an excuse as to why...usually it's because he's needed on another job. Long story short, Carlos may be good at installing flooring (vinyl, carpet, and perhaps hardwood), I wouldn't know since he quit without finishing my bathroom even after he was fully paid (unfinished niche). I would definitely think twice before letting him to do your bathroom. I had the Home Depot Pro Services come out and inspect Carlos' work since I needed the niche (which he was supposed to come back and finish) to be completed and they recommended that I rip everything out again since Carlos used the incorrect thin set (Mapei pre-mix meant for kitchen back splashes which isn't meant for bathrooms or wet environments). His favorite excuse on bad tiling is don't worry, caulking will hide the imperfections. Update: It's ironic that a business owner would respond to a review that "this is what happens to people that cry a lot". Except for having the tiling redone (eating the cost of the replacement tiles; Carlos was never apologetic about it either) not once did we complain about the extended time it took to complete the project. His original estimate was $1700 for labor only...we ended up paying Carlos over $3K, and yet we are the ones supposedly crying a lot?

My wife and I had a very bad experience working with Julio Guzman. He came across as very…read moreprofessional at the time and discussed how he took great pride in his work, didn't cut any corners, and ultimately wanted to make sure the customer was extremely satisfied with the final product. What we experienced after deciding to work with him was quite different, to say the least. The easiest way to convey our experience is through a series of bullets discussing some of the work his team did on various projects (there is quite a bit more but limited by space requirements): * Installed soffit ceiling in covered porch - This was the first project that Julio's team worked on in October (shortly after we purchased the house). It looked great at first and we thought we were getting off to a really great start with his team. Unfortunately, by the following summer the ceiling began to sag in multiple places. I first reached out to Julio about this problem in June via text, asking him to come over and fix the ceiling. He said he would come over to take a look. In the weeks that followed, he never came despite multiple attempts to reach out to him via text and calling. Six months later the ceiling started to actually fall. I texted him saying this was now an emergency situation and that I needed him to come over immediately. He apologized for the extremely lengthy delay and said he would have someone come over ASAP, but three weeks later he still has not had anyone come over to our house, and at this point we have given up on him. We have since done some reading on the subject and come to find out that the soffit his team installed was too long between supporting beams. * Basement ceiling tiles - The basement ceiling was sagging in a few locations. Julio said that he would add the proper supports to pull up the ceiling in these areas. What his team did was to use some random copper wire to hang these portions of the ceiling (I have since redone this work with proper supports). Unfortunately, they neglected to wash their hands before installing this wire and so our ceiling tiles were left with dirty hand prints on them. These are the type of tiles that are made out of some type of particle board, so it's not possible to completely remove stains from them. In general, we found that his team left a mess behind them wherever they went. It appears that they also managed in the process to damage some of the boards themselves and the thin beams that hold them up. * Install ceiling fan in upstairs bathroom - After the fan was installed, we noticed the fogging in the bathroom had not noticeably improved. To test this out, we placed a piece of paper over the fan while it was running and there was no suction. I went up to the roof to look at what had been done and they had installed the vent piping so that it was laying on the ceiling for half the length of the house and eventually vented out one of the side gables. However, the piping was very long and coiled in some areas, so no steam was escaping. I told Julio that the fan needed to instead vent though the top of the roof directly above the fan and asked him in November to have someone come over to address the situation, as well as finish up the remaining jobs on the initial list we had worked out with him (we eventually gave up on having him address some of these other jobs, since it was taking too long). He said he would have someone come over to install a vent in the roof shortly. After subsequent follow-up requests, he did not have anyone come to the house to install the vent until I let him know at the end of January that I had contacted some other contractors to come install the vent. Suddenly he had someone at our house pronto. The new vent was installed about 10 feet away from the fan. This led to more problems, since they simply taped the vent pipe to the new vent, but since it was hanging, the tape came undone and the piping fell. Fortunately, I noticed a few drops of water coming down the vent, so I went up to the attic again and figured out what had happened. I also saw a large puddle of water sitting on top of the insulation in a separate part of the attic where the old pipe had been laying. I think that when they moved the old pipe, water that had been sitting in the pipe fell out and they simply left it sitting there. I was extremely frustrated by the situation at this point and asked Julio to come back over to address the problem. He did improve the connection so the hose wouldn't fall, although I've made some additional improvements since that point, including hanging the piping in multiple places with supports, so it is not flat on the ground until it reaches the location of the vent. This took quite a bit of work and I'm sure the air still does not vent as well as it would if the vent had been installed directly over the fan as it should have been.

I am so glad to have found Julio Guzman of All Builders United through my…read morehome insurance company because not only did they do a great job refinishing my basement after a flooding incident almost 2 years ago, they recently painted the outside of my brick house which is beautiful! I got several estimates and theirs was the best by far and included labor and materials. They even removed a eye-sore of an old wooden awning from the back of my house and then repaired and prepped the brick for painting...they did such a good job that you can barely see where the awning left holes in the brick! Now my kitchen gets more sunlight and is much brighter thanks to the removal of the awning which I didn't know was going to happen so this was unexpected cherry on top! Julio is a licensed general contractor and his crew (mainly Spanish) is awesome! I highly recommend them for any general contracting job. We purchased Kohler rain shower plus hand-held and tub mechanism with all necessary valves from Fergussons. We kept our reclining Kohler tub with side st.steele handles. We needed to tear out and replace all prior tiles due to leak, and wet uninsulated walls around tub. Mr. Buendia and his team planned out the job, gave us a reasonable estimate, told us from when to when the job was going to be done, emailed us job proposal, we agreed and signed contract, and the the job started. They covered floors and stairs to prevent any damage, while we made sure they had access to an empty bathroom. In the middle of job we discovered that we needed to reinstall 'all walls, which we did not know when we started. Mr. Buendia and I went to the Tile store on Eisenhower Ave., and we chose together a tile that would fit and look great, and align with remaining ceramic floor. The team worked in coordinated way, and the end result is truly terrific! We are very satisfied and very much recommend Mr. Buendia's team to others. Prior to this job we had also hired Mr. Buendia for other jobs, redoing siding and trim on a townhouse, replacing basement foor with tile, replacing ceiling tiles with a true ceiling, painting, installing storm doors. Each time, we always received work proposal, reasonable cost estimate, and the work has always been excellent. There were a few hiccups with stain color, namely how it looked in natural light and with the lights on (partly due to the fact that I am new to wood staining and partly due to the red wall adjacent to the sampling we did -- please do your research if you are new to this). There were also smudges on the wall post floor staining, all but one of which Erick was able to fix up (after I noticed and pointed them out which, unfortunately, was after the project was deemed complete). Erick provided a discount for the inconvenience/the one leftover smudge, which I appreciated. Erick took responsibility for his and his team's work and was responsive to our needs and any issues. The floors look great at a reasonable price and I was able to support a small business, which I value (and hope you will too). His primary crew, who worked in my home, were respectful, skilled and kind. I am glad to recommend them to others. Edit: A couple days after the work was done, I noticed some left over materials from the project like wipe cloths, empty plastic bottles, etc. in the home (not a huge amount so not the biggest deal, but things do add up). While the actual flooring work is excellent, clean up/close up is not always 100% it seems, so that's the area I would recommend the company improve. :)
